I've been to Oysterhead pizza several times. Great pizzas and great names. The atmosphere is eclectic but somehow fits! The staff is great! Oysterhead has definitely earned a spot on my great pizza list! Well done! read more

Ordered 2 pizzas 1 drop dish 1 thin crust. The thin crust was undercooked and nasty the deep dish only had sauce and toppings in the center of the pizza leaving 2/3 of every slice crust and cheese. After seeing amazing reviews on this place I had high expectations and walked away extremely disappointed. read more

Incredibly aggressive staff at the register- ready for a fight when I walked in. Pretty unpleasant. They cut my vegetarian pizza with a blade that ran through meat. I already feel uncomfortable and I haven't even eaten it. Not a good vibe. read more

Thankfully my kid noticed this place when we were on our way to the dock for a boat ride. We were hungry when we got back in and stopped in for a bite. The vibe of the place is awesome, the staff is kind and patient, drink options are great, and the pizza was yummy!! I was a little surprised the crust in the bottom was doughy even though the top was crispy but I didn't mind- probably because it reminded me of a street pretzel consistency. Definitely will keep this on the list!! Would love to try a beer next time when I'm not the one driving. read more

Best pizza I've had in Maine. Great atmosphere, the food is amazing and the service was great. I opted to go here for my birthday this year. I had heard good things. I was immediately interested when I read the menu. The names of the pizzas are very cool, if you know who they are. The atmosphere is casual and eclectic. It kinda feels like a band could walk through the door at any moment and ask where they could set up. It is a little limited on seating and you should be willing to get cozy and share a table with others. We ordered a couple of the Drexel Spivey pizzas. Deep dish with pepperoni. Super ingredients and top quality. I do wish the pepperoni had been able to get more fire, but that's the style of pizza. I'll get a regular pepperoni the next trip. For the deep dish, it was cooked and then came out for application of what seemed to be an entire pound of mozzarella. After a few moments back under the heat, it was pulled and Romano Or Parmesan was added and returned to the heat. The cheese was boiling when it came out. Amazing. Their sauce is simple and clean. Not bitter or too acidic at all. Another home run. This is now a regular. It's easy to get to and has parking on the side of the building. It's in an amazing location, but could be a challenge to access during the tourist season. A solid choice for great pizza. read more

Stopped here on a road trip on the way further down the east coast and, honestly... What a hidden gem! We had the Margherita pizza and added the pork belly to it for some extra pizazz (which did not disappoint) and the '36 Chambers' wings, which were unexpectedly delicious. Service was good. Ambiance was great, with a lot of funny/punny pop culture references and good music. The only minor 'con' for us was the limited indoor seating, but if you're thinking about stopping and eating here, don't think twice! read more

Large variety of pizzas with fun names. Wait for to go pizza was about an hour, but we just walked around and sat in benches by the water behind the restaurant. When I picked up my pizza wait was hour and a half to go, so plan ahead. This was Pumpkinfest weekend so maybe that is why. Few parking spots in front of the store but there is street parking and the large public lot behind by the watercor by the bank businesses. They had a large list of craft beers in cans. There is a deck outside to eat pizza as well. read more

Oysterhead Pizza Company is a small, wood-fired pizza shop located in downtown Damariscotta. On a side street, you'll find a dedicated parking area with a few spaces. Outside, you'll find a nice seating area for when the weather is nice. When you walk through the doors, you're greeted with a welcoming smoky, fireplace smell that serves as a reminder that you're about to eat some deliciouswood-fired pizza. Inside, the lighting is warm. The seating area is small, but it's cozy. The staff is very friendly and quick to make recommendations for drinks and pizza. They do have slices at the counter, but I definitely recommend waiting for a fresh pie. During our visit, I ordered two small pizzas: the Johnny Fontane and the OPC Margherita pizza. My wife went with the Lisa Simpson (vegan pizza). While waiting for the pizza, I enjoyed a tasty beer from a Maine craft brewery. There are a number of local craft beers available, along with ciders, non-alcoholic beers, and sodas. The pizza looked incredible when it came to our table. The Johnny Fontane was colorful and vibrant. It had a pleasant spice from the fresh jalapenos which paired well with the sweetness of the sauce. The base of the pizza was perfectly crisp and thin. The crust was fluffy, light, and airy. I feel like I could eat a ton of this pizza without filling up because of the lightness of the dough. The Lisa Simpson was chock full of fresh ingredients with a very tasty sauce and a lovely seasoning spread throughout (but most noticeable when eating the crust). The kale was prepared perfectly: not soggy and not burned to a crisp - just right! The vegan cheese was tastefully applied. Often, adding too much vegan cheese will add a gooeyness to pizza that isn't ideal, but the folks over at Oysterhead Pizza Company do it right. The OPC Margherita has exceptional flavor. The garlic puree adds a spicy medley of flavor to an already outstanding sauce and delicious fresh mozzarella. The fresh basil is a nice touch. I seriously can't stop eating this pie, despite being full. Overall, Oysterhead Pizza Company earns high marks for delicious pizza, great service, and an excellent atmosphere. I will definitely be returning to dine outside in the summer months. read more

Great pizza and the service is very good. We love the vibe of the restaurant. I only wish that they were open past 7pm.

Saw the place driving through town. Checked it out on Yelp and thought we'd give it a try. We ordered our dinner to go. Ordered the pepperoni pizza. Crispy crust and pepperonis, it was delicious. I would give that five stars. Unfortunately the wings were not so great. Ordered one with the traditional buffalo sauce, and the other was the blueberry BBQ. The meat on both of them had a weird texture like they were dried out. Maybe it was because we didn't eat them there. But don't think I would order them again. Will definitely order the pizza again when we are back next summer. And want to try one of their more creative pizzas. read more

Stopped nearby for EV car charging and picked this place for a meal. Ordered a pizza and meatballs. Was out around 15 minutes and was able to snag outdoor seating at picnic tables. Tasty pizza. I saw that they use bags of Napolese flour and were carrying in wood for the ovens. Nice crunch to the slices and the pepperoni was perfectly cooked. Slices were even. Good place to charge and eat if you're passing through with an EV. read more

Best pizza in mid coast, hands down. This is a wood fired pizza with yummy crust, perfect toppings and fun names!! The Kevin McCalister, yes please! Can be very busy with long wait times, but worth it. Their wings are also excellent. You won't be disappointed! read more

Delicious pizzas, great unusual choices. Plenty of beer and cider choicea too..great casual place to grab a bite

This place wastes customers time and thinks it is funny. Called for 25 minutes, and the line was busy. They had taken the phone off the hook Drove in to find an employee putting up a sold out sign, and laughing when I walked in. Try answering your phone. read more

I was looking to do take out (I had originally wanted to get pizza from another place that doesn't specialize in this delicacy but they weren't accepting take out orders that night but that meant a win for OPC!! ) and what a win it was!! My taste buds were happy and my hunger was cured! While I'm only in the area a few times a year, I can say it is a great addition to the area. While tourists may prefer to get their fill on the plethora of seafood restaurants this is 100% worth a visit, and it's right along the same street as all the shops. If were local, this would be my LOCAL pizza place (quite honestly I'm not sure how many other pizza places are around anyway). The price point seemed right for the pizza being served. This isn't your typical medium pepperoni; sausage, peppers & onions type of place. The menu offers fun named pizzas like the aptly named Kevin McCallister (Home Alone fans will understand). Overall the pizzas err on the side of "specialty" and come loaded with lots of toppings. I went to place the order online and was quoted 70+ minutes called and was quoted closer to 45 minutes. It definitely was over an hour before my pizza was ready. It was a Monday night and I know sometimes options for takeout/restaurant dining can be scarce but it was well worth the wait! The pizzas were still in the oven when I arrived & stayed pipping hot on my drive back to where I was staying. I wound up ordering the 16" Vincent Vega (sausage & pepperoni) the wood fired tomatoes in the sauce were unlike anything I've had before. The slices were decently sized & left plenty of leftovers when split with another person. This order also contained a 12" OPC Margherita. I neglected the next to the description and I was told it had some heat, but someone else who nibbled on leftovers didn't find it hot. The crust is also delicious. I found everything cooked perfectly and neither under or overcooked. Just a nice wood fired taste! Now if only I could get this pizza in Connecticut! Yum Wishing this newer restaurant nothing but success because I hope to be able to be a rerun customer for years to come. read more

Our visit to Maine could not be all about Lobster! We stopped in for a pizza this week and it wasn't bad. We had a pizza topped with Pepperoni, Meatballs and Pickled peppers. The toppings were delicious! Cannot complain...the cheese and sauce good as well, but the crust was a little doughy. It needed to be cooked a little longer as the pieces were saggy. Crust did have a good flavor though, just a little more cooking time and it would have been perfect! read more

6 of us stopped in for salad and pizza, first time, 2 were 8 and 5 year old grandkids, great games keep them occupied, started with house salad, simple baby greens, pepper strips, tomatoes both assorted colors, thin red onions, dressing was wonderful, maybe had raspberry vinegar? well done, then smoked and glazed wings, smoked right out back, glazed and finished in the oven, best wings I've had in whenever. pizzas we had veggie with fresh tomatoes, kale peppers, nice, pepperoni was loaded with the spicy sausages, cheese and tomato sauce used are top shelf, then came the deep-dish pizza, comes in a cast iron pan, cooked perfectly with crust the was crunchy, worth eating alone, loads of creamy cheese, pepperoni, service was cheerful and knowledgeable, beer selection was adventurous, seating is limited, but well worth a try. read more

Excellent pizza and service! Great little spot! Very small, but worth stopping by and grabbing a pizza

By far the best pizza you can get in Damariscotta and most of Maine. Our family hits this place up multiple times when staying at our home in Maine and the food never disappoints. We normally get the Deep Dish and Calzone, both of which taste amazing and are always worth the wait. The cashier is always super helpful with our order and taking phone orders which are coming in constantly. Inside, the restaurant has great styling, do note that there is limited indoor seating, so I would recommend eating outside or picking it up. Bagels are also great here and are served Saturdays and Sundays. read more

Today I ordered a pizza and calzone and both were excellent! Loaded with toppings/fillings and perfect crust on both. Calzone somehow managed to have a crunchy outer crust and a soft springy inside crust. Employees were superb, from the phone order taker to the employee who took cc info over the phone and brought order out. Both friendly and professional. Ok only downer was the beignets - not a fan. They were odd to say the least - do not expect New Orleans beignets. Fair warning! read more

First of all, wow wasn't that phenomenal holy guacamole!! the pizza was probably the best thing i've had this trip and i'm from Jersey, and you know Jersey has to have some good pizza right?? But wow am I stunned. I definitely recommend getting anything from this place especially the pizza or the sandwiches. Only problems I had with the place was the fact of how hot it got dining in, but I do consider that this place isn't really meant for dining indoors, it was a very hot day. I grew up working in a pizza restaurant in Chicago, prep kitchen and on the line and eventually running the kitchen so I know the struggles of making high quality pie in a demanding environment. This pizza is just flat out not worth the hype or the price. The toppings were light like one might expect when you were running out of ingredients at 1 am. Unfortunately I bought this pie at 5 pm. I'd rather make my own at home than order another one here. I had high hopes for a local great pie. I guess my prayers are unanswered. read more
