Don't let the tiny storefront in a random strip mall a mile from the coast and its namesake creek fool you; this place packs a punch. An incredible 17 beers on tap plus 4 seltzers and some incredible variety within that lineup. An Irish ale, a west coast IPA, a Belgian Dubbel, a Mexican lager... not to mention some really creative stuff you absolutely won't find anywhere else (and I've been to 60+ breweries in NJ) such as a strawberry cheesecake imperial cream ale, a black tea honey ale, a black currant sour, and the most insane beer I've ever seen on a brewery's menu: a tequila barrel aged, habanero infused 10% DIPA. My girlfriend and I visited on a Saturday afternoon in May. The guy working asked us if it was our first time, and welcomed us heartily when we said yes, which I think is a nice touch. He then asked us what our favorite types of beers are so as to make some suggestions from their extensive list. We each got a flight and then a full pour, and loved everything we tried. I think the true mark of a good brewery is when you are ready to leave, you want to buy some cans to bring home and enjoy later. Oyster Creek Brewing Co. in Waretown is an absolute gem! The beer selection is fantastic lots of great options to choose from, each one full of flavor. The bartender was friendly and welcoming, and trivia night was such a blast. The owners, who are a wonderful family, were actually there playing trivia with us, which made the whole night even more fun and personal. I stopped by here last week with my wife for some evening drinks. We were staying nearby and looking for a brewery whenever we came across Oyster Creek Brewing. The brewery itself is located in a strip mall and the inside was interesting. They had 16 beers on tap this day and the tables were interestingly decorated with circles talking about plume zones and ingestion zones. After guessing it had something to do with nuclear power, we looked it up and figured out that there used to be a nuclear power plant here. After that it made more sense as did some of their beer names. As I often do whenever I visit a new brewery, I decided to go with a flight. At oyster creek brewing a flight consists of 4 beers and so I chose the critical mass NEIPA, Sky Shine black tea and honey ale, half life cranberry hefe, and the 3-eyed fish. For my first beer I tried the Critical mass NEIPA which was a little bit sweet before the hops kick in at the finish. Second was the Sky shine black tea and honey ale which was also sweet at the start before the black tea comes in and then sweet at the finish. Third was the Half-life cranberry hefe which was smooth at the start and you could definitely taste the cranberry before a finish of sweetness. Last but certainly not least was the 3-eyed fish which started off with that tart lime flavor before moving into the dryness of a gose and finishing with, I'll be damned, the taste of Swedish fish. Out of the bunch I liked the critical mass the most but it's that 3-eyed fish which I will still be thinking about. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. While most of my beers were sweet, I did enjoy the IPA and the three eyed fish is definitely a conversation starter. read more

WARETOWN: Oyster Creek Brewing Company is a uniquely themed brewery in Southern Ocean County being 1-mile from Oyster Creek nuclear generating station. They have been "generating great beer" since 2017 and have a small indoor tasting room where leashed dogs are allowed. We love the radioactive logo on their taps, their 3-eyed fish t-shirts, and the names of their beers are clever from HALFlife Hefeweizen to NUCLEARwinter holiday ale. The staff is wonderful and were so friendly to Brie and the other pups in the place. You can bring your own food and there is a pizza/Italian place, Bella Pizza, right in the same plaza. The Ocean County Park's Barnegat Branch multi-purpose trail passes right in front where you can walk off the beers for a few miles. read more

We ordered a flight for $8: Flight [4] 0) Science 101 PB+J Ale - Definitely get the PB+J flavor, the peanut butter does come through pretty strongly but a really good beer. This is my #1 pick. 1) Yellowcake Cream Ale - This is in my opinion the least flavorful one. Don't get too much of the yellowcake or cream Ale. This would be my #3 pick 4) Meltdown Habanero DIPA - The kick hits you on the back end and it actually doesn't taste like it had a 86 IBU. This is my #4 pick. 14) Sky Shine Black Tea Honey Ale - You have that hint of the black tea but not too much of the honey. Still a good beer and very refreshing. This would be my #2 pick. This brewery is located in a strip mall on Rt 9. According to one of the staff, they have been here for three years. This place is smaller than most breweries that I have frequented, yet seemed cheerful and up-beat. Their taps (16+) included a wide variety for such a small brewery. We visited Oyster Creek Brewing on Route 9 in Waretown just south of Breakers in the same strip mall. At first glance the place looks tiny and once inside you realize it is pretty small. We were greeted by a friendly barman as we entered. Contrary to the saying, size doesn't matter. Judging from the two beers I tried, they are on par with the big micros (oxymoron intended.) Their double ipa was wonderful. Potent and super hopped without being sweet, with a nice bitter after taste. Their stout was delicious with a pronounced dark malty flavor and aroma. Great! Unfortunately we were traveling to other breweries so there was neither time nor inclination to try more of their beers, but there is always a next time, and there will be! read more

Oyster Creek, that's where the nuclear power plant used to generate. The reactor has been shut down but you can still get a reaction at Oyster Creek Brewing. This micro brewery resides in a strip center, on Route 9, just south of the plant. There is ample parking in their lot. There are a few tables as you enter engraved with an area map showing all of the local nuclear plants and the blast radius around each one. Okay, the owners have a warped sense of humor but they are forgiven since they brew beer in such close proximity. Many of the 16 rotating beers on tap have nuclear themed names as well such as Halflife Hefeweizen, Meltdown Habanero and ReactorCore Apple Cider Wheat Ale. We shared a flight of four samples for $8.00. Our favorites were the Tihange Belgian Dubbel and the Heavy Water Irish Ale. Oyster Creek Brewing is a fun place making enjoyable products. I hope they try making some Lagers and Pilsners. Stop by often and try them all. read more

Stopped in for a few. Been wanting to give the place a try. I liked it, of course it would be better post pandemic bs, but this is what we have. Small front area, a bit larger back area. Looks like they had board games and such to play in a normal era. We got a flight, 2 my choice, 2 hers. I don't remember which dark beers we tried, but they were good, the Marie Curie Strawberry Cheesecake Imperial Cream Ale (wow) was very tasty. That's a dangerous brew right there. It was like candy. Candy with a pretty high ABV (8.8). I really liked the Yellowcake Cream Ale. Thought it was really tasty, balanced, and no aftertaste. I love the nuclear theme here. Pays homage to the defunct power plant up the road. I plan on returning soon for a growler. read more

Oyster Creek Brewing is such a nice addition to Waretown, NJ. We had so much fun upon our visit today. They have only been open a week or so. There aren't so many bars in the immediate area, so this is one of the best places to hang out nearby. The owner, Kris, makes sure to greet all customers and show them around. We checked out Oyster a creek on a rainy day at the beach, and honestly we were left very underwhelmed. The location, situated right in the middle of a strip mall, is just immediately off-putting. Once you enter, the space is very small and not what you'd expect for "brewery vibes." Additionally, they were out of 4-5 beers on tap, so that was really disappointing. Ultimately, we each had one drink and moved on. The beer had a very high alcohol percentage and they didn't seem worth it! I'd skip this one next time. read more

Have stopped in twice in the last couple weeks. So far i love it. The blood orange is my go to so far. But I tried the pb&j and it's also very good. Casual atmosphere and staff is very friendly and informative. The strip mall it's in leaves a lot to be desired but don't let that scare you away. read more

My husband had a great time and learned a little bit about micro brews. I noticed it while passing on Route 9 and then my husband recalled the name from Manahopkin (that did not happen this year), so we decided to stop in for a flight. Very small inside but comfy and the staff is very friendly. They really know their beers and are very patient and you get a little education while you are there!! We ended up hanging and left with 2 six packs of varies beers!! We had a really great time and it was nice to get out of the house and have some fun. We will definitely visit again. read more

Very intersting selection, their Belgian Dubbel was fantastic, not many breweries can pull off a great Belgian. My freinds all enjoyed their beers. As i was leaving I saw they had a Belgian tripple in bottle only. I grabbed a bottle for the road. Absolutely phenomenal (13%) and it didn't have that overwhelming alcohol taste as some high alcohol beers do. Great atmosphere, great beers, and a great time you will have. I can't say enough good things about this place. They keep the music a human level so it doesn't turn into a shout fest. It's on the smaller side but everything else makes up for that. A nice bonus is that they have a special menu from Breakers next door that will deliver it to you.
