I hope that I can leave a zero-star review. Yes, I am an out-of-towner, but bring business to Myrtle Beach 2-3 times per year. I found Owen's 2-3 years ago near my rental. When we first discovered Owen's, they were great. Great selection and good prices. In the fall of 2024, we found prices to be out of line with the market. This week, I dropped by on a Monday night for a standard bottle. I saw a fair amount of allocated bourbon on the shelf. This included Weller 12 at $120. I thought about it until Wednesday and went back. It is now $208. When I spoke to either employees or owners both times, I was interrupted and argued with. There's a culture of deceit and treating customers like crap that is hard to grasp. I will never darken their door or spend another dime with these people again, no matter how many times I come to MB. Done! Go to Total Wine or Gator Hole!!! read more

Pretty good alcohol store that's clean and bright enough to help you feel comfortable browsing and looking for what you want. The selection can be a bit slim when it comes to size options, but it works. PROS: -Right off the main Myrtle Beach stretch, Owens is really easy to get to. It makes it simple and convenient for a quick alcohol run. Parking lot is spacious and easy to get around with quite a few spots. -The "wine arena" inside just looks good! Zero complaints there - and if you're really into wine, it feels a bit like you're in a candy store. -Good selection of different liquors - and everything is nicely organized. If you're looking for a specific type of liquor, it's in its section - and everything is pretty easy to figure out. The vodka area, in particular, is large. -Very clean and open store. Doesn't feel cluttered, run-down, or unsafe. It's a bright, comfortable building. CONS: -Due to limited space, it looks like Owens sacrificed carrying multiple sizes of different alcohol brands - in favor of carrying a larger variety. For example, we wanted Smirnoff Vodka - and instead of our usual bottle, Owens only carries the jumbo-sized bottle. Works for us - but not necessarily what we were going for. -Liquor and beer are in separate areas. Still find that odd, but I'm pretty sure it's a South Carolina required. -The beer selection is pretty limited - likely due to available space within the building. Owens definitely leaned towards expanding the liquor selection over a larger beer selection. I'd go to Green's Beverages if your primary reason for visiting is beer. Owen's has an okay beer selection, but it isn't very large. Most of the big brands and a few crafts, though. read more

Online selection doesn't reflect what is in stock (no matter what it looks like!). While I agree that this place stocks a greater variety of liquors than many other "independent" or small chain area shops, it's really annoying that you can't gauge the availability of a product from the ability to theoretically order it from their website at any given time. For example, I went in looking for something specific (unusual, but not particularly expensive, rare, or hard to source - just an international brand that stores in the South don't always stock) appeared available that the cashier said they hadn't had in stock in over a year (literally the last time I went in looking for it). In a difference example, I needed some Marsala for a meal I'd planned and already purchased all of the ingredients for, and the only bottle in the place was neither of the two varieties listed on their website, but a cheaper sweet variety. Prices are a little higher, but not totally out of pace with the wider selection. They seem to charge more for card transactions and neglect to give itemized receipts when you use a card (which feels very, very icky). Service was friendly. I've been here a few times and never had a problem. It may be the location, which is not in the highest foot traffic areas of N. King's Highway, but there isn't an issue with people loitering outside. read more

Owens Liquors is the finest spirits store I've found in the Myrtle Beach area. Their knowledgeable staff will help you find that special bottle in their extensive inventory. It's easy to strike up a great conversation with the staff, they love talking about their liquor. Owens has many unique offerings from distillers that other stores do not have. My guess is that they do more volume than most stores. Prices seem to be as good or better than most stores. Owens is our go-to store. read more

First off, SC law requires liquor stores to close at 7pm and they aren't open on Sunday. A lot of the reviews here were about wine and beer and they do have great selections But let's talk spirits. $1200 single malts. They got it. Boutique gins? About a dozen brands from the US and the UK you won't find anywhere else in Myrtle. Same selection goes for tequila, vodka, rum and whiskey/scotch/bourbon. read more

I've been here several times over the years. With that said, it's now one of the highest priced ABC places in MB. They do have a decent offering - but you will pay for it. And those "allocated", yeah, a store marking up 10-15x retail. I get it, there's a sucker born everyday. I'm just not used to seeing stores do this... As for the usual stuff - go to Total Wine and you will save 15-20%. For those that have $800-$1000 to buy some allocated bourbon when retail is $69-$99. Congrats! read more

This was a really nice liquor store the wine selection was very large and the way they presented the wine was pretty nice. They had almost every liquor you could get your hand on except my favorite Blantons. If ever in the area we will stop in for our liquor cheaper than drinking at the bar but not as fun. read more

IF I COULD GIVE IT ZERO STARS I WOULD. My boyfriend and I went in to see what all they had to offer. As we left, one of the staff members came out to follow us and took a picture of our licenses plate. We went back inside and asked them why, and they accused us of stealing. We were outraged, we also noticed out of everyone, she accused the ONLY minority couple in the store. Every other person in there has purses and bags, but she only accused us. She said she saw a bottle in my bag, WHICH WAS MY WATER BOTTLE. We told her it was wrong of her to accuse us, and she can check all the cameras she wanted, but we didn't steal a thing. We won't ever go in there, and we'll tell everyone about our experience. read more

Overall a solid store. Probably would rate higher if I was shopping for wine as that seemed to be a focus more than liquors or beer. Okay selection of bourbon. Pricing was mostly consistent compared to what I know in Ohio. Most was same or less but a few specialty/harder to find bourbons were noticeably more. I must say Owen's liquor definitely exceeded my expectations. I came here looking for liquor so I could make cocktails for a party. I originally went to another shop close by but they didn't have everything I needed so I came here. I really should have came to Owen's first because they had all the liquor I could ever need and they have a great selection. They also had a tasting for a new vodka and I learned quite a bit while at Owens. What really made this experience great was the fact that I happen to mention to the cashier that I was happy to see they carried a brand of bourbon that I really like but I was upset with myself for purchasing an alternative bottle at another store, the cashier offered to exchange the bottles since the brand I wanted was better anyway. They accuse their clients of stealing & even go out of their way to run to the parking lot to take a picture of their license plate. When confronted, they had a very bad attitude. I understand that there is a high crime rate in Myrtle Beach but there is no need to accuse random individuals of being thieves. I've been searching for the new American Brandy and Absinthe by Copper & Kings. Most of the stores in SC and NC have not even heard of them much less stocked them. I drove by Owens in Myrtle Beach and thought I'd try one more place. To my surprise, the three salesmen in the store were very knowledgeable about Copper & Kings and their products. They had them in stock at their Pawley's Island store and offered to have them at the Myrtle Beach store when they opened the next day. I wish there was an option for 0 stars. Moved to the area and thought I would see what stores get some limited supply of Rip Van Winkle. To my surprise they had several bottles of different vintages but price gouging was at it's finest. The $50 MSRP bottle they wanted $579, the $65 MSRP bottle was $599 and the $150 MSRP bottle was $1999. Looks like I will be doing our shopping at other local places. I'm all for making a living but that mark up is insane. If you have people willing to pay that for it at least auction them off and donate it to charity and take the write off. read more

We were in town for a wedding, and let me just say I've never been more impressed by a staff at a liquor store. The staff was friendly, helpful and accommodating.The selection was impressive and prices were what we expected. The store itself was organized, clean and welcoming.
