NOTE: Dry Cleaning To Your Door changed their name to OVERNIGHT XPRESS.
...and the award for *BEST DISAPPEARING ACT, EVER* goes to OVERNIGHT XPRESS! (aka, Drycleaning to your door.)
This company has a niche in the door to door dry cleaning service business, for busy professionals. Their website claims "Hassle-Free Service": all you do is leave your bag (provided by them) outside for the driver to pick up your soiled pretties, and they will provide same-day service, returning your clean, pressed clothes that evening. So what's the problem? Grab a seat.
The reason people choose this company, is of course, ease of use and convenience. Imagine putting out a bag chock-full of men's dress shirts (not T-shirts, not beater-tanks, not jeans...we're talking nice dress shirts here), to have it picked up, and then "POOF", it disappears!
Same day service? Nope.
Next day service? Nada.
A week passes....I think you get the idea. Presto-change-o, it's flipping gone.
To add insult to injury, when you phoned Julie at Overnight Xpress and explained your dilemma, she turned the tables on you, expecting you to tell her when it was picked up. Really? Honestly? So customers are expected to stay home from work and jot this stuff down? Pardon me, but doesn't that defeat the purpose of this hassel-free service?
Julie also eloquently points out: "Well, he was running late that day and he says he did not pick anything up at your house. He looked at his little clip-board and he says he didn't check it off." OHHHHHHHH!!! Well gosh, Julie, that makes perfect sense. Because he didn't check it off and was running late, then I guess we are in the wrong, is that it? Even though our children had to walk over/around the bag on their way to the bus stop that morning, even though the bag was not there later that day, I suppose the bag didn't exist at all, because that little box wasn't checked. Got it.
Julie also shared that clothes have "only" come up missing once in ten years. Really? The check-mark system when a driver is behind, is THAT dependable? Me thinks not. Well, the joke is on us. Jane says because the driver didn't put a stupid check mark in that stupid space/box/line/arm/forehead, therefore, they are not liable. I'm really starting to dislike check marks. And lack thereof.
Our significantly-sized porch is fully-covered, and very private. We have had countless deliveries over the years (Apple computers, electronics, TV's, furniture, etc...) and not once has anything been stolen. What's more, why would some random person steal a stinky bag of dirty clothes, not even knowing what size they are, or if they would even fit? Riddle me that!
If you do business with Overnight Xpress, be prepared to risk not getting ANYTHING back. Every last expensive piece: GONE. Wave a gentle goodbye to that stinky bag of lovelies, as you leave the bag outside on your covered porch (and as directed by this company).
Side note: I did some digging and discovered other folks in our neighborhood have had issues as well. One person had TWO issues: They received someone else's dry cleaning altogether, and had to alert Overnight Xpress, who was clueless as to the fact their trusted check-mark system failed. Another time, same day service was MIA service. Luckily, their clothes arrived the next day.
Hassel-free? Nope.
BEST DISAPPEARING ACT EVER.
