This was my second experience with this company. The first time was months earlier, in their Kent location. Very different and equally beautiful locations and stellar all around experiences at both shops. My partner and I are in our early sixties and late fifties. She took her time fitting us to the bike, explaining how they worked and the route and allowing us to test ride. The rental for two hours was $60 per person or half day (4 hours) for $70 per person. We enjoyed the quiet ride along Housatonic river. The roads the route was along had very little traffic. We saw many people walking. We also got to enjoy the covered bridge and the bridge on Water street as well as the waterfalls. It was just saw a lovely day. 10/10 recommend this rental location and the scenic route.

I'm writing to give my perspective of the Shop, to address some of Caitlyn's comments, and to help newbies understand a few things. ( no disrespect intended C. D.) Yes, the showroom is small. Yet some folks find that to be more cozy and intimate, regardless of the genre. Much like getting together in a small, country general store. Lots of good bike shops have that vibe, some good shops are huge. These guys stock a few popular, quality brands and cover a wide price range. It would be the manufacturer that labels the bikes small, medium, large - not the Bike Brothers. The Giant bike I bought from this store has a frame sized in inches. The Specialized bike I bought from (the shop around the corner) was measured in cm's. They roughly match, and both are considered a "large". Note that different builders may take their measurements from "here to there" from different locations. It's relative within the brand. Regardless, the first step is your stand over height. That Giant was the first real bike I owned. The Brothers asked all the right questions a bike shop should ask, and helped me get the right size frame. Also it was the bike that met my wants, needs and riding style. Contrast that to a shop in a nearby town that tried very hard to talk me into a drop bar cyclocross race bike (old inventory) that was so big I almost crashed it on the test ride! Not good. Those antics cost them the sale of the bike I was actually interested in. True story. Once you have the right frame size, getting a better fit for you in the "cockpit' is a matter of making minor adjustments to the components and/or swapping out parts. That's certainly all a casual or low mileage intermediate rider needs. True, the Specialized BG Fit System is state of the art. If you're an elite cyclist, or aspiring to be one, you might consider it. Dave, Marty, and many other elite cyclists probably never even saw the BG system, and still ride custom fit bikes. So did all cyclists before that System even hit the shops! Not bad mouthin' it. Just sayin'. The Brothers even helped me fine tune the fit of 2 bikes I bought elsewhere. (I'm not brand loyal, no reflection on this shop). No state of the art system needed. There were no hard feelings about those bikes. These fellas are good people. Bike Brothers performed some top notch adjustments and repairs on all my bikes. Their turnaround time was fast. They have an ample supply of quality components, accessories, and apparel for purchase in the store. Prices are competitive. Forget the goofy dollar sign ratings. We customers want value, these guys deliver. They always made time to answer MY newbie questions. I learned much about bikes and cycling from them. Value added. BTW, don't be in awe of a shop JUST because of the large inventory. For you, the new to this bike buying thing, it's mostly eye candy/"bike porn". Nothing I've written here is to discredit other fine shops. There's a few in your area. A good shop will help you stay focused. There's really only 2, maybe 3 bikes - your PERSONAL selection - that meets your immediate need, and only 1 (per category-you'll ultimately "need" a couple more) that you'll take home that joyful day! :)) Happy riding, be safe. We booked a few months in advance and glad we did because it was sold out the week of. You can either be in a two seater or a four seater. Check in and parking were easy once we arrived but beware that there's no cell service in the area. Staff were fantastic and really do impact the customer experience. Sam and others were spirited and seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs. This trail was 8 miles, 4 miles out and 4 miles back. Most of the time you're detached from other bikes but when crossing a major road, everyone had to be attached. If everyone is pedaling, it should be physically doable to go at a good pace, but it was not a stroll in the park either, which I liked. The person on the right controls the brakes. On the ride, you'll see a body of water, trees, hyped Phoenicia diner and just enjoy being in nature. There is shade throughout so even if it's a warm day, you'll probably still be okay. And didn't have any issues with mosquitoes either. They do provide large umbrellas for the weather and a basket to hold your belongings on the bike. When you reach 4 miles, there's a little break and patio chairs to sit, while they turn the bikes around. If you're in the front at the start, you'll be in the back to end. From start to finish, it was about 2 hours with waiting and stopping. They have bathrooms in a small camper facility that's pretty cramped and also a bathroom in the nearby railroad museum. Stop by the Ashokan Reservoir or explore neighboring towns if you have time.

They did a short 5 min safety talk to tell us how to use the bikes. They have pedal assist so as long as the person seated on the right in a two person bike is pedaling, you keep moving. The course was 8 miles, 4 out and 4 back. The staff does a great job at keeping everyone safe and keeping everything as efficient as possible. They turn the bikes around at the halfway point which takes 20 min or so. I would say you pedal in 15-20 min increments, 4 times. They stopped us halfway in each direction, connected all of the bikes and we pedaled across the highway together as the train crossing lights and gates were down. The speed really depends on the person in front of you. On our way there, we were spaced out perfectly. On the way back, we couldn't find a consistent pace because of other groups in front of us stopping to take pictures every few feet. The whole thing lasted about 2 hours. There are no restrooms at the halfway point but fancy portopotties near the parking lot. They also have hot cocoa packets complimentary. Your wrist band gives you discounts to a couple local businesses. Like others mentioned, there is absolutely no cell service so be one with nature! Wifi is available near the check-in area. It was a fun experience, but I did feel it was overpriced.
