Mike helped us plan out the timing of our events and recommended the perfect songs for moments where we hadn't yet figured out which songs to play. Michael DJed for my friend's wedding and I was so impressed by his work that I ended up hiring him for my own wedding. What makes him stand out from other DJs is how thoroughly he works with his couples to customize a unique playlist that's authentic to them and their love story. We wanted our playlist to be a mix of EDM, 2000s pop and hip hop hits and...Disney?! Interesting mix, but he pulled it off and we were so happy with how it all turned out! We had a couple of meetings with him before our wedding to iron out all of our details from the ceremony to the reception and of course the dance floor. The entire process leading up to our wedding day he was very communicative. We had a total of 3-4 calls with Michael where he documented the flow of the entire day, the music that would be played and all of the specifics that were important to my husband and I. He was so thorough and it made us feel so at ease going into our wedding day. I think something that sets Michael apart is his ability to be so personable to a couple and their needs. We worked with Michael and Ovation for our wedding in San Diego and utilized his services for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. As people who really care about sound and music, after searching for various wedding DJs and not really finding anyone who stood out, Michael came to us recommended by a friend and wedding planner who spoke highly of not only of his great MC skills, but also of his professionalism and organization, which at the time, we thought was an interesting comment to make about a DJ. Her comments soon proved to be absolutely accurate as Michael was efficient and organized from the moment we met him via email, with timely email responses, and prompt scheduling of Zoom meetings prior to our wedding. He also came prepared with his own wedding schedule/timeline on a Google doc which we were able to edit up until the week of the wedding as our ideas/songs/processional order changed. He reviewed several Spotify playlists we provided as inspiration for the ceremony and reception. We absolutely appreciated his professionalism throughout the process, as well as his expert feedback regarding our song choices. He is professional and adaptable, and clearly well-versed in all genres of music. Wow! What a night! Michael MC-ed our wedding in August and it was one of the funnest parties I've ever been to. Every single one of our guests, from 3 year old to 80 year old, were on the dance floor almost all night long. As I was researching different DJs, his positive reviews and the kind, professional vibes he gave out during our phone conversations sold me. We were recommended to Michael McNeill (Ovation Entertainment) from our wedding venue and WOW! What a pleasant surprise! At the beginning of the planning stages i was ignorant to how big of a roll the DJ plays in the event. A few weeks before our wedding we had a 1 hour phone call with Michael and he touched on every second of the wedding. He got song requests, Names of all family and friends, and names of all the vendors. When it actually came time for dancing this brilliant man pulled out props for our wedding guests, When he played Michael Jackson he handed out single sequins gloves, then glow sticks, then hats, and on, and on, and on. Best DJ ever, we used Michael for my youngest daughters wedding in 2017 and he was amazing, everyone raved about him and how much fun they had. My middle daughter got engaged and the first thing she said was make sure we get Michael to DJ, and so we did and he never disappoints. the wedding was fun and he was again amazing and he also goes above and beyond to make sure your day is special and that everything goes as planned. I can't emphasize enough how wonderful and AMAZING DJ/MC Michael is!!! My husband and I hired Michael for our wedding earlier this month and he is BY FAR our favorite wedding vendor. Michael goes over and beyond for his clients. Before the wedding, Michael met with us for about 5 meetings that lasted about 1-2 hours. In the meetings, we discussed and planned much more than our wedding songs - with Michael's help/experience, we carefully organized and constructed our entire wedding (ceremony, cocktail, and reception). Michael was pretty much like a wedding planner who guided us, gave us numerous fabulous ideas (that we used for our wedding), and really held our hands throughout the wedding planning process. He was a huge relief and help during a stressful process. Throughout the wedding, our guests had a BLAST and continuously complimented us on our choice of DJ/MC. Mothers, fathers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends were all pumped up and dancing thanks to our fantastic DJ/MC. My husband and I really feared having a dead/boring wedding (we've been to so many), but our wedding was lively and exciting. During the dance portion of our reception, Michael passed out glow sticks, lighted rings, shiny Michael Jackson gloves, sunglasses, etc. that our guests had tons of fun with. Michael made our reception into a huge PARTY! I still hear from guests who tell us that our wedding was the most fun and best wedding they've been to :) Overall, Michael is professional, fun to work with, and extremely helpful in planning an event. Our wedding was the best day ever. I wish I could take all the credit, but a lot of the credit was due to our amazing DJ and MC Mike McNeil with Ovation Entertainment. If you are looking for the perfect DJ for your wedding or event I promise you won't be disappointed by Mike, in fact even despite his amazing reviews online I was still blown away. He surpassed all of my expectations and then some. From the first day we met Mike we knew we were in good hands. He is extremely professional, knows everything about music and event production, and carried the evening so flawlessly despite the many moving parts. Don't waste your time interviewing anyone else because this is your guy! As someone who has worked as a wedding and event coordinator for several years now, I can tell you I have learned that a DJ can make or break your event. Mike is the best DJ I have ever worked with. Music selection- The thing that I enjoyed most about working with Mike was that even though he has done numerous weddings and events, he understood that every event and every client is different and he was able to help make our day unique and special by working with us to select music that we liked and represented us rather than a generic mix of HIS Music. We have a lot of people in our family that loves music and dancing and many people wanted to be involved in the selection of music process. Mike was so accommodating welcoming family members to be present at our meetings so that we could ensure we encompassed everyone's requests and music preferences. He was attentive to our requests for a mix of the old with the new as we had a mixed crowd at our wedding as well as Latin and Italian music. We, the bride and groom, were a little bit indecisive as far as which songs to choose for the special moments throughout the evening such as first dance, mother son dance, bouquet toss, etc... Mike sat with us for several hours to listen to different songs providing suggestions and and finally pinpointing every selection. Timeline and coordination - Not only did Mike MC and DJ our wedding but he also put together our timeline and helped us to structure the evening. This was one of my biggest concerns because our wedding had to end at 10pm and I was worried we weren't going to have enough time for dancing and celebrating. Mike understood despite all the moving parts of our wedding that we were there to celebrate, dance, and bring down the house. We also had the Trojan marching band at our wedding who gave us a window of when they would arrive. Mike was proactive about arranging a plan A and plan B for the schedule of events based on different moments they might arrive. It worked perfectly! Mike was also attentive to sensitive areas of our wedding asking who might be divorced or if there were recent deaths in the family etc so as not to upset anyone. He also was aware of and attentive to our do not play list and request not to have anyone get the microphone. He did a great great job! Mike also helped us to design the room layout to allow for the best acoustics and make sure we were the center of attention, rather than the DJ being the focal point. The lighting - mike did up lighting around the room for us as well as a gobo for the dance floor. He had never worked at our venue before and he did such a fantastic job! I highly recommend adding a lighting package with Mike. He was able to enhance the mood whether it was soft lighting for the anniversary dance or having the lights change color and turn a little more club like for dancing later in the evening. He was able to completely alter the ambiance without it feeling like a bar mitzvah. At one point when we were all on the dance floor I saw mike start throwing glow sticks, glow batons, blinking rings and more out to our guests. It was an awesome moment and I had no idea he had this planned. He went above and beyond and I was overjoyed! We also had a rented dance floor come in and Mike basically supervised the installation without question to make sure it was executed flawlessly and worked with his setup. The Percussionist- Mike had suggested and we opted to add in a percussionist at our wedding to play alongside Mike. At first I thought that's ok we don't need someone to bang on some bongos to "blurred lines", but man am I so glad we added the percussionist. It added a live element to our wedding unlike anything I had seen before. It was awesome, people are still talking about it! The event - I can't even express to you how incredible our day was and I know a lot of the evenings success was because Mike was there. He was so present in every element of the process leading up to and on our wedding day. People are still coming up to me to ask who our DJ was, so impressed. Dj mike is absolutely the best at what he does. He dj'd our wedding and completely exceded our expectation. He went above and beyond his contracted service. On top of that his price was more than fair for the excellent service he gives. He made our wedding better than expected. Hes punctual and good at communication. I would def.
