Hands down the best! From day one, Michael was a pleasure to work with. He went out of his way to really get to know me and my husband in order to give his best for our wedding last month. The music was a big deal for my husband and I, and the music selections he made were spot on for us music lovers! We especially love records, and he was able to bring his turntables and spin some vinyl for us, which was a wonderful bonus and lovely touch to everything. The music during dinner was so well done, that we had to open up the dance floor early for our guests who were pestering us to get the party started and start dancing! The dance floor was bumpin' the entire night. Michael is extremely personable, professional, has excellent taste in music, and will go above and beyond for his clients. read more

Michael was a wonderful DJ during our spring wedding in Ramona, CA! He had all of our guests dancing and enjoying themselves throughout the entire reception. His presentation skills during announcements were phenomenal. Announcements were a BIG things for my husband and I, due to the fact that we've been to so many weddings recently where the DJ's come off as either bored or rather cheesy. You won't have to worry about anything along those lines if you hire Michael. His voice was extremely confident and engaging during the entire wedding. We did things a bit differently and didn't have first dances with our parents. Michael was completely fine with our requests, and was able to lay things out where people didn't even notice! We had our ceremony, first dance, and dinner outside, while our dancing and cake cutting was held inside. Michael was flexible with transitioning in the middle of the night without any problems. He was prepared with his equipment and everything went smoothly. He's extremely entertaining and personable! I would highly suggest hiring Michael for your next event. read more

Behind The DJ Booth - DJs Near Me

We received so many compliments about the music played at our wedding. As much as I want to take credit for the music, I have to give all the props to Michael. What a rockstar. I'm a little embarrassed to reveal how I came across Behind the DJ Booth but I feel like Yelp is a safe place so...I googled "Orange County indie wedding DJ" and "Orange County hipster wedding DJ." This meta moment of self realization of what kind of couple my husband and I make, the type of music we listen to and the vibe we wanted for our wedding - as embarrassing as my google search history might be - led us to Michael and his wealth of music knowledge and uncompromising talent. Before the wedding, we communicated with Michael via telephone, email and in person to go over our musical tastes, our "do not play" songs/artists and other nuances to the ceremony and reception. At the wedding, Michael was on top of his game (showed up early, set up in a breeze, sound checked with members of the bridal party that performed during the ceremony and reception, and got EVERYONE dancing). The best part was when Michael took time to come visit me and my husband to congratulate us. On top of being a great dj, Michael is also super personable and overall just a great dude. He truly is a jack of all trades and can play nasty nasty music (twerking, put my thing down, flip it and reverse it, back that azz up), indie rock, Filipino line dancing music, and obscure French new age dance music - I speak from experience because we requested and Michael played all of that at our wedding. Our wedding day went by in a blur but whenever we had the small, slowed down moments to enjoy our evening, Michael provided the most perfect soundtrack to the best day of our lives. My guests, my husband and I cannot recommend Behind the DJ Booth enough. read more

Michael DJ'd our wedding in November of 2011. Our first impression of Mike was that he was extremely professional, organized and accommodating to our nuanced requests. His approach to our initial conversation showed that he was extremely knowledgeable to the services and progression of how weddings transition and he was very detailed in the questions he asked us which shows that he's been around the block a few times. During the day of, Michael came to the event right on time, impeccably dressed and ready to set up. No nonsense...straight business. Our guests really enjoyed the music during dinner and dancing and he helped move the wedding along smoothly with no rough patches in between. In short, Michael was great to work with and I highly recommend him for any event you are planning. read more

Michael was very kind and pleasant to work with during the planning process. He was flexible and provided good feedback during our in-person meeting. Unfortunately there were three issues that did not sit well with us. We discussed everything at our meeting including the do not play list he had us put together. Our DNP list had about a dozen songs and were told there is no way they will be played. I specifically asked him if the songs on the DNP list would be played if someone requested them and I was assured they wouldn't be. Unfortunately there were a number of the songs on our DNP list that were played on our wedding night. I counted 3 but there my have been more. I find the songs more annoying then anything so it wasn't the end of the world but what is the point of having a DNP list and reassuring me they would not be played when you are going to end up playing them? Secondly, during our in-person meeting before our wedding we discussed the mother-son dance. My wife requested a shortened version of a song with her dad, but I made very clear that I wanted to have the entire song I selected to play during the mother-son dance. I had made that decision early on and never changed my mind so there wasn't any miscommunication. So as my mother and I were sharing our moment together on the dance floor the music starts to fade out about half way into the song and his assistant, who was the master of ceremonies, started talking as if to wrap things up. I actually had to wave him off and tell him to get off the floor so my mother and I could finish our dance. Ruined the moment. Not happy. Third issue involves professionalism. Michael had a professional presentation but his assistant maybe wanted to enjoy himself as well because he was hitting on some of our guests and even gave one of them his number. You're a vendor. We paid you to do a job and do it professionally until 11pm. Perhaps his duties for the night ended once the dancing started but I don't want to hear about one of our vendors hitting on guests. Just a personal opinion. In terms of keeping the dance floor going he was phenomenal! We had a large group out there until the very end of the night. My parents said there was a couple songs like the "bubble butt" song that were a little too inappropriate. The speaker made some screeching noises but that's probably because person using the mike was too close or wasn't using it properly. read more

Michael was awesome!!! We used him to DJ our wedding at the San Diego Botanic Gardens and he did not disappoint. Everyone had such a great time. He is super professional and is really good and picking up the vibe you want for your wedding. I am so happy we choose him to be our DJ. 5 stars from the Van Schoiacks! read more

We couldn't have asked for a better dj/mc for our wedding 2 weeks ago. We were pretty particular with the vibe we were going for and Michael made the whole process seamless and stress free. Not only was he super professional, but he totally understood what we were going for and added some great tunes to match. His music knowledge is immense and we even took a few minutes to talk about some of the jams we grew up listening to and how they blow all the current stuff out of water. Our venue threw a few curveballs our way with very strict setup/takedown times and even other restrictions on where he could set up and how loud things should be, but Michael was always accommodating and nothing seemed to faze him at all. It definitely took a lot off of our plate and he made sure that we didn't have to worry about anything related to music or emceeing. He made sure to arrive early and also stayed late to clean up. All the guests at the wedding kept coming up to me all night to let me know the music was amazing and that the DJ was putting on some great stuff. The dance floor was packed all night and we're so happy that Michael was the man "behind the dj booth" (see what i did there... haha). Thanks for an epic night Michael!!! read more

How can I thank this guy enough! Michael did an amazing job at our wedding! First off let me start by saying I called Michael a couple days before the wedding and went through all the music selection. Then due to a personal issue my wife and I had we called him last minute to cancel. The next morning we called him back and told him the wedding was back on! That was on the day of the wedding! Through the whole process Michael was very patient, kind and understanding and made it happen! He arrived 2 hours early and had all his own equipment. His music selections were exactly what we wanted if not better. Everyone on the dance floor had a great time. We had special requests for the bridal party to be introduced and he worked that to perfection! The here comes the bride music was perfectly on cue when my wife walked down the isle. If you need someone to DJ any of your special events, I would highly recommend Michael. Not just because he is a great DJ but he is an even better person!! Thanks Michael for everything, my wife and I greatly appreciate all you did for us!!!!! read more

Michael is a talented and professional DJ. I have been to a couple events that DJ Michael Tino has played at including a birthday and a wedding. Michael will definitely get the crowd moving with his eclectic and upbeat style of music. Michael is punctual and is willing to work with the hosts to meet the needs of his customers. We hired Behind the DJ Booth to provide DJ services for my in laws 50th Golden Anniversary. I would highly recommend DJ Mike Tinio's services. He was prompt, responsive, professional and very helpful with being flexible on our song selections. Most of all, he had a dance floor of all ages 5-80 moving and shaking in the afternoon right after lunch, very difficult to do but he did it. I would highly recommend Mike Tinio for any you are considering. his services contributed to my in laws lifelong memory and we thank him for that. read more

Michael DJ'ed our wedding last month and he did an amazing job! He is very professional, helpful and definitely knows his music. His music is not just about mixing songs together but more about setting the mood and tone for the event. We liked that he had such an eclectic musical taste. When we asked for music/song suggestions for the different parts of the cocktail hour and reception, he took the time to give us a sample play list of songs that would compliment each other. He's really easy to talk to and friendly. He worked really well with our other vendors also. Our guests had a great time and our dance floor was always full. I highly recommend Michael! read more

I have been at multiple company events where Michael was the hired DJ. I have always been impressed by his work and his timing. I have struck up a few conversations and he is very personable without being over the top (great quality for a DJ) I have a party that I will be hosting soon and will plan on using him. His prices are very reasonable and I can't wait to wow my guests with a professional DJ. read more

Event: Continuous Night - A Preview of the 2012 Art Collection, Open Mic in OC Tuesday, November 8, 2011 and Tuesday July 10, 2012 Mesa Lounge, 725 Baker Street, Costa Mesa The event was held at a high end lounge in Orange County called Mesa. The requirement was to keep it classy and hype. DJ Michael Tinio is a great way to go for your event's entertainment. I've heard of DJ Michael Tinio on a fashion/photography blog as well as through a few referrals. At first I thought that he may be out of my budget range. We needed a DJ with versatility and skill. My event was successful and I received compliments on music selection and clean music transitons. DJ Michael Tinio was not only prompt, professional and got the crowd going...but he was very personable. Since then, my company has acquired his services for other shows and events. I would highly recommend his services and would be happy to provide further insight if requested. Cheers! - Jessie Castro - The Continuous Line (www.thecontinuousline.com) read more

Michael is amazing!! Since we planned our wedding from Memphis our first meeting was via FaceTime, he was so helpful through the music selection process. The first thing he said to us was, "I have been in your shoes and I know how important this day is", which was comforting. He really made process fun and easy!! My family is very hard to please and he got everyone on the dance floor, and they danced the entire time. Our guests raved about how much their feet hurt the day after. We even did the Congo line, which says a lot. My guests loved the variety of music he played from the 50's to today's hits. Even my planner said that she has never worked with a DJ that was so organized. I can't say enough about Michael. If you want someone who is organized, takes guests requests, easy to work with and can read the crowd, Michael is your guy. I am so glad I found him!! read more

My wife and I knew how important the DJ is to a wedding, and Michael did an amazing job at ours. He was an awesome person to work with! Always checked in on us months prior to our day. He was giving us advice on vendors that we still needed and helping us with ideas and he was only our DJ! lol.. Our guests loved his choice of music. He definitely set the mood right at our wedding. I HIGHLY recommend Michael for any event that you have planned. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ! read more

I heard Michael play at a company event of 1000 employees and I was going to be presenting an award with a coworker. I was able to talk with him prior to the event regarding his business and what he offers and what the process looks like. After a few minutes of talking with him I asked if he could play a certain song for me as my coworker and I walked up to present an award. He laughed at first but then said it would not be a problem and he did it for me. Throughout the awards banquet I was able to see his talent. He has a knack for DJing and it is amazing to see him work. He is also personable and has a positive attitude about everything. I hope that I can use him for a personal event soon. From what I was able to see, anyone who books Michael will be thoroughly impressed and he will be the perfect piece to any event/venue. read more

I work for a large privately held Real Estate Development company. Michael has been the DJ at our corporate events. Hands down Michael and Ryan are DJ/MCs ! I received so many compliments on the music and how interactive they were with all the guests! They dressed so professionally and just made me feel extremely comfortable as a bride. I knew they were on top of everything and they were great at keeping me on the schedule. I loved that they came out on the dance floor a few times and gave my guests the microphone and got to sing their hearts out. I LOVED that Michael even took really awesome artistic photos and posted them on his Instagram and used our hashtag so I was able to have his photos and videos from their point of view. That was just really awesome and as a a bride it was such a huge thing for me. Leading up to the wedding, Michael made the process so easy! We met twice over coffee to finalize the playlist and such and I knew that the music would be everything I asked for. He has every type of music available and kept the dance floor going. They were great at reading the crowd and making sure their was never a dull moment! Also, we had a huge bridal party(11 bridesmaids and 11 groomsmen) and each couple had their own song during their introduction and it was just perfection! Behind the DJ Booth is just PERFECTION! On our wedding day we were stressed about a lot of things but not once did we worry or stress over the music or ceremony because we knew from talking to Michael that he is a perfectionist that takes pride in his work and had everything handled. Our wedding truly wouldn't have been the wedding of our dreams if it weren't for Michael and Ryan! read more

Michael was the perfect choice for our casual backyard wedding reception. I'm sure we were much different than his usual formal wedding reception client, but being the pro that he is, he adapted to the crowd immediately and played awesome music that appealed to everyone.
