As someone who has stayed in multiple co-living spaces across different cities, I had high hopes for Outstay. The branding, the price point, and the promises made on the website all pointed to a premium, community-driven experience that combined comfort, flexibility, and connection. Unfortunately, what I encountered didn't quite live up to the expectation. Let's start with the positives. The community itself wasn't bad. I had the chance to meet some genuinely kind and interesting people--fellow travelers and remote workers who, like me, were looking for a sense of belonging while on the move. These personal connections were arguably the highlight of my stay and one of the few things that aligned with what Outstay markets: a chance to plug into a global, supportive community. However, the rest of the experience was underwhelming and at times frustrating. My private room, which I had selected specifically to ensure some level of comfort and privacy, felt neglected from the moment I walked in. The floors were visibly dusty, and there were broken fixtures that hadn't been repaired prior to my arrival. It gave the impression that basic upkeep had been overlooked--which is surprising, especially given the premium cost associated with the stay. The common areas, while designed with social interaction in mind, quickly became overcrowded. At first, I appreciated the energy of shared spaces, but when it becomes hard to find a clean table, a quiet nook to work, or even a seat in the kitchen, it crosses the line from "vibrant" to chaotic. Furthermore, basic supplies--such as toilet paper, dish soap, and even clean mugs--ran out regularly. These aren't glamorous details, but they're part of the everyday functionality that guests depend on, and their absence was noticeable. Another area that fell short was the communication and operational consistency from the staff. To their credit, the team was polite and responsive when I brought up issues. They didn't ignore my concerns, and I could tell there was a willingness to help. The problem was in the follow-through. Promises to send someone to fix the room were delayed or forgotten. Requests for restocking or cleaning were acknowledged but rarely resolved in a timely manner. It left me feeling like my comfort was a low priority--an afterthought rather than a focus. All of this contributes to a central issue: the gap between Outstay's promise and its delivery. The website and promotional materials speak of a "seamless co-living experience," but the reality, at least in my case, was anything but seamless. For a brand positioning itself as a premium option, there's a clear disconnect between aspiration and execution. To be clear, I don't think Outstay is beyond redemption. There are some good bones here--a potentially strong community, a well-intentioned staff, and a concept that many people (myself included) really want to believe in. But it's time for them to go back to the basics: clean, functioning private rooms; fully stocked and maintained shared spaces; timely responses that are followed by action. These are not luxury expectations--they are the foundation of a decent guest experience. Until then, I wouldn't recommend Outstay at its current price point. With some operational improvements and a greater emphasis on daily support and maintenance, it could live up to its own hype. But for now, it falls short. read more

Living in New York is always an adventure -- and staying at Outstay Coliving was definitely part of that ride. I spent a few months there, hoping for a home base that felt both social and comfortable. What I got was... a bit of both. The location is definitely a strong point. Being close to public transportation and having everything you need within walking distance makes day-to-day life easier. I also liked the idea of living in a community setting. It's a great way to meet people, especially if you're new to the city or traveling solo. There were some nice moments of connection with other residents that I really appreciated. That said, a few things made the experience less enjoyable than it could have been. Cleanliness, for example, was hit or miss -- especially in the shared spaces like the kitchen and bathrooms. Sometimes things were fine, and other times it felt like they were overlooked. Noise could also be an issue depending on who you were living with, and the general upkeep of the room and furniture left a bit to be desired. For the price, I was expecting something a little more well-maintained and consistent. In short, Outstay has a great concept and the potential to be a really solid option in the coliving world, but there are definitely a few things that need more attention. RUN AWAY AND TAKE YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE! 946 BEDFORD AVE List of reasons this place is NOT worth anywhere near what they're asking: They have cameras looking directly into bedrooms and bathrooms. Illegal and a form of harassment. Who knows what nefarious purposes they use this for? The management don't care. They hire volunteers from other countries. They speak little to no English and don't manage a thing because they're young and have no experience. In the short time living there I saw 6 building "managers." They don't give you a key for mailbox. Then take weeks to give your mail. Almost all mail service providers except USPS smaller mail don't have keys to get into building, meaning that your packages could be left outside and possibly stolen. No laundry on site. Misleading advertising, this place has No gym. Furniture is not good as they claim and is worse than IKEA. Another false claim that the rooms are spacious, yes for a closet. They let overnight guests stay for a price, which is an inconvenience for other tenants. Imagine sharing two bathrooms and small living spaces between 6 or more people. All of this to make more money, greedy. This address is located in the most inconvenient area. Fast food is a mile away. The one closest is KFC and it's horrendous. No name groceries near by. No shopping. Very strange for somewhere in NYC to not have basic conveniences. During winter, this place is extremely cold. The units in wall do next to nothing. Not having proper heating is a violation in NYC. I have seen the maintenance guy come into someone's room without their consent, which is illegal if not an emergency. Know your rights! The lighting is missing, very dark and depressing vibe inside. Plumbing has constant issues. Good luck calling the rude repair guy. Horrible attitude. Complaints and issues are not resolved yet they mark them as such with their app. Constantly dirty outside of building and lobby. Full of trash. Homeless people come onto property. I even caught one looking right into the window of living room. The backyard is a dumpster filled with furniture and trash. read more

Stayed at Outstay for a month. The room was comfortable, but the building was often noisy, especially at night. The kitchen and bathrooms were not always clean, even though there are supposed to be shared responsibilities. The location is decent, but I expected more organization overall. read more

WHATEVER YOU DO NOT BOOK HERE THEY HAVE STOLEN MY MONEY AND I WAS HARASSED WITHIN 48 HOURS OF BEING THERE AND HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO LEAVE. From the moment I got there, the apartment was absolutely disgusting, covered in dirt, smelled of cigarette smoke, dishes everywhere, urine on the toilet seat. Seriously one of the most disgusting places I have ever walked into this is how they gave it to me when I showed up! When I expressed my concerns to Tolu who moved me in she said "cleaning issues are between roommates and that is not my job". She never introduced me to my roommates, there was no community leader, no support 24/7 as described on their website. The services they claimed to provide on their website did not exist. I asked her if I could be moved or someone could be sent to clean. She never spoke to management and I never heard from them about my concerns of cleanliness and cigarette smoke in the unit. I was harassed by the roommate on the property my 2nd night there and could not even leave my room to go to the kitchen without being screamed out by the other roommate who was smoking cigarettes in the apartment, opening all the windows in the middle of January, and displaying neurotic behavior. They would stand over me and try to physically intimate me until I felt so unsafe I had to leave immediately. The person was not removed from the property even after this and my harassment concerns were never addressed. I have emailed and called SharedEasy over and over with no response. They did not take any of my concerns seriously, have denied everything, and now have stolen my money and security deposit even though I had no choice but to leave after 2 days because their property was unsafe fraudulent in providing the services described on their website. I was then threatened by their management that they will sue me for telling my honest experience with them, called names, and made up lies blaming me the victim and customer. I was told the only option was to move to a different location after being screamed at by Michael which is not a solution because they could not provide me a safe environment that upheld the services promised on their website. Nobody could tell me who was in charge, provide a real address, or even a real phone number other than the one on their website and corporate hotline. This company is a scam and could care less about their customer's safety and experience they just want your money. They are now making up fake stories about me to try and win the case and just lying through their teeth. I have never encountered such an ill-hearted group of people who profits off of taking advantage of people who do not know the city well. I am currently in a legal battle now that they have failed to return my payment and security deposit despite and was also caused severe emotional damages due to being harassed and having nowhere to live when moving to a new city. This is concerning the co living "appartements": Management is dismissive and unresponsive to complains such as lights not working, electricity going out, cracked ceiling... it's okay if you only plan to stay for a short period of time, but if you stay for a while the issue with management and their lack of accountability will get tiring. Definitely not worth the exuberant price you end up pay, either. They are making bank and can't even bother to keep up a certain standard of living. I honestly would recommend living in a dorm if you are student. Or figuring out another living arrangement. Also if you see cockroaches in the apartment management will dismiss it or blame it on you. read more

DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. If you are looking for a place that has bedbugs and unprofessional management that lies about the problem and blames and threatens their guests, LOOK NO FURTHER, you've come to the right place! The day of my check-in (Sunday May 16th 2021) I was informed by everyone in the apartment, some of which had been staying in the apartment since September of 2020, that there was a bedbug issue that had remained unresolved for months. I contacted the host the next day and he informed me that there was no bedbug issue and that another guest, whom he mentioned specifically by name, was lying to me. Days later on Thursday, May 20th, my roommate and I begin to see bedbugs. We took so many videos and photos and even one of my friends who had come to visit had gotten bit. I sent all of these to the host and Airbnb who I did the booking through. They have refused to give me a refund and Airbnb has been no help and I am having to spend the next 3 months in a bedbug-infested apartment that was not as pictured on Airbnb initially. They told Airbnb that an exterminator was due to come that day at 6 pm and of course, none showed up, but the house manager did...with bedbug traps he placed under our beds while he claimed that "bedbugs do not go on mattresses because they are synthetic." The longer I spend here, the worse the problem is becoming because they are denying the problem is real and blaming other guests for lying and threatening to take them to court over them "trying to ruin the business's reputation." Days later and after calling Airbnb 7 times and requesting a refund, the house manager shows up again and says that the dead carcasses of the bedbugs on the back of the headboard are DIRT... If you are considering book with SharedEasy, DON'T! Try Roomrs or Outpost Club or an ALLEYWAY... Surely, all of those options are better than the experience that I and my roommates have had while staying with SharedEasy. read more

SharedEasy is the most unprofessional hosting company I've ever come across. Safety is not a priority for these people, as management will insist that main entrances into the apartment remain open during the day - even on the "female only" floors. It's typical to run into strange men on the female floors who leave behind trash and blood in the bathrooms and the kitchen. The security cameras do not work. There are strictly no refunds, even under extenuating circumstances. They'll ask that you book outside of Airbnb, the payment method of which will ask for your banking routing number. The rooms are prices well above market value. The apartment is cleaned weekly but not "sanitized" - so beware anyone who doesn't want to catch COVID. No air conditioning in the common areas, and the ones in the bedrooms took an act of god to receive. All requests are met with the response "if you don't like it you can leave". Without your money, that is. The doors do not come with keys so anyone can enter any of the bedrooms at any point, which staff does often without notice. The customer service phone number is out of service. The customer service emails are a front and are all answered by the same individual. This property is a townhouse but operates like a mismanaged hostel. read more
