Lightning this apartment, when you haven't rented it before, has always told you that it is a very quiet apartment. When I moved in, I realized it was a complete lie. I live on the east side near the parking lot side, near the highway and train tracks, and the sound of traffic and honking horns is simply unavoidable. And the warehouse that faces it is also very noisy with the sound of unloading every weekday. These sounds might be acceptable with earplugs, but the most unacceptable thing I can't take is having an unbelievable neighbor. The family that lived above me walked around the house barefoot from morning to night and even in the early hours of the morning every day, and the sound of that floorboard vibrating would cause the doors of my cabinets to vibrate very loudly. This vibration is a sound that cannot be blocked out with earplugs, and it has caused me to have a mental breakdown for a long time. I tried to communicate with the management office, but only the first time I got a response, and obviously nothing changed. Sent a second or third time and no one replied. I also tried to go upstairs and knock on the door to communicate and they didn't even apologize and said they were just walking normally. They also always drag furniture around at night. I can hear the kids upstairs wrestling and I can even hear them arguing. In short, don't choose this place! read more

My husband and I have lived here for one year. I first want to add that a major reason for moving is the actual town of Harrison, as opposed to the building itself. Now here is 221 Bergen review: The Good: -Apartment are super spacious and with a lot of natural light -Gym was a decent size (although could use more equipment) -Maintenance gets done pretty fast -Management is really nice and responsive -If you are willing to pay more, you can have an indoor private garage The so-so: -Terrace furniture is not really cleaned/maintained (was super dusty). -Confusing entrance. The building has an East and West entrance as the main entrance. If you put the address on the GPS, it will lead you to the main entrance however tenants do not live here. So when you order take-out or order Fresh Direct, you have to specify East Entrance. Since the GPSS leaves them in the main entrance you have to tell them to walk to the East Entrance and for some reason, a lot of people don't know where to go. Also food delivery do not go upstairs so you always have to come down to pick up food. The Bad: -I left my yoga mat in the terrace and someone stole it (come on, what kind of yogi steals someone's else mat). - Our apartment was in front of the elevator so we heard the elevator sound all day and could hear everyone's business (so make sure your apartment is not front of the elevator). Final Verdict: If this building was somewhere like Jersey City, we would have probably stayed. read more

As far as buildings go, there is no reason to complain about 221 Bergen. There's always pros and cons and for us, the pros definitely outweighed it all. We lived in the building for 2 years and the reason we are leaving is that due to a new promotion in another building, we are getting 200 sq ft apartment for about the same price (locked in for 2 years) that we are currently paying in 221 Bergen. There's some things that can be faulted, let's start with those... While this may not be relevant now (as Andrew is doing a great job as the property manager), we had a horrible experience with scheduling an appointment here and seeing the space. It was pure luck that there was availability in the building and my fiance booked an appointment that day with the leasing office. We were told other people were interested so we started the application that day. We signed the apartment sight unseen and basically had to "imagine" how the space would look like. Things have certainly changed for the better but I still have nightmares about this experience. Although there are no regrets that we signed spontaneously for this building, I do have to say it is a very stressful process. Amenities are non-existent. There are nice lounge areas and a plus is that they are rarely occupied. However, the amenity "fee" that is paid per year upon lease renewal always makes me a bit bitter for the fact that we don't have any. We certainly don't get to pick our neighbors so this is a mixed bag and not something that would apply to every unit in this building. However, Andrew had been very helpful with any issues and for that we are very grateful. We love our unit and we have no issues with anything faulting (fridge, washing machines, etc, all works great). The space (we have a studio) is perfect for 2 people. We do have the best price and sq footage in Harrison based on our studio. You CANNOT find something like this. However, for us, we are looking to expand, but could easily have spent 2-3 years more in that space. Overall, for the price and the location, this place is amazing. We will definitely miss our time here and Andrew, who has been a breath of fresh air since he took over managing the property. I wholeheartedly recommend this building because every place has its pros and cons, but this building definitely have the pros outweigh the cons. read more

Building is good but management.... let me tell the truth. I used live in unit 214. And unfortunately this unit has a big noise problem. Unit 214 is adjacent to the fitness center. They put a huge air compressor in fitness center ,right beside the wall of my master bedroom and it works randomly sometimes during midnight with horrible noise which drives me crazy. I tried to figure out and emailed them ask why They seemed never ever reply email until I told them if they still do not reply email I will post the issue online. Then they replied and told me they thought my request was unreasonable ,they thought me asked them to close the fitness center for me. I NEVER said that. I just ask for reason and tried to find solution. Ray, the maintenance guy told me he promised that the noise was not caused by the compressor and if the noises happened again I can call him anytime including midnight. Until I took video as evidence proved the noise did come from fitness center and caused by compressor! They told me they cannot stop that compressor and just replace one with lower noise! 221 Bergen - Apartments Near Me - Harrison, New Jersey

221 Bergen has been a delightful experience since moving in. My Fiance and I were looking to move to the Harrison/Jersey City area and checked out every luxury building in the area (literally every single one) before pulling the trigger on Bergen. This is a more quiet community that is located away from the madness. In addition, it's small, contained, clean and conveniently located (away from Frank E. Rogers, yet still walk-able to the PATH and easy to hop on 280). This isn't the most 'Flashy' building in Harrison (it's actually one of the more bare bones properties in Harrison), but you get a team (Jessika and Ray) that helps you whenever required. Ray and Jessika seriously make this property! (Whenever anyone asks me about 221Bergen, I mention how 221Bergen has the greatest onsite employee's out of any property management in Harrison). They are extremely helpful and literally look into any little request you have. I can seriously say that despite a lot of competition in the area, I will be single-handedly renewing my lease based on Ray/Jessika alone. read more

I just happened to see that there weren't any recent reviews here so I thought I'd add my quick 2 cents. Pros: I really love it here, in terms of the building and upkeep itself. Like any building, it has had its problems in the last 2 years of me living here, but they've been pretty minor compared to the other places I've lived in the past. In fact, this is the first place I've ever stayed in longer than a year, so that says a lot, to me! I live on the top floor so I can't complain much about noise. I never really ever hear my neighbors, so I'd consider the walls thick. I really like the layout of my 1bdr unit, and the fixtures look new and not dated. Every room, including the bathroom feels spacious compared to other apartments I've checked out in this area (2 years ago). The maintenance staff, particularly Karyl, are fantastic!!! Everything I've ever needed fixed happened on excellent timing, and even in the pandemic when they couldn't come in our units, Karyl helped me fix my own refrigerator and dropped off the tools and supplies and then guided me over the phone, and trust me, I'm no plumber/mechanic. Our former building manager, Andrew, was so nice and new everyone's name. Once I had a friend get lost and ask him for my apartment by my first name only, and he literally walked them to my unit and didn't have to look me up. It has been nice living in a building where my manager knew me and looked out like that. We have a new manager now so I hope he can keep up! Lol Cons: My only negative remarks are that when it snows, snow removal in the parking lot does not include removing snow from empty spaces. This year we had a ton of snow and having to shovel out my own spot when the lot was full and my space was taken became exhausting. Also, there is a dog park, which is good, but it's *tiny*. Unless your dog is like a teacup chihuahua, you'll probably want to walk your dog around the concrete jungle of Harrison, too. The elevator is a bit slow (but obviously, I'm nitpicking now) and it did get stuck at least once, but at least there is one that's in working order 99% of the time, compared to other places. I also wish that there was the option for a more communal vibe, but I'm SO glad I don't have to pay a huge amenities fee for a pool table I'll never use and a pool that's only in use for 3 months, etc. I meet people as I go and that's good enough for now. My last complaint is that during the day, construction of new apartments nearby and the warehouses can be troublesome for those working from home. Before the pandemic, this wasn't relevant to me most days, but now it's annoying and sometimes interferes with my job. I think the majority of noise will die out over the next couple of months as those apartments open. Outside noise isn't something I'll blame this complex for, though. It's literally outside of their control... you just have to evaluate that kind of thing in your search. Bottom Line: Anyway, I'd recommend this place for anyone who wants to come home to a well designed, typically peaceful, aesthetically pleasing place with lots of good space in your unit and where building issues are handled expediently with a smile. I'd only move out at this point for more grass for my puppy, which sadly Harrison generally lacks. read more

My fiancé and were at 221 Bergen for just over 3 years. We had previously moved from a neighboring "luxury" building, that seemed to be falling apart after only a year. We got an excellent price and a much more quality apartment at 221, and were able to rent a personal one-car garage which was the best perk (aside from the full-size washer/dryer). Over the years the management and maintenance changed, but my most recent experience was with Andrew, who was the absolute best by far. He answered emails promptly, got things taken care of in a timely fashion, and was super friendly. We really loved this building and were sad to leave (we got engaged in apartment 303!) but ultimately we needed more space. I would highly recommend this building above the others in the area because it has less units so it has more of a community feel and makes it easier for management to take care of the residents and give them the attention they need if something arises. The appliances and overall apartment were very well made and the layouts are spacious. If you commute to NYC, the walk to the PATH is about 8 minutes. AND there are some pretty awesome stores/restaurants in the area now, too. Check it out, you won't be disappointed! read more

I moved in 221 Bergen last June and have been enjoying living here so far. Inside the building it is very safe and clean. It is also very convenient with Path subway, grocery, pharmacy, library, and even a good barber shop within walking distance. Jessika and Ray are very attentive to the residents' needs. I also love the monthly residents gathering held by the office, where I get to meet new friends and enjoy a nice dinner. 221 Bergen would be even better if it was more child friendly, for example, having a playground, swimming pool, etc. read more

Every week at least 2 days I'm taking a cold shower something is not right with the water heater in the unit. I'm not loving the location and the view is of a parking lot and loading dock. With the noise from the trucks, it's very hard to be on video calls for work. Package room is a mess and you have to walk from one side of the building to the other! Packages are left outside because the delivery people can't get in. I have had 3 work packages and 2 personal packages disappear (tracking shows delivered) in the last 2 months. Andrew is AWESOME guy! However when my lease is up, I will be moving to a better location with a decent view and a system in place to get my packages! read more

The current management of this place is money sucker. Besides the ever increasing rent, which means at least 3% per year, they really tried their best to rip off every penny from you. They charge $300 amenity fee per/year for a tiny gym, and $35 garbage fee per month. Have you ever heard any amenity without garbage collection? And the worst, they pick bones from eggs after you move out to deduct most of your deposit. I lived here for 2.5 years and it used to be good. But the management change happened in the end of 2016 changed everything, we miss the old days when Jeffery and Zach was in charge. read more
