The events have dwindled down to club activities. 250 per car per month is just absurd. Had multiple car thefts while living there and they installed a gate that never closes cause they also provide public parking for the Redbulls games. The street will mess up the alignment on your car and the amenity fee is 99 per person per month. Our 400 sq apartment just was not worth the 2900 rent. Love the look of this place though

But no matter how beautiful the environment seems at first, their condescending, incompetent, irresponsible, back-stabbing management team will definitely leave a bad taste in your mouth. After being tormented by noise from upstair neighbor for a month, trying to get management to do something and failed, I finally make a angry phone call, that get myself the honor to talk to his royal highness, J. While he could have at least apologize for their incompetence, he chose to start the call with chastiing me about not being nice enough to the team. :) The angry phone call was definitely angry, I will admit it. But keeping my voice at a normal volumne, and using some not-so polite-adjetive to describe the noise is the most calm I can be. After a month of anxiety, of trying to get help but can't, and of being dismissed every time you tried to get their attention, normal person would be screaming and cursing them out. After the call with J, I got an empty promise that they will start to look into the issue (after thay have found out about it for a month), and that follow up email will come immediately after. It is currently seven hours after the call, I still have not receive anything. Upstair neighbor still making noise. I feel disgusted whenever I think about the conversation with J, and feel desperate that I will need to pay at least $2400 just to break lease and get some peace and quite. So, please, if you are considering this place, DON'T. Your problems will not be addressed, they won't apologize for their mistakes. They will lie to your face to avoid trouble, and you will need to pay them GOOD MONEY just to get out of dodge. RUN!

This place both literally and figuratively stinks. As if the air quality in the town of Harrison…read morewasn't stifling enough, you walk into the apartment building seeking shelter from the repulsiveness only to get smacked in the nostrils by the stench of people cooking with their doors open. That's actually a violation in the lease agreement but management doesn't seem to give a crap about rules. Here are a pile of other gems off the top of my head: - Random fire alarms in the middle of the night. I've been stuck outside so many times in freezing temperatures in pajamas for negative alarms that I've actually established a routine for this: Get in my air-conditioned car and drive off to wait it out. I felt so clever doing it only to realize that wait, I shouldn't even have to do this at 3 in the morning. - Dumbasses who don't know how to turn off car alarms. I recall one especially terrible weekend where there was a busted-up vehicle that had its alarm going off every 15 minutes. 48+ straight hours in an apartment facing the open parking deck with an alarm blazing. I'd call it a nightmare but there was no sleep during that entire time. - By the way, pick your poison: Choose an apartment facing the parking deck with people revving their annoying Tokyo-drift vehicles in the middle of the night and people playing that corny, loud-ass game with throwing that 10-pound ball on the ground OR an apartment facing the pool where unauthorized guests scream all day and night throughout the summer months. I can't imagine the outward facing rooms being much better - The Con-Ed gates beep annoyingly throughout the day. - People leaving their patio doors open with their loud-ass dogs barking at everything they see - Poorly insulated walls/ceilings/windows: Neighbors generally don't give a shit about how loudly they play their music, even at night. As for ceiling insulation, I don't know what's worse: the sound of kids running all day or some drunk stumbling into the apartment while wearing heels. Remember, this is also really close to EWR - you're gonna hear airplanes ALL day EVERY day. - Crap parking deck security. In the years I've lived there, my parked car has been hit by someone who doesn't deserve a license and on a separate occasion had the roof vandalized. I've also had two bicycles TIED UP in the garage and were still stolen. The security cameras were useless and management just shrugged it off - Why the hell am I paying a premium for the parking deck then? - The trash chute system is a joke. For those who are environmentally conscious, pressing the recycling button doesn't do anything - everything goes in the trash. I'm deeply regretful that I lived there for years with an entire community that doesn't have the means to recycle. - Other crap that I won't get into since it's giving me a headache just thinking about them: Stolen mail (federal offense that management won't even help you out with), street shutdowns during events at Red Bull, flooding in the area, slow garage doors (Steel Works across the street takes 2 seconds to open, why does this one take 15?!!) Don't fall for the glamor of being next to a station that goes to NYC. I remember about a decade ago when maybe 1 or 2 people would get on the train at the Harrison Station. I left the area last year and often had to wait for less-packed trains to pass before I could get on one. It's gonna get worse: New buildings are sprouting in the area and over a dozen new high-rises have been approved for construction at Grove Street. It'll be near impossible to get on a train. Tip: Look forward to owning a house

Lightning this apartment, when you haven't rented it before, has always told you that it is a very…read morequiet apartment. When I moved in, I realized it was a complete lie. I live on the east side near the parking lot side, near the highway and train tracks, and the sound of traffic and honking horns is simply unavoidable. And the warehouse that faces it is also very noisy with the sound of unloading every weekday. These sounds might be acceptable with earplugs, but the most unacceptable thing I can't take is having an unbelievable neighbor. The family that lived above me walked around the house barefoot from morning to night and even in the early hours of the morning every day, and the sound of that floorboard vibrating would cause the doors of my cabinets to vibrate very loudly. This vibration is a sound that cannot be blocked out with earplugs, and it has caused me to have a mental breakdown for a long time. I tried to communicate with the management office, but only the first time I got a response, and obviously nothing changed. Sent a second or third time and no one replied. I also tried to go upstairs and knock on the door to communicate and they didn't even apologize and said they were just walking normally. They also always drag furniture around at night. I can hear the kids upstairs wrestling and I can even hear them arguing. In short, don't choose this place!

My husband and I have lived here for one year…read more I first want to add that a major reason for moving is the actual town of Harrison, as opposed to the building itself. Now here is 221 Bergen review: The Good: -Apartment are super spacious and with a lot of natural light -Gym was a decent size (although could use more equipment) -Maintenance gets done pretty fast -Management is really nice and responsive -If you are willing to pay more, you can have an indoor private garage The so-so: -Terrace furniture is not really cleaned/maintained (was super dusty). -Confusing entrance. The building has an East and West entrance as the main entrance. If you put the address on the GPS, it will lead you to the main entrance however tenants do not live here. So when you order take-out or order Fresh Direct, you have to specify East Entrance. Since the GPSS leaves them in the main entrance you have to tell them to walk to the East Entrance and for some reason, a lot of people don't know where to go. Also food delivery do not go upstairs so you always have to come down to pick up food. The Bad: -I left my yoga mat in the terrace and someone stole it (come on, what kind of yogi steals someone's else mat). - Our apartment was in front of the elevator so we heard the elevator sound all day and could hear everyone's business (so make sure your apartment is not front of the elevator). Final Verdict: If this building was somewhere like Jersey City, we would have probably stayed.

The reason I gave it 3 stars is because the management is not very responsive to emails or calls. When attempting to sign out lease Jenny from across the street had to direct me to the building manager Tiffany after Karina, the leasing manager, was unresponsive. When we went to tour the facility we waited 30 min past our appointment time to be seen. If you're ok with having to chase down management for answers to a problem or question you'll do fine here. The construction looks really cheap. In the hallways, you can see the touch up strokes of paint on each floor. The lobby has a funny smell. The hardwood floors are cheap. Don't get too much water on them or they will start to raise. The showers are nice a spacious but have the drain off to the side and makes it hard to clean or drain water when showering. The gym and pool are the only amenities and the gym is across the street at their sister building. When submitting a maintenance request they take FOREVER to come fix the issue unless you continue to press them about it. I moved from the West Coast for a short term living situation so I don't mind it. Also, it's a 0.2 miles walk from my doorstep to the train station, which I use to commute into the city for work everyday. The parking sucks, and if you don't want to deal with it you either pay $90 for outdoor parking which is full so there's a waiting list or $200 for indoor parking. Trying to park around the building during the day is only 2 hrs at a time until after 6pm Monday - Friday and during Red Bull games. The apartments are very open concept, spacious & have great natural light. A tip, if you still decide to look here make sure not to get a unit in any corners of the facility or else you will not have a window in the bedroom of your unit. (My unit is one of those) I will say, if you are looking for great management & amazing amenities check out The Urby. It's in the same parking lot as 330, however their living spaces are not as open concept as 330, but living there is the closest thing to a paradise.

I am not angry or disgruntled - the gaslighting, secrecy, and lack of accountability just needs to stop. EDIT 9/20: Electric went out with less than 1.5 h notice during the middle of the work day on 9/13. Water went out again today/has been brown. Top floors are on generators and smell. They are still touring apts. We are expected to pay rent and be positive. If you do not smile through every situation you are targeted by management + front desk. This place runs off toxic positivity. Shoutout to Aliou for being the only kind person through all of this, and not allowing valid concerns to affect his ability to execute and welcome all - he is the BEST. Shoutout to the sanitation staff too. They have employees reading reviews and targeting us with horrid middle school attitudes when we're only speaking on management. I would not be going so hard for a company riddled with incompetence, but that's just me. EDIT 9/12: Tenzin and Sarah are Urby employees, check their other reviews. Do with that what you will. They also do not live on affected floors. This was not a city-wide outage. Kinjo has now closed due to the outage (restaurant downstairs) and was a beacon of light for the community. Management has not officially communicated that to us and are shutting our power off again for repairs so we have to transfer our food downstairs. They also are not allowing early lease breaking. We're trapped. OG REVIEW: I've lived at Newark Urby for nearly a year (on a 15-month lease), and while things may appear great, you don't want to be here during a crisis. Urby pushes residents for reviews as soon as they move in, but here's what you need to know about longer-term experiences. First, we chose Newark Urby for its "luxury" living and amenities. One incident involved a fire caused by something flammable being thrown down the chute. As alarms blared, no one provided any real-time updates. It wasn't until hours later, after the fire was controlled, that communication came, despite residents having family and pets at risk. Second, during a storm, the building suffered major damage. The basement flooded, elevators broke, and power/water were cut off. Residents were left to gather details by eavesdropping as management failed to provide clear communication. The next day, the building sent a delayed notice about the elevators, long after they were back up. Meanwhile, food spoiled, people couldn't bathe, and communication from management was scattered. Urby's solution? Ordering pizza after 20 hours, offering to refrigerate food long after it had gone bad, and providing minimal relief while enforcing access policies in common spaces, leaving residents with limited options to charge devices or work. Five days later, water returned, but our unit is still experiencing issues, and the building now reeks, with trash chutes, grills, and the gym's AC non-operational. I spoke with the new property manager, Lucie Liskova, who promised a $150 credit per person for lost groceries (not reflected on the rent statement) and help finding a temporary placement at Harrison Urby. However, when I followed up, she said they were prioritizing families and pets. Despite mentioning I have a pet, she made a dismissive comment, "Don't turtles like the heat?" My turtle's water is normally 78°F, but it's been much hotter, causing stress. After many calls and much pushback, we were temporarily placed at another Urby while other affected residents went out-of-pocket on hotels + pet boarding. Lucie also mentioned that due to the situation, the late fee on rent would be waived this month. However, on 9/6, tenants were still charged the $100 late fee. Lastly, a friend who used to live here was targeted by another resident with a sexual criminal history. Management's response was to ask if he should be evicted and she did not feel comfortable making that determination as he lived with family, even after he followed her home while intoxicated. Rather than taking appropriate action, they begged her to stay, leading her to move out. This place might seem nice on the surface, but the new management's response during crises is disappointing. Consider this before moving in.

The price point is super affordable. I would like to note that the parking fee is hefty. They have a few spots near the building, uncovered and then the rest of the spots are in a parking garage like down the block. I would've chose this apartment complex to live in, if it wasn't for the parking situation. It's in the safest part of Newark (near all the colleges and government buildings) but this is still Newark and I want my property to be safe.

Starting at the top -- Daniel was always reachable, and always willing to help where he could. We stayed there three-years, and only had to move away because of my job took me back to California. At the time, being in law school, money was tight, and Daniel helped us out with parking, and when we moved out, we got back our full refund (this is after the apartment had two kids under four running around). The only thing we got charged for was a cleaning fee for the carpets, which was fair. Re maintenance staff, this seems to be consistent --- amazing people. My family, and kids, loved Oscar. He was personable, and willing to help with the smallest things. The one thing, if I had to grade down a bit, was the turnaround times were not always great, but part of that was also us having kids, and trying to work around their nap schedule. The amenities are good. Gym was sufficient (had all the equipment you needed), but it can get a bit crowded as the space isn't that big. Rooftop is amazing. The views of NYC are breathtaking. The community room was also very large, stocked with boardgames and it's own TV with a good seating area, and large table in the back where my friends and I occasionally used studying for finals. There are some cons, but again, it really goes back to Daniel, and how quickly he would deal with any complaints (very quickly). We did some instances where we had some weed smoke, and found some cigarettes in the trash area, but once Dan was notified, an apartment wide email went out. Another sort of downer was that the retail space below was never filled, so you had to go away from the building for the smallest things. Location is hit/or miss. It's walking distance to Whole Foods, and a five minute drive to Target. Nothing is more than a 10-15 minute drive away. Regarding the homeless people: around the building itself, you hardly see any, but of course, it being Newark, you will see them around the park area, but if that's the standard, you're not going to find any apartment complex without that issue. Additionally, you can walk to Penn Station, and be in NY in 10-15min. It's also walkable to Rutgers and Seton Hall Law School. There is also the Prudential Center which is about a 10-15min walk. You're also right next the NJ Performing Arts Center. Apartments are nice, modern, floor to ceiling windows. We were the first tenants in our apartment. I will say the rent did climb pretty quickly once we were there, but I think when taking in the full-three years we were there, we got a pretty good deal (relative to the other comps in the area). If you get a corner apartment, you can't beat the views. We are on the river, and the view of NY always impressed our guests haha. If we do move back to Newark, gladly be back there.

The apartments here are utilitarian; older appliances and a pepper-salt linoleum floor for the apartment except in the tiled bathroom, the units here are cheap and utilitarian. Elevators are small, but tall enough to cram a bed into, and slow. They do have people at the door, though at times, they don't really do much to confirm you're visiting whom you say you are, so I don't expect perfection there. Super apparently isn't the easiest to reach, either, with some very odd times for being in the building.
