This building had a lot of issues in past, but not like a few people are making it out to be…read more The current management is trying their hardest to make this place better for its residents there is no big crime problem here the place is clean. It's not rodent infested no bugs the gym has been upgraded yes there are some minor things that go on, but that would go on in any dwelling. You're never gonna make everybody happy no matter how hard you try. I'm not saying that there shouldn't be some improvements in the building, but it's nothing detrimental. You have common sense, thinking people that have open door policies. It's a nice place to live. I just think if the tenants would all have a meeting and we as tenants only discussed this amongst ourselves we the residents could make it better on our own. We could easily police the building ourselves and do our part to make it a better place to live as well ,It's a building that you can commute to New York City very easily. It's a quiet area to live. And again the current management is trying their hardest to make everybody happy, and I think the tenants could be a little bit understanding also and trust me I'm not pro management at all, I'm just common sense. It's a nice place to be so anybody considering this building as a potential place to live I would recommend it.

If you're wondering why your electric bill becomes unusually high in the winter at this community,…read morehere's something many residents may not be aware of: If your unit's utility room is located on the balcony, there is a space heater inside that room designed to prevent the water heater and pipes from freezing. When temperatures drop, this heater turns on automatically and can run for long periods of time--using roughly 2 kWh per hour. In cold weather, that means: Nearly 50 kWh per day Well over 1,000 kWh in a month This is often the real reason winter electric bills here can spike dramatically, even if you're careful about turning off appliances, limiting hot water use, and not running HVAC. The heater itself serves a "valid purpose?" (protect pipe good, but why i have pay for it?), but its energy impact is significant and not something most residents are informed about in advance. I raised this issue with apartment management after receiving a winter electric bill that was several times higher than normal. Unfortunately, my requests were largely ignored and no meaningful resolution was offered. As a result, I feel compelled to share this publicly so other residents and prospective tenants can be aware of what they may be facing. If you're considering living here--or already do--check whether your unit has this setup and be prepared for much higher winter electricity costs.

I've lived here since September now, and I can actually say that I love it. It's tough to find an…read moreapartment and management company that really makes you happy, but Arla did it for me. The apartments are a good size, reasonably priced, and close to a bunch of stores and dining. I rent a renovated one bedroom. The rooms are all a nice size, although the kitchen is a bit small (see picture), but it works for me. Upon moving in, everything was spotless and ready to go. I can't hear my neighbors at all, which is also nice and somewhat unexpected. The management company has always been attentive. I had one minor problem which I reported through the resident portal online, and they had made the repair within a day. Also, after a massive recent snowstorm, they immediately began cleanup work, using a plow, front end loader, and snowblowers to make sure the lot and sidewalks were clear and everyone's cars were accessible. As for complaints, I only have a few. One is the laundry room hours - they close at 9PM, and I get home from work quite late so I often don't have time to do a load of laundry during the week if I need to. I think they should just stay open 24/7 since they are locked and residents have to use a key to access it anyway. There also aren't many machines. The laundry room by my apartment only has four washers and four dryers, so they're often all full. My only other complaint is the one car per apartment parking limit, but I can understand that this is just due to limited space. You get one assigned spot near your apartment, and there are a few visitor spots scattered about. This is especially tough since Nutley doesn't allow overnight street parking, so if you have two or more people with cars in your household you may be out of luck. Like I said, besides those little complaints I've really loved living here and I can see myself continuing to live here. I definitely recommend checking it out if you're looking to move into the area and there's an apartment up for rent.

I have had... - Long term leaks in my bathroom, kitchen and bedroom that the landlord simple would not properly repair until it began to affect other tenants. Literally downpours in my apartment. - A shower with 70-80 percent of the tiles fallen off and a superintendent who insisted on putting plastic on the bathroom walls until I would pay him to repair the shower. * And that is the type of bad repair work that was done. * That super even charged me for basic repairs that were part of his job which added up to a lot of money over the years. - When the super stole money from my apartment the building management finally fired him and said that they would reimburse me for my loses due to the super's long term stealing and that I should write a letter for them noting what had been stolen. When I gave the building manager the letter she requested she began to argue with me. From that point on, the building manager, building owner and the building's lawyer ignored my follow up requesting a response from them on the theft issue. The list of issues can go on and on. All the management wants is your rent money and they do not take responsibility for the actions of their employees. No integrity will be found at Ridge View Apartments.
