Very confusing complex. My client lives there, just very strange all around to get in, get out etc

If you're wondering why your electric bill becomes unusually high in the winter at this community, here's something many residents may not be aware of: If your unit's utility room is located on the balcony, there is a space heater inside that room designed to prevent the water heater and pipes from freezing. When temperatures drop, this heater turns on automatically and can run for long periods of time--using roughly 2 kWh per hour. In cold weather, that means: Nearly 50 kWh per day Well over 1,000 kWh in a month This is often the real reason winter electric bills here can spike dramatically, even if you're careful about turning off appliances, limiting hot water use, and not running HVAC. The heater itself serves a "valid purpose?" (protect pipe good, but why i have pay for it?), but its energy impact is significant and not something most residents are informed about in advance. I raised this issue with apartment management after receiving a winter electric bill that was several times higher than normal. Unfortunately, my requests were largely ignored and no meaningful resolution was offered. As a result, I feel compelled to share this publicly so other residents and prospective tenants can be aware of what they may be facing. If you're considering living here--or already do--check whether your unit has this setup and be prepared for much higher winter electricity costs. read more

Visited a friend who lived here. He had nothing but nice things to say about it. It's clean, modern and safe. The have a ton of amenities as well as parking. Walking distance to train and they even provide shuttle service. Worth a look if your looking for a nice place to live. read more

We are staying at XChange and we are very happy. It is very close to the train and you get to NY in one stop, but at the same time you are in a quiet and safe place. Leticia at the reception helps you with everything. There is a wonderful park behind with many sports fields free of charge. And the group gym classes are great, especially Jade, the yoga teacher. read more

So, it is time to say goodbye to living here for 2 solid years! I am so lucky to call this building my home, especially during Covid and being away from family. The Maintenance and Management team, Fernando and Luis, were great throughout my stay here. For any maintenance issue, you can open a ticket on their apartment site and someone one would come look at it in less than 24 hours. I always felt super safe and around the neighborhood and knew that I have a team I can count on. If I wasn't moving out of state, I would've stayed here for another year! read more

It has been a few months since we moved to Xchange and all I can say is that it has been an absolute blessing and pleasureful stay to say the least. Firstly, I must give a special shout out to Farah in leasing. She was extremely professional and very courteous. She answered all our questions patiently and gave us all the required information promptly and I would say that she had a hand in us signing the lease. @Farah and the leasing team: Thank you for helping us! Secondly, I must admit that the amenities (Gym, Spa, Pool, Games room) being provided are quite good too and the train station is literally a stone's throw away for those commuting to the city. It is huge mistake to choose this place. People working are terrible!!!! On the first day of moving, I found the following issue with my apartment. 1) Holes and paintings on the carpet. The carpet is wet because they just shampooed the day before I move in. I literally have no space to put my languages. 2) All the cabinet are worn out and there is missing refrigerate draw and the door of it is not working very well. 3) I call their service line for repair request. they did not give me any estimated time for that and hang my phone call. Anyone who does not want to deal with unprofessional property management team and low quality facility in the apartment. Please don't come here. There are many other options in the neighborhood. It would have been helpful if I knew these facts that they don't put int the apartment listing, so I am putting them up for everyone: -Security deposit is 1.5 months of rent -There's a $250 move in and another $250 move out fee -There's a refundable $1500 move in deposit fee, if they think you scratched or damaged something during move in, they will take it out of that $1500 and refund you the rest. -They have great amenities but to use them you have to pay $75/month per individual. So, if there are two people living in an Xchange apartment, they both pay $150/month to use those amenities. -Booking of any common space comes with a big fee too. -There's $100 fee for each person who are listed in the lease I hope this review helps people to make a decision before they head to Secaucus :) read more

My boyfriend and I recently left Manhattan for new adventures in... New Jersey. After months (literally) of searching for a new apartment in the city, we could never find exactly what we wanted. After INTENSELY debating whether or not we wanted to venture out (but not too far) of Manhattan, we ended up in this luxury community with a mix of young hipsters, professionals, and young families. It is right across the street from the Secaucus Junction train station, so we're 10 minutes from Penn Station... not bad! Our first thoughts are: 1. THERE IS SO MUCH SPACE FOR ACTIVITIES (refer to "Step Brothers") 2. We have a balcony. YAY! 3. The apartment is brand new and we don't have to worry about other people's dirty feet on the carpets. 3. The concierge is so nice! They have all treated us kindly since we moved in... even when we came back from Wal-Mart with 1,000 bags. They didn't judge us, especially since we're so new to the opportunity of buying in bulk without having to carry everything for ten blocks. 4. The gym is brand new, and the media room is super cool! A bunch of iMacs, new tv, couches, pool table... And everyone is so nice! 5. There is a shuttle every 15 minutes that takes you from the apartment to the train station, even though it's a short 10 minute-walk. 6. The 5000 building has a little shop with the essentials (milk, bread, sweets, cans of veggies, soups, ATM, etc.) 7. The community has a day-care, a bar, a grocery store, a dry-cleaner + laundry service, and a restaurant. 8. Every apartment has its own washer + dryer... so rare in Manhattan! read more

I have lived here now nearly 1-year. The times I gave used the amenities have had nothing but great workouts nice swimming indoor pool.

Horrible maintenance of gym. Sweat stains everywhere on the machines. Do not even think of getting in the jaccuzi. Dirt all over the foam. To top it off, management is ignorant and think it's oil floating on the foam. Such wonderful management ! read more

As of August 2020, the Xchange started construction on a new building. Insanely loud pounding begins at 7am Monday through Friday and continues throughout the day, making it very difficult to work from home. I've written to management asking to begin construction later in the day and they responded to tell me to be patient and they appreciate my residency. If they truly appreciated my residency they wouldn't have began construction while so many people are working from home. It's disruptive and makes it very difficult to concentrate, not to mention impossible to sleep past 7am. If you are thinking of moving here in 2020 or 2021, and you work from home I don't recommend the Xchange. Stay away until construction is over or you will undoubtably regret it. read more

Hi I'm a cleaner,I bem in this place to do my job couple times, but yesterday at the build 9000 I have a frustrating experience at the main entrance lobby, the woman who was working in the front desk, who was suppose help me when I ask for for the apt 91...... didn't help at all, she been so rude saying ... may be over there, well wasn't, I came back to the lobby I say sorry i ask you for the apt 91 ..... guess her answer???? I don't know ... I don't know ...you got go looking for... I tell her please that's your job,she's not even look at me and told me to go do my job!!! Like get out of my way house cleaner!!! She sounds racist , rude , no respect, not responsive. I had to call The lady who required for my service to come to the building to help me!! Leasing office is horrific. We showed up after an hour drive to view a few units they said we could view and nothing was available. They then said we could pay to reserve a unit and come to see it later but failed to mention the 2500$ penalty if we reserve and do not sign. They were very manipulative in trying to get us to sign and gave a ton of conflicting information. I would not trust those people. read more

Halfway through our lease but so far we are LOVING Xchange. We almost feel like we're at an extended stay luxury hotel. The staff is always friendly, the amenities are INCREDIBLE (indoor pool, sauna, steam room, private theater, private grilling areas, FREE GOLF SIMULATOR, and more) there's a shuttle service to Secaucus Junction, just an overall wonderful place to live. read more

0 Star if that's an option. Middlesex management refused to reissue the security deposit once the check is lost. The conversation with the staff was nothing but a mess. DO NOT move into the building as you got no service and have plenty problems moving out including all the hidden fees and a HUGE CHANCE of getting multiple unfriendly calls. 1. to end your lease, you have to mail the notice to vacate to the main office. otherwise, the lease will be automatically renewed. 2. the move out date has to be the end of the lease, otherwise you are breaking the lease even if you keep paying the rent. 3. disgusting smell at night in the community, not sure where it comes from, really bad in summer if you want to take a walk at night 4. A little about the staff - They have the worst staff ever, not responsive .. don't think they realize that tenants are humans and I don't think they can do anything but follow a book! Crazy as it sounds .. if rather deal with robots ! Moving on to the apartment - I have rented twice here, first move - Water leaked from upstairs on day 3, could hear the dogs bark and nearly every time anyone opens the tap, u will know it! Second apartment - washer dryer sucks, master bedroom doesn't get hot or cold air coz surprise surprise the a/c vent is in the bathroom ! Dishwasher - u might as well not think of it more then a storage space! Carpet - These guys probably use the cheapest carpet in the market! Wool all over your furniture & clothes ..it's a dare to sit on the carpet :-) Electricity bill - used to get $180 ish in a one bed , trust me they had the wrong meter mapped to my house or the appliances suck! How much can u use in a one bed! Complaint but no one listens ! Moved to a 3bed my charges are $200 .. Water is distributed by units not ur individual bill, so even if u r not home for a month - u will pay! And did I mention - $200 to move inn, $200 to move out and $400 for cleaning etc .. like seriously and this is forced .. even if u move inn with a bag! And $75 per person for the gym service! I guess you get the drift ... they just want your money not u! The only thing that is good here is the ppl at the security desk! read more

In all honesty I have lived all over New York/New Jersey for the last five years and out of everywhere xchange is the best quality of life for the price you pay. Reviewing ONLY the application experience! Was a bit hesitant at first due to the negative reviews, but decided to give it a shot since I'm getting tired of living in NYC. The boyfriend and I jumped on a train to Secaucus Junction, and after a 15 minute walk we arrived in the leasing office. It was oddly quiet, but no complaints there. Once we arrived, we were directed to the leasing office and then meet Quasheeda. Let me tell you, she is AMAZING. Super patient and walked us through all the floor plans that we were interested in.. I think our experience was highly positive due to her being our leasing agent, and we submitted an application the same day. I'm impressed by the building and amenities, and we rented a unit in the Next building. Will follow up once we move-in, but really hoping our experience living there lives up to our expectation. Tips: - Bring checks/money orders (you'll need 2 checks made out) justtt in case you love an apartment at first sight like we did. read more

I lived here for almost 1 year and I will not renew my lease. My boyfriend and I can not wait to leave this middle of nowhere place with no bar or restaurants around except for one horrible diner and Italian place. Do not live here as it's pretty much has become known as "Indian village". The shuttle service is terrible as people are always skipping lines and cutting and shoving. The shuttles do run frequently in the morning however. It isn't ideal to have to be skipped again. The problem is pretty irritating for many tenants and all management can do is send an email or not address it at all?? read more

The building itself is nice but the leasing office is a joke. For almost two months i have been trying to get refunded the $600 they owe me. Our apartment was not ready on the day we moved in so our movers were forced to wait hours and we were told that of course this extra cost would be reimbursed. I have sent at least ten emails to xchange and middlesex management, made calls, left voicemails. Nothing. They just stole money from me apparently. Now i have to file a lawsuit to get my money back :( Too bad because the building itself and the other staff outside of the leasing office are wonderful! read more

More update since we moved in: 1. Dish washer takes 4 hours to wash a load. We tried a normal wash which takes 2 hours, which didn't wash anything, even the little bread crumb didn't get washed away. So we have to use the Heavy load each time which takes 4 hours! We would start the load at 7am which ends at around 11pm, I couldn't go to sleep because of this. I've never seen such an energy INEFFICIENT machine in my entire life. 2. Laundry washer is another piece of ANTIQUE and energy INEFFICIENT machine, it does not wash anything off, not even apple juice stain. Nothing gets washed from this piece of junk. 3. the most annoying thing is the noises from upstair. We hear every single step and voice from upstairs, upstair has a kid who runs around and jumps up and down, who cries and screams. We know exactly when they wake up and when they go to sleep, when they use the toilet or when they come home, because we hear every little noise from upstairs. It's a hassle to have to move again, but we will try to move out in any way we can. read more

When we went to see apartment today, what we noticed is that there seems to be some communication gap between Leasing Office management and their entertainment company (American Leisure). American Leisure company allowed us hang out in lounge area for little bit and management people came to us and told us that you can't hang out there. Lost our interest to be future resident there!!! read more

The place looks great and I'd been wanting to check out the one bed room apartments in person after checking out floor plans and pictures on their website. Location is great so I was excited to see how it was, but all that excitement turned to disappointment from the moment I stepped into the leasing office. I had registered online with them and scheduled what I thought was a personal appointment to look at apartments. When I got there the greeter was very rude and asked what I wanted. I told her I had an appointment and she asked me to register at their kiosk. I politely told her that i had already registered online at which she scoffed, threw her arms up and said "well you have to do it again". Not a good start. After that I was told to join an ongoing tour of the amenities. I was not disappointed with what I saw. However after coming back from that an agent took about 4 or 5 couples to a few of the apartments. She was talking a thousand words per second and rushing us through the tour of the places while complaining that the agents are understaffed. We looked at a one bed room and two two bed rooms, but came out thoroughly confused about pricing, styles of apartments and square footages. When I approached the agent after the tour with more questions and a possible tour of some other one bed rooms she sent me across to another leasing office to see for myself. All in all I was disappointed with their customer service and turned off to the idea of pursuing an apartment there despite liking a lot of what I saw because this might be reflective of the rest of their staff that I'd have to put up with if I lived there. read more

I live here and have enjoyed living here. Its close to the train station for a 10-15 mins walk depending on the building. Its very peaceful and quiet. It has a garden on the back side of the apartment in addition to the smaller gardens in between buildings. The experience with the maintenance, leasing and main office staff has been generally good. I have had some instances where some of the staff is unfriendly (they still help) but that is very few. Most of the staff is actually on the other hand, very helpful The quality of the apartments, appliances etc. is really good. The response to maintenance  issues is really quick ! One thing that is not so convenient, is the shuttle bus stop locations. You end up walking about 3-4 mins from the stop at the station to the train station. read more

Moving in and moving out, the two most stressful days for anyone were made extremely easy by the property manager, Luis Rubeiro. Just can't say enough about a well mannered, honest and decent person put in charge who is mature beyond his years. As opposed to other buildings where the property managers and office staff are incompetent at best, this was a breath of fresh air. Sorry we had to move for business! read more

I just moved in and the building is beautiful. It would be great if they had a shop rite, Panera or a Starbucks near by. They are no concrete slabs between the floors so you hear when people walk heavy. We had chosen to live on the 4th fl because we did not want any noise. Only to be sandwiches between 2 adjacent apartments that have little children that run around till 11 o'clock at night! I wished they showed us the apartment at night so we could hear how noisy this building can get. read more

Just moved in here and really like the apartment complex. The Property Manager (Luis Rebeiro) and his team always goes above and beyond to ensure that the tenants are happy and are served well. The cleaning staff does a fantastic job in keeping the complex neat and clean. The proximity to the Secaucus station is a big plus. Overall, an ideal place for a young family. read more

The property looks clean and nice. However, I've been calling from California and I can't ever get anyone on the phone to inquire about the property. My call always goes to voice mail and NO ONE ever returns the call. They don't even respond to emails. I started thinking that maybe there is no office since they're so unresponsive. Well actually, when I stopped by while in town I found there is an office and there are indeed people working in there but what the hell could they be hiding... Oddly they keep the office door locked and have to buzz you in. They won't let you take an application, but rather require you to complete the application there in the office. I don't understand such a system. Like I said the place is clean but comes with way too many fees. Fees to move in, fees to move out, amenity fees, and more fees. Ridiculous! You may as well just buy a spot and remodel it how you want it. I'm from northern California. I swear its so much easier to find a spacious clean affordable place there. Just look at what you get for the money in ANTIOCH, CA! No broker fees, no move in or move out fees, low deposits, newer looking single family homes, close to shopping centers, pets allowed, huge closets, free garages, in unit washer/dryer, real kitchens, better looking bathrooms, front and backyards, close to the SAN FRANCISCO bay area, and the list could go on... read more

This is a private members only Lifestyle Center, exclusively for the residents of Xchange. If it weren't for a FEW pet peeves, I would have given The Station five stars. Instead of dwelling on the cons, I'd rather use this review to provide useful info for residents who are thinking about joining or future residents who are debating whether or not to move to Xchange. The Station is a Lifestyle Center offering four floors of activities each with its own purpose. The building is managed by American Leisure and during operating hours you have direct access to a concierge who can help plan all aspects of your experience there. First Floor: Upon entering the Station you are greeted by a very high tech, trendy and upscale living room. You have a "Mac Bar" complete with 8 touchscreen iMacs with full internet access. You have a conference room in the rear which can be used for business meetings. You also have laptop booths which are semi-enclosed rooms you can sit in with your own laptop and work in peace and quiet. Across from the tech labs you have a Bar which can be rented for private functions. In between the bar/lounge and the tech lab you have a seating area with wooden tables to sit and eat or read (whatever you desire). In the rear of the living room, in the right corner is a private screening room with a 80" Samsung TV, wall mounted. It is connected to Apple TV (for movie rentals) and a bluray player(coming soon), so you can bring your own movies if you prefer to. The blinds are electronically controlled which is a nice touch. The screening room is a good size for about 6 people to sit comfortably and the seating is sofa style versus traditional movie theater seating. Another plus. Completing the Living Room in the rear center is a sunken lounge which features a fireplace, drop down movie theater screen (I'm guessing about 200") and plush leather sofas with ottomans. They give you a touchscreen wall unit to control what is watched on the screen. If you make a left away from the Living Room, you will enter the Game Room section of the first floor. Here you will find a gorgeous Pool Table, Poker Table, a flat screen TV and lounge seating. However, the COOLEST feature of the game room is the Virtual Golf room. It's really something you have to see in person to realize just how much detail went into this place but lets just say it is the equivalent of playing a real game of golf in the comfort of a lounge and in front of a GIANT screen. You have real golf clubs, are hitting a real golf ball and sensors all around the room track ball velocity and speed. Its really amazing. Second Floor: This is the Cardio and Weight Training rooms. The room on the left is the Weight Training room. You have all the latest Bow Flex-esque weight training devices, free weights, dip machine, pull up bar and sit-up bench. You will also notice in mostly all the fitness rooms, a 90" TV featuring Fitness on Demand. it's a collection of fitness videos tailored to take advantage of the various themes in each room. For instance, the Weight Room has Weight lifting videos. The cycling room, has cycling video and so forth. It's like having a digital personal trainer that you can use at your own leisure. Across the hall is the Cardio Room. In here you will find the latest treadmills, stair climbers, ellipticals, cycles and a few additional weight training machines (leg press, seated dips, etc). There are plenty of machines so you don't need to worry about waiting for one. Third Floor: Another floor for fitness. There are three rooms on the left side of the hallway: Cycling room, yoga room and aerobics room. Each room is moderately sized and well laid out, with heavy emphasis on the use of the Fitness of Demand TVs I had mentioned earlier. Across the hall from the fitness area is the Special Events Room. This is a private event space featuring a full working kitchen, coat closets, twin flat screen TVs and a deck, which can be rented by the hour for private parties. Fourth Floor: Opening soon is the Aqua Grotto. It features a gorgeous, although small, lap pool with attached jetted whirlpool/soaking tub. There is also a steam room and a sauna. Separate M/F locker rooms with a shower in each. Additionally on this floor is the Spa Center- featuring a spa lounge, massage room, table shower massage room and various other spa-specific rooms. Services will be offered for a fee. A few MINOR cons hinder an otherwise perfect experience. However, very few buildings offer this level of Amenities for the price. I love coming home! read more

I have a thing for lobbies. I don't know why, but I do and this one is beautiful and very well maintained. I stayed at a friend's for 2 weeks because my apartment was being renovated and I am actually surprised at the reviews. The building is very well maintained and my favorite place is that little study cozy spots in the lobby. The people at the front desk are kind and friendly and were extremely considerate when I did not carry my temporary fob. Temporary residents have a good parking space and get a 48 hour permit. The building is close to the train station and they have a wonderful and efficient shuttle service that takes you to the station and back. The only reason why I wouldn't move here is because I love where I already live. read more

The 4 floors of amenities are amazing.. However, there is no cable on the tvs on the cardio equipment. I find it amazing that with such high tech, top of the line equipment, you only get basic cable. (And msnbc and spike tv). There is an iPod hookup, but it doesn't fit iPhone 5 or 6. Also, I was specifically told that there was cable when I took the tour, which is the reason for the 3 star review. I might have thought twice about being locked in to $75 a month for the year, had I known I would have nothing decent to watch while doing my cardio. read more
