I lived at One Carnegie Hill for 2 years, and am writing this review based on my experience there, as compared to other newer Related Rentals properties or other doorman/luxury buildings that friends live in.
This building is a nice building, and most of the concierge/doorman staff are friendly and genuine. However, there were several incidents when there was limited follow up on things that were promised (I had to remind constantly), including for repairs.
The outside entrance isn't cleaned regularly, so you often have to walkthrough dog urine smells or smoke, and other things in the front. Most other buildings of this caliber regularly wash the entrance area.
The amenities are great, in that there is a gym with classes, and a pool. The downside is that it's not that spacious and the pool temperature is often not great, but it's a minor complaint - for the most part the amenities are great for a building gym.
One of the big issues are the elevators. There are only 2 elevators for the rental part of the building (half the building, from 23 and up are owned, whereas up to 22 it is rental), and the elevators are either broken, slow, being used for other things. There have been times that we have had to wait up to 15 minutes for an elevator. For some reason, this is a consistent problem with the building.
Finally, the building is a bit outdated in the halls and even in the apartments. I think at the time this building was done, it must have been very luxurious, but now it just feels like an old and somewhat run-down building - you don't get the impression that you're staying in a luxury apartment at all.
It's not a bad building, but I think for the price that you pay, there are others that are better. read more
