From the moment we walked in, with an appt, we were told where the dresses were, where to hang what we wanted to try on, and the girl Rachel who helped us was so sweet and helped my daughter try everything on. Today was our first fitting, we met with Amy she definitely knows her stuff and I'm so impressed with her knowledge of everything in her store. Honestly, we drove 45 minutes to go to this boutique after having terrible experiences elsewhere, and our experience was wonderful. We went here to look for Sweet 16 dresses for my daughter. He was highly recommended by numerous Mom's groups that this was the place to be and boy with a right! We walked in there were wall-to-wall dresses, a variety from plain to simple to glittery to fancy. My daughter had a dress in mine, but had no idea if that dress actually existed. The owner and Girls were extremely tentative, nice and knowledgeable, which made this incredible exciting and stressful experience, easy-going and relaxed. The owner was so kind and friendly to us and took her time to make sure that we had the right dress. Upon entering the store, the girls and owner were very nice. They helped my girls find a dress, try it on, etc... However, after we brought the dresses home, my one daughter wanted to try the dress on pre-prom just to make sure that everything looks ok. I had such a hard time with the zipper that I could not get it up at all! I called back the store to explain my concerns and got a very attitudey owner telling me that there was nothing wrong with the dress and it needed to be zipped up a certain way. Never in the two fittings that we had did they explain that it needed to be zipped up a certain way. In fact I never heard of such a thing, as this was a zipper and shouldn't the size of the dress if measured correctly be easy to pull up?? I tried doing it "her way" and was still struggling with the zipper. I called them back and again all she kept saying "well theres nothing wrong with the dress, but if you are still having problems, you can bring it back on Thursday and we can help you because we are closed till then". First off I called on a Sunday and the actual prom was on a Thursday. To me this is very poor customer service. What place is closed for 3 days during prom season and if you really cared about me as a customer wouldn't you make an exception and see me so we can see if there is something wrong with the dress or at least advise me of another place that could help me with my issue? I, like others that I've seen on here, had a horrible experience with the owner of this boutique. We came back to order and try on a dress we had previously tried on. She was abrupt and got loud once she saw my daughter's jacket and said, "you cant have that dress, I already sold it to someone in your school." I asked nicely if the girl had ordered the same color because if it was the same color, my daughter would not wanted the dress and we would have looked at others. She told me she does't know, and it doesn't matter, she cannot get the dress, and that shes the only one who carries it! She became so angry and loud. I told her we had tried on Sherri Hill gowns in New Jersey, and maybe they would order it for me. I think she was stunned that one i was calm and solved my own problem and saved over 50$ and the customer service was so much nicer and accommodating. Bottom line, I would never step foot in that outdated store again just to be met with this type of service. It is a shame because the younger girls working were very helpful in our previous visit to the store. Word's cannot describe how happy we are with our experience at Outrageous Boutique. The staff was so friendly and knowledgeable. The dress that the Owner suggested to my daughter was in stock in a different color than what she wanted. My daughter fell in love with the style and we ordered the dress in the color she wanted, right then and there. We are truly so happy that we came to this boutique. The staff was very helpful. She needed minimal alterations just to help with the length compared to her shoe height. Scheduling appointments was seamless. I had a horrible experience at this store. The owner is rude and clueless about her clientele. She has a young girl who greets you when you enter, rambles on and on about their system, which is absolutely ridiculous and not effective. Nobody helps you. And if your aren't a size 0, she can't be bothered. My daughter politely asked about a dress in the window that was NOT a fitted tight dress. The owner says, in her rude unprofessional voice, that is NOT a prom dress???? Nobody wears that to PROM. She is rude and she shouldn't be in business. My daughter, who is not a size 0, left in tears. She did NOT apologize when I called later on that day to explain how she made my daughter feel. She can keep her less than average store. The owner Amy is quite literally the most awful businesswoman I've ever encountered. Aside from her being rude and not personable, she is a prideful, condescending liar. My daughter and I visited the boutique on January 19 to try on a few prom dresses. She fell in love with a Sherri Hill dress. The sample size fit her perfectly. Amy and her employees accommodated us nicely at the time. We went back to the store and tried on the dress two more times to be certain it was the dress she wanted. Amy then took her measurements and ordered it on January 28. We were told that the dress was ready and that we should come back to the store on March 29 with shoes to get alterations done on the dress. When my daughter put on the dress, the top of the dress was EXTREMELY tight. Myself and Amy asked her how the dress felt and she said it was uncomfortable. Amy proceeds to say that the dress fit perfectly and that the reason why she felt that way is because "Teenagers are always wearing stretch clothes and not used to wearing these types of dresses". She then sticks her hand down the back of the dress saying that it fits perfectly. When we inquired what size it was, she told us it was a size 2. My daughter's waist is a size 27 and according to the Sherri Hill size chart, the dress should have been ordered in a size 4 maybe even 6. After going back and forth for a few minutes, with Amy insisting that "She's not going to be comfortable in a corset dress and it fits fine", and "I know dresses, you guys don't know dresses the way I do", we reluctantly gave her the dress for alterations. Mind you, this dress was $700, (allegedly) no refunds. We visited the store again on April 4th because we decided that Amy did not deserve any more of our business after the treatment we dealt with. My daughter tried on the dress again and told her it was too tight. However, Amy is INSISTENT that it fits perfectly. Insistent to the point that she stuck her hand underneath the dress saying "I can fit my entire hand in here, the dress fits fine". My daughter was mortified. She then proceeds to be condescending saying that she can solve this problem in two seconds by selling the dress to someone else that wants it. It's too late to order another dress because my prom is in a few weeks and nothing is going to come in time. If she returns the dress, she would have nothing to wear for prom. She then tells me that there's no need for my daughter to be hostile when in reality she is abrasive and condescending. She ordered the wrong size and refused to admit that she did. The young girls are sweet and courteous and treat your daughter nice, but Amy treats them and her customers like crap! She always makes you feel rushed cause she can't handle the busy prom season. Shes condescending and rude! The prices of dresses are literally "outrageous" and the alterations are a rip off because they rush you through the last one and it looks great, but when you get home there's hundreds of threads hanging. The hook and eye on the back broke when she got home and tried it on. Take my advice and BRING IT TO YOUR LOCAL DRY CLEANER. They'll charge you half the price and do the right job. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Had the most unpleasant experience at this place from the moment we stepped in the door. The owner was a nightmare. She butted in on personal conversations with my daughter and claimed she wasn't allowed to try on a dress because it wouldn't fit her. Just had the NASTIEST exchange with Amy at Outrageous Boutique in Plainview. Bought my 13 year old a dress, $400 plus $75 alterations. Called to tell her my daughter has a fever and CANNOT pick up today. She gets on the phone and tells me my daughter isn't allowed in the store and I can pick up next week. She repeatedly told me my daughter isn't allowed in the store because she's sick. I need it for Friday. Now I never planned on having my child leave the house period, and when I gave it back to Amy she hung up. Sadly I have no choice but to pick up the dress but never again. I went for my wedding dress she ordered it she did my alterations perfectly she added a beautiful crystal bodice & lace sleeves to it as well as I'm a mature women & wanted an elegant look no other bridal store would be able to do. COVID-19 SCAM - BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!! I purchased a custom order Sherri Hill prom dress from Outrageous Boutique. I paid full retail price and received the used "store sample" instead. On 1/29/20 I ordered the dress. The storeowner Amy was very adamant telling me not to expect delivery sooner then the end of May for a June event. On 3/18/20 two days before the government enforced "stay home" restrictions due to Covid19 she made an appointment for me to pick up the dress. When I picked up the dress I suspected it wasn't in "pristine" condition. The lighting in the store was very poor making it difficult to see the true condition of the dress. There was a missing crystal on the dress which Amy affixed in the store. She made me sign a waiver before taking the dress home. I signed it in good faith that I was purchasing a brand new dress, realizing later this waiver would release her of all financial obligations. When I got home the crystal had fallen off again. I inspected the dress thoroughly and and noticed I was stretched out in the waist and covered in dander and lint. I also found photos on my cell phone taken of the "sample dress" in her store on 1/29/20 the "sample dress" had the same missing crystal in the same exact location. I contacted Amy immediately to tell her of my findings. She refused to acknowledge it. She told me "take it up with American Express, you wont win, you signed off on the dress" and hung up on me. I believe Amy, capitalized on the fact that she was being forced to close the store realizing she would not be able to fulfill her pending orders and lose a sale. The sample dress was the right size and color so she intentionally tricked me to believe it was the dress I ordered. I remembered not seeing the sample dress in the store when I questioned her, she conveniently told me, she sold it. She could have offered me the sample dress at a discounted price. I would have been able to have it professionally cleaned. Instead she chose to deceive me and sell me a used garment during a time when infectious disease was so prominent. I persisted my dispute of the charges with American Express for 5 months with no correspondence from Amy. She finally answered my last email requesting proof of shipment for my order. She told me my information was false and had documentation to prove it. However, refused to, due to store confidentiality. I'm certain the reason she won't provide proof is because it doesn't exist. Even after I confronted her with previous online reviews of customers stating similar incidences, she would not cooperate. Instead of recovering the situation; she chose yet, another unsatisfied customer to walk away knowing she was scammed. Amy conducts business in an unethical, dishonest and unsanitary manner. The only thing "outrageous" about this shop is the poor selection and even worse customer service! I found this location as a listed vendor with a certain designer. I contacted the shop to make sure they had plus size options to try on, and to ask after a specific style. I knew in advance that the specific dress I was interested in was not available but I was very open to my bridal party trying on and finding something in the shop. The woman who "helped" us, I believe may have been the owner. My entire party had traveled long and far to attend and we were all very excited...until we noticed the fairly small and tacky selection overall and the very small plus sized selection. She asked our budget but then spoke over us so she never heard what we were prepared to spend. Then EVERY single dress my girls selected to try on she rudely, and loudly proclaimed that it either 1) Didn't come in our sizes or 2) We couldn't afford them. I also heard her and another consultant speak rudely to other customers. Never in my whole life have I been treated so poorly! When I went there to shop for my daughters dress, she was pleasant and helpful. Once I paid for the dress, all bets were off. When I called to make an appointment to try on her dress, I was told that I could only pick it up on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday and they are only open late on Thursday. When I was actually accommodated (much back and forth) to come in on a Saturday, the owner was so incredibly rude. I would never go back here or recommend them to anyone. The experience from a Customer Service standpoint was terrible. No one needs to be treated like this. It's a boutique store. I had the best experience shopping for my prom dress after visiting five different stores. I visited on three separate occasions in the process of purchasing, fitting, and additional alterations. I did not expect there to be such a wide range of options, and the staff was incredibly hospitable. The girls who worked alongside Amy were generous, attentive, and patient. She had purchased a Sweet 16 dress in August from another store and when she went to pick it up today, it was the wrong dress and there was nothing they could do to get another dress in time. Saw their instagram page and found a dress there that I really loved, went about two weeks after they posted the photo of the dress to go try it on. As soon as I walked in, I was asked if I needed any help finding anything so I showed them a picture of the dress,I was immediately told that they only had one of those dresses and they already had sold it. I was absolutely heartbroken. How could a dress store only have one of each dress. This dress store was supposed to be number one on Long Island but how could they be if they have a limited selection and only had one of each dress. The workers in there were quite nice, except the owner was so rude didn't check to see if they had anything similar and didn't bother to see if any other stores had it. Will never go here again. READ, READ, READ so you do not go through what we did. I should have read the other negative reviews before I stepped foot in this store. On 10/24/2021, my daughter and I visited this boutique to purchase a dress for her upcoming sweet 17 in a few weeks. On that day, the young lady helping us showed us several "sample" dresses which she tried on. My daughter is a size 0. She fell in love with a Sherri Hill dress ($530+). The one she tried in the store was a sample, size 6 which was obviously too big. We were told it was a sample and they would need her measurements to make sure to order the correct size. They took her measurements and we left. We were told we would get a refund if the dress in her size (0 ) was not available to be shipped in time from the manufacturer. I clearly stated it had to be her dress size and not a larger size because we were not paying for extra alterations. Amy, the owner, said no problem. We will refund you if needed. A few days later I called to ensure the correct size had been ordered and asked which size it was. I was told a Size 0 had been ordered from Sherri Hill and not to worry. A few weeks later I received a phone call to go pick up the dress because it had arrived. They said to make an alterations appointment ( cash only) for the hem. My daughter was away at college visits but I needed to see the dress for the color and party decor. I called and Amy did not seem happy. She was adamant my daughter try on the dress. I told her she would be there when we returned for the tailor. I told her I had already paid for this "NEW, SIZE 0 dress" and I should be able to pick it up. I picked it up and before leaving verified with Amy, the owner, it was size 0. She said, "yes, it is!" I could see the tag through the bag and it seemed to be a size 0. Unfortunately, it was NOT! When I got home and opened it up, it was clearly evident they tampered with the size tag and tried to erase the top of the 6 to make it seem like a 0. As you can imagine, my daughter was distraught and very upset when I told her. I called the next day and Amy refused any wrongdoing. She blatantly lied. That night I took the dress to a well-known seamstress and tailoring business. They looked at the dress and determined it had been altered to make it a smaller size. The waist and side seams were cut and sewed. The top was still a size 6. This is why they made us wait a few weeks before calling us. They were altering the dress! I was beyond upset and angry. How dare they do this type of business. We tried to support a small boutique but instead, they scammed us and took our money, giving us a sample dress, size 6, altered to make it look like a new, size 0 dress. They even sewed in a size 0 tag from Sherri Hill. I will also contact Sherri Hill about this! Do not buy from this store! I asked for a refund after knowing what they did and they refused to take ownership. Take your business elsewhere! Support a business that will not scam, lie and cheat. I read some of the negative reviews and was scratching my head wondering if I had gone to the same shop and dealt with the same Amy. This small boutique has lots of beautiful, special occasion dresses for tweens and teens. From the moment we walked in, my daughter was treated like a princess, with the staff doting on her. The girls who work there are very nice. The first time we went in, we walked out without buying a dress because we wanted to look at another shop. There was no pressure, but they did offer to take all the details down, including measurements, in case we decided to purchase the dress my daughter liked. We were able to purchase by phone. All went very smoothly. Dress was in within a month and altered within two weeks. Everyone was very pleasant. The dresses are pricey and the alterations can get expensive, but my daughter got the dress she wanted and I feel it was professionally altered. read more

If I could give this place no stars I would. First: under-qualified, snooty store associates who managed somehow to make us feel crowded, judged, and not listened to all at the same time. My sister was looking for a prom dress and was sorely disappointed (as we all were) by the store's ridiculous sample dress system in which the only dresses available to try on are for standard or idealized body types. When we asked one of the associates for more information on how it works for someone who doesn't fit those body types, she mumbled unconvincingly about how that person would have to order the dress in their "right" size in order to try it on. How does this make any sense? Setting aside the financial risk, most people don't want to be inconvenienced by buying a dress they have never tried on before in a size properly suited to their body only to find that it doesn't fit and that the search must continue. What seemed to me to be a general lack of organization and vision at a basic level soon revealed itself to be a hideous and inexcusable ineptitude for managing clients with different body types. My sister had picked out 4 dresses and was ushered into a changing room, helped along by a girl who spent her spare time checking herself out in the mirror. When my sister told her that the first dress she was trying on didn't fit well around her bust, the girl said with a laugh and a roll of her eyes that she would help her zip it up. My sister insisted that it didn't fit her and the girl insisted right back that she could hold the dress for her. In the end, the girl ended up peeking into the dressing room where she presumably saw what my sister was talking about with regards to the dress not fitting, and said "Ohhhhh" with a look of surprise on her face. My sister stopped trying on dresses right there, even as the girl suggested vaguely that she would go pick out better dresses for her, and we left the store not exactly hiding our frustration. Somewhere in the time that we made our escape the girl asked my sister if she followed the store's instagram account. I have literally no words to explain that. While it was a busy day there the girls were helpful in finding the perfect dress and the owner was not pushy at all which is very refreshing as I HATE pushy salespeople!! Honestly thought it would take a visiting a few stores before we found the perfect dress but we spent an hour at outrageous boutique and found it. Don't waste your time anywhere else.
