DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE NO STARS... Was close to home and negative reviews seemed to be a while ago, so gave it a shot. Mother of Bride, dress needed to be hemmed in top of shoulder (I am petite). When pinned at fitting it was how I wanted it to be, when i returned it was like nothing was done. Explained it is still too big. Was defensive, argumentative and unrelatedly had really bad breath!!! When I was trying to look at her to speak my concerns, she abruptly grabbed by shoulder and turned me around. She did this a few times. I asked her to please stop pushing me, she was hurting my back. When I came out of changing room, I asked her to update the receipt with the new pickup date and what needed to be done, she was arguing "I don't know why you are making such a big deal, i fix the dress, you can pick it up tomorrow. I said you know what, I am just going to go, she wanted her 4 pins back and said you are not paying so she wanted to keep the receipt. I never said i would not pay, I was going to pay and speak to the owner afterwards. Awful awful, awful!! read more

I'm new to the area and needed a dress hemmed about 3 inches. I found my service to close to what I've paid for much more in-depth alternations. When I asked if they had a pamphlet or price breakdown, I was met with an attitude from (who I believe to be) was Christine. I came in from out of town for a wedding. My dress needed alterations and the original person couldn't do it because their sewing machine broke. I called Christine she took my dress in right away with less than a day turn around and 3-4" cut off. I was so blessed and thankful that Christine was able and willing to do that for me. She didn't over charge either. She charged normal pricing even for getting it done that fast. Reasonable pricing, excellent work, and very fast turn around. DONT go here they charge so much for terrible work! They charge $25 to put a patch on a dog bed cover and this is what I received they didn't even cut of the little strings of it and this is the visible part and the patch they put was so thin that it will probably break the minute I use this !! I have two children with Catholic school uniforms that are very hard to alter. They do an amazing job each year with my children's uniforms. I even had my daughters communion dress altered there as well. In the past, no one was able to alter the school uniforms the way they do at Christine's alterations. I go back there every year. they even did a last minute perfect alteration to one of my daughters dance costumes before she had a competition. They have never done me wrong! read more

Worst experience ever! They are so RUDE! My dress was sweeping the floor and they told me I was wrong saying it is too long and that it is the type of dress.... She got in a SCREAMING-MATCH with me the customer because she couldn't admit the dress was long. (She is crazy) Then wanted to recharge me again. This place is so overpriced. They didn't even steam the dress. For all the money they charge to just hem something it is the least they could do. DO NOT GO HERE!!!!! TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!! Wish I could rate 0 stars! read more

Christine's Alterations in Bethpage is the worst!! They are rude and overpriced. They did a horrible job hemming my dress and blamed it on the material. The hem was done by hand gathering too much material and pulling the stitching way too tight. It looked awful. When I expressed my concerns - the crazy old lady didn't even bother to address my concerns at all - it was like I wasn't even there. The dress was wrinkled and she claimed she stemmed it as promised upon dropping it off there. She's a liar!! I left there very unhappy and had it altered someplace else. Do not go to Christine's alterations!! I was completely appalled by her terrible customer service and the alterations performed. I recently went to this establishment to have a bridesmaid dress altered for a wedding. When I went to pick up my dress I walked in and the girl who was working at the time didn't even acknowledge me as she was on the phone with a personal call. After a couple of mins of staring at her she continued to talk on the phone and I said excuse me I am here to pick up my dress. She finally got my dress from the back never once stopping her phone conversation or acknowledging me. When I went to put the dress on I immediately noticed their was a grease stain on the front of the dress and the hem was a lot shorter then it should have been leaving my shoes completely exposed. The dress was not even pressed and on day of pick up it should be pressed and ready to go. I finally had to ask the woman to hang up so we could address these issues and she could not have been less helpful. She told me their was nothing she could do about the hem but to come back later and they would have the dress dry cleaned to get the stain out and pressed. I returned later that evening and my dress was still hanging in the exact spot I left it stain and all. The owner was there this time and insisted that the stain was a defect in the color from the distributor. I reexamined it with her again showing her it was indeed a stain and she replied with that maybe I wore it before I brought it in and I got the stain on it. Keep in mind this is a bridesmaid dress I did not wear this dress before alterations. Then when it came to the hem she said I don't know maybe you we're wearing different shoes the day you came for the first alterations and replied with those shoes don't even go with this dress! I did not ask her for her fashion opinion and these comments we're way out of line. Their was no accountability for the situation at all and when I demanded a discount she refused to take any money off saying she still provided a service and should be paid. I ended up having to bring my dress to another dry cleaner who was indeed able to get the stain out and rush to buy a new pair of lower shoes before the wedding to make the hem line appropriate. All and all it cost me an additional $90.00 on top of the $110.00 she charged me for alterations. I Repeat do not go to this place it was a total nightmare and will end up costing you in the long run!!! The only reason she got one star is because you can't leave zero. read more

If I could give this place 0 stars I would. They are incredibly rude here. I brought an old prom dress in to be shortened. When I picked up the dress and tried it on, it was completely uneven. The layers of the dress were at different lengths. The dress was so incredibly short. It was AWFUL and unwearable. A $500 dress now looked like a dish rag. The women would not take fault for how awful the dress came out. They even went as far as telling me I must've gained weight. She was tugging at the dress on me and got into a screaming match with me in front of other customers. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

My first mistake was not reading Nicole's review! Our experiences were very similar, Christine and her little runt worker were the absolute rudest and unprofessional representation of a lost art. I recently brought my daughters prom dress in for a simple hem. When we picked it up, the first time, the hem was longer on one side of the dress compared to the other and steamed poorly. The runt offered to correct the hem right away but we didn't want to risk any more imperfections. We left it there for two days, picking up the day of prom with the risk of it not being perfect. When we went to then pick it up, we were faced with the dress still wrinkled, the hem was flawed, the dress was dirty meantime just bought from nordstroms for hundreds of dollars from being dragged around her dirty shop and a water stain dead center on the skirt of the dress. When brought to her attention both the troll and the runt refused to look at the issues as i was pointing them out and simply stated they did not do anything wrong to the dress, i am not (as in me the reviewer) a professional, what do we expect we brought it in a week before prom... And on and on. Its funny because the big sign in her window says "1 day alterations" and this was as simple of an alteration as it gets, of which we gave her a week and she said it was no problem prior when asked. She was nasty, rude, defensive and refused to take responsibility for her mistakes. To add insult to injury she screamed at me as if i were in the wrong, so I said I would never be back after a long screaming match for then the runt to say "Thanks god!!" Not Thank... But thankSSS.
