First of all we were those people. You know, the ones who come in just before closing. Ok it wasn't just before. They close at 8pm. I want to say we walked in around 7:30pm. But we were there until well after 8pm. I am sorry, but not now that I've eaten there. We had just gotten in to town from my sons, across the state. It's like an 8 hour drive. Anyway my BIL says let's go to BBQ. I'm thinking great, a sarcastic great, just what I want mediocre BBQ. Before you pop off with this is Memphis There's no such thing. I beg to differ. All others are mediocre compared to OUTLAW. First off our waitress was adorable. Cute as can be and that accent sent me into hysterics. She was absolutely a delight. We are late. The shift is ending and it's time to clean up and she greets us with not just a smile but the sweetest personality. That's service. Ok let's talk food. We ordered the meal for two. Catfish and ribs with two sides. Hubs doesn't just like catfish. That man can eat it like nobody's business. I ordered the ribs. Now comes the choices. Dry, wet or muddy. What? Is that another language. It sure is. This is Tennessee. We all know what dry rub is. Wet is BBQ Sauce. Muddy is both. Dry and wet. Whawhozy! Sides fried green tomatoes and BBQ beans were my choices. No pics because we descended on our food We didn't stop for lunch just drove all day long. Ergo ravenous, falling on our food hungry. Anywho, hubs took the fish. Here's a side note, I'm now allergic to fish and shellfish. All of it. It's a crying shame. Really it is. I miss it. Like a lot. His fish came with hush puppies. Those were like candy. So good. The fried green tomatoes had a side dipping sauce that was fantastic. Now the ribs. I couldn't cut them. They fell apart. I mean off the bone, melt in your mouth, feel the spicy burn, off the bone. I'm pretty sure I moaned but that's a personal problem. We will just skip that part. Oh and before I forget I cannot fail to mention my husband are half the ribs, too. Good service, friendly, quaint, open seating, large portions and lastly... the best BBQ I've had. We have a mediocre bbq place on the left coast where I live. This is not mediocre. The BBQ brisket nachos were amazing, the outlaw burger was like nothing else I have tasted- amazing, and the Ribs... simply perfection- the flavor of the dry rub mixed with the BBQ sauce (muddy) was a flavor explosion in my mouth! Not to mention the ribs were 100% perfectly cooked! They were extremely moist and the meat pulled off the bone clean. The restaurant was very clean and all the staff were extremely nice. service was great! Food came out hot. We will definitely be back here! We really love this place. Food and service always very good. Tried rib sandwich yesterday for the first time and it was delicious!! Husband's cheeseburger was good, but so messy (too much mayonnaise and mustard, so it got messy and soggy real quick and the burger patty wouldn't stay on the bun - it was a slippery mess!). Had to take it apart and eat the patty with a fork and knife. Tater tots and fries were excellent. Potato salad was okay, but would be much better if it was homemade and not food service prepared. The key lime pie was NOT GOOD. Tasted like straight sweetened condensed milk with no hint of lime. And so very plainly served ... not even a dollop of whipped cream or a little twist of lime ... nothing. Not a very nice presentation. Otherwise, we very much enjoyed everything else. read more

In town on work travel and this small, local, establishment was across the street from my hotel. The staff that greeted me were very friendly and explained the menu, although it's your typical BBQ with some extra creative items. I opted for the standard BBQ pork sammie, beans, and slaw. The BBQ pork was perfect, great smokey flavor and not dry. The beans were on the soupy side but tasted great. I was not a fan of the slaw, but that is because there was a heavy celery taste, some people like that but just not my thing. I bought a pound of bbq pork expecting it to either be pulled or chopped. Nope. It was shredded...which is a gross texture for a sandwich. Needless to say, I didn't serve it. I will have to use it in soup. Seriously? Shredded not chopped or pulled? Why? I don't know if there was an option to get it pulled or chopped but I wasn't told up front that it would be shredded. Just to start off, I generally avoid places that have burgers for $11+ so when I saw The Big Jesse Burger for over $15 I did groan in my head a little bit, but when I say I'd pay $30 for that burger I really mean it. On top of that the place was very clean and very cool to look around at the art and other pieces. Our waitress Abigail was very friendly and extremely helpful when answering every question we had. Food wise: When I first went here, it was delicious, now not so much. We ordered catfish. It was greasy and under cooked. Fries were same. Coleslaw had brown cabbage and bland. We tried the fried pies. Doughy and had a bad aftertaste. The brisket is tender and delicious. Pulled pork was flavorful and delicious. Bbq beans were more sweet but could be my preference. This BBQ joint knows what they're doing. Our first experience eating here was PHENOMENAL! Catfish was breaded and cooked perfection, ribs were juicy and seasoning was spot on (I had the spicy muddy version), and the sides were mind-blowing...from the okra to the mac 'n cheese to the BBQ bean and cole slaw. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone, which isn't exactly "competition" style texture, but there's something to be said about melt in your mouth ribs. The staff was amazing all the way around. I called in a take-out order, and I couldn't ask for a more pleasing, accommodating experience. The food was ready when I got there, and the staff members that rang me up were just as friendly. I was in town visiting with family. We were in the mood for some good bbq. I found this place on Yelp, and asked my family member if they had ever ate there. They had not, but we're willing to give it a try. We went to Outlaw BBQ. The ambiance was comfortable, nothing fancy. The service was prompt, courteous and accommodating. Then, the food... The portions were very abundant, and oh so delicious. We all feasted until we were full, and had leftovers for later. Literally the best burger I've ever had in my life. I went in the other day since I saw this location open. I ordered a basic double cheeseburger and fries, and a sweet tea. My waitress was this lovely older lady, she was incredibly attentive and welcoming. I was never out of sweet tea, as soon as the glass was empty my waitress filled it up. Dropped in here last Saturday for lunch with my kids. First off, if you're a fellow Tennessee Volz fan, you're gonna love this place (rocky top!) My son had the pulled pork sandwich, my daughter (not a huge BBQ fan) got a hotdog and fries, and I had the BBQ nachos. We also shared an order of bbq egg rolls which I highly recommend. All the food was great, and you get a serious amount of food for your money! I'm not a big guy, but I can EAT.
