Pulled pork plate with beans, slaw and toast
    Eric M.

If you ever happen to drive up Hwy 51N in Atoka, TN you'll find a small, gray building next to an Exxon gas station that has some of the best bbq you just might ever eat. The pulled pork is outstanding.. it's juicy, tender and really doesn't need any sauce. Speaking of sauce, theirs is a unique recipe unlike the normal heavy brown sugar molasses sugary sweet stuff you find at most Memphis establishments. The hot version is a bit better than the mild but who are we kidding; isn't that always the case?! The side items (cole slaw, beans) are also noteworthy. Don't miss this one!

It's pulled, it a little tough, but has a good flavor. But I want my BBQ sandwich to come DRESSED!
    Drew M.

All I can ask is why? Why would you buy an existing restaurant - in a small, tight-knit community, that has a good reputation for pork barbeque, and CHANGE EVERYTHING from the name of the restaurant to the food? I must admit - I'd never eaten anything at Sparky's EXCEPT the barbeque. After all, it's a small, local barbeque joint. And again, it's all about the barbeque. For years, Sparky's made my order... white meat, chopped and piled HIGH, with the cole slaw and sauce... just like I ordered it. Always tender, always consistent. With the new place (at least if you order it to go), it now comes with pulled meat slapped on a toasted bun, and wrapped in paper. The sauce (which was ALSO changed) and the cole slaw are in separate containers, and all crammed into a styrofoam box. You simply can not eat this on the road, haha! The meat was flavorful but tough. While not bad, the sauce has a distinctly different flavor. The cole slaw has an extra measure of sugar mixed in. The inside improvements are long overdue. Nice job with the limited space they had to work with. The barbeque needed NO improvements. And the name change? Well, I just don't get it. Ego, I guess.

BBQ sandwich & beans were delicious!

Sunrise Memphis did not disappoint. We stopped in around 12:30 p.m. on a Wednesday and didn't experience any crowds or much of a lunch rush. That being said, after eating here, I completely understand why people mention waiting hours on weekends. The ordering process is simple: walk up to the counter, place your order, grab a number, and seat yourself. I appreciated that they offer both breakfast and lunch all day because it meant we didn't have to choose between the two. I ordered the chicken tenders with tater tots and an Arnold Palmer. Everything was fresh, hot, and exactly the kind of comfort food you crave in the middle of a long road trip. Kyler ordered the Kitchen Sink, which came with eggs, bacon, hash browns, grits, and a biscuit. He asked if he could swap the cheesy grits and biscuit for biscuits and gravy, and they ended up bringing him everything anyway! It was a massive meal, but absolutely delicious. Beyond the food, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. I also loved the fun, eclectic atmosphere. The colorful Memphis touches throughout the restaurant gave it so much personality, and there was even a bar area that made me think this would be an absolute blast for brunch with friends. Sunrise Memphis ended up being one of our favorite surprises of the entire drive. If you're passing through town, do yourself a favor and stop here.

This place is quirky with its decor but on point with the food. Get the bacon! Always get the bacon! I'm still dreaming about it! Be warned! We were told during busy times, the line stretches around the building for a steady 8hrs at a time! May the timing of your visit ever be in your favor!

My folks ordered the Bartlett Breakfast with a side of fish and grits and the rest got shrimp and grits. We also tried the sunset lemonade, which was delicious and refreshing. The service was warm and friendly, just like you'd expect from a neighborhood gem. My only critique is that the space is on the smaller side. They're clearly well-loved and could definitely use a bigger location to accommodate their growing fan base. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a real, down-to-earth breakfast spot with amazing food and welcoming vibes.

My understanding is that they opened at the top of the year, but this event served as an opportunity to introduce this new black owned business to the Bartlett community. The location is quite convenient (by Kroger on Kirby Whitten). We had ample parking selections, and we were seated once we got in. We were greeted by every server, all seemed friendly and ready to serve. Inside, the atmosphere gives a family feel. There was a mix of couples in attendance, primarily skewing 40's-50's. My husband and I greatly appreciated the live jazz music, which added more upscale vibe to the overall experience. I also absolutely love that they had both a coffee bar and a standard bar. We did not try the hibachi, but that option was available as well. It took about 30 minutes for us to receive our food and about 15 minutes for us to receive our drinks. we had the mango and orange mimosas and both were good (though I highly recommend the mango). We both got the omelettes (veggie and veggie + ham). It was an ample amount of food. I couldn't even eat much of the hash browns because I was so full! For the price, we were both quite satisfied! Our server was attentive and consistently checked on us. Our water classes were never empty. I appreciate this type of service. We both agreed that we would be back, probably with family. I am hoping that this will become a staple in the Bartlett community.

The service was friendly and the drinks were surprisingly good, though their cocktail menu is primarily sweet beachy drinks which I don't prefer. We started with the BBQ shrimp and burnt ends plate, both of which were excellent. My girlfriend and brother both got the Debris Samich, which I liked but they did not as the bun was rather soggy. I thought it tasted good and was happy to treat it as a knife and fork sandwich. I had the 38-day dry aged prime ribeye- which was offered at a great price for the quality and the treatment of the meat. The center was cooked exactly how I ordered it, but around the outside the meat somehow appeared to be raw while simultaneously having a burnt crust on the outside. I was underwhelmed because even though most of the steak was great the burnt bits turned me off. We had a few desserts, and my favorite was the butter cake. They're definitely worth a try. Good food, good prices, and friendly service.
