If you ever happen to drive up Hwy 51N in Atoka, TN you'll find a small, gray building next to an Exxon gas station that has some of the best bbq you just might ever eat. The pulled pork is outstanding.. it's juicy, tender and really doesn't need any sauce. Speaking of sauce, theirs is a unique recipe unlike the normal heavy brown sugar molasses sugary sweet stuff you find at most Memphis establishments. Ordered large meal from here tonight. Service was good and most people were polite. Got 3 pulled pork sandwich meals, a burger meal, and 2 half slab meals. Bags seemed light so I asked if we had everything.... Answer was yes. Got home and we were missing the two half slab meals. They made them but weren't the nicest about it. Sauce is mustard base and not the best. Beans are definitely from a can and barely upgraded. Potato salad is amazing. It's a great local spot. Very old town style ambiance. Didn't take pictures because I was too busy driving back and forth. Give them a try to see if you like! Oh ribs were great as well. read more

All I can ask is why? Why would you buy an existing restaurant - in a small, tight-knit community, that has a good reputation for pork barbeque, and CHANGE EVERYTHING from the name of the restaurant to the food? I must admit - I'd never eaten anything at Sparky's EXCEPT the barbeque. After all, it's a small, local barbeque joint. And again, it's all about the barbeque. For years, Sparky's made my order... white meat, chopped and piled HIGH, with the cole slaw and sauce... just like I ordered it. Always tender, always consistent. With the new place (at least if you order it to go), it now comes with pulled meat slapped on a toasted bun, and wrapped in paper. The sauce (which was ALSO changed) and the cole slaw are in separate containers, and all crammed into a styrofoam box. You simply can not eat this on the road, haha! The meat was flavorful but tough. While not bad, the sauce has a distinctly different flavor. The cole slaw has an extra measure of sugar mixed in. The inside improvements are long overdue. Nice job with the limited space they had to work with. The barbeque needed NO improvements. And the name change? Well, I just don't get it. Ego, I guess. read more

To help clear up the previous persons review... This is a BBQ place that opened up at a previous BBQ restaurant. It's new ownership, so of course the name will change along with the menu. And I don't know about you, but I sure as hell don't want BBQ that I CAN eat while driving... that just can't be good BBQ! The new owners of this place were the previous owners of the then locally famous 'Post Office BBQ'. I love Big Dave's BBQ, and I'm very picky about my BBQ. I stopped in last Saturday with my daughter and we picked up an order to go. Place looks really nice on the inside (albeit small). The BBQ (pulled pork) and baked beans were on point. If you're into real, juicy, backyard style slow cooked BBQ, then I highly recommend giving this place a try. read more

We stopped in 2 weeks ago for a BBQ sandwich and then again 2 days ago. We were happy with the food & service. The meat is smoky, tastey, tender & pulled- but not in huge chunks (which I liked a lot). The mild sauce was different- but really good...a little sweet & a little vinegary. Slaw-absolutely & pretty good. Fries were frozen but freshly fried....so ok. Beans were just about perfect for me. I hear they have great pie but they were out.... read more

Great BBQ don't recommend the ribs they are over cooked no pull at all! Should not have to wait that long for precooked pulled pork.

I have been eating Sparkys BBQ forever seeing as I am a Munford native I guess you could say. Well tonight we ordered bbq from the new place for the first time. The bbq was way to greasy, the coleslaw was way to sweet, the beans were ok, the potato salad was not potato salad, it was flavorless mashed potatoes with onion. It was horrible. Along with the meat being greasy it was flavorless and tough to chew. And they didn't send any bbq sauce with our order. They only serve it in a 4 person package now and we have a large family of 6. The prices have gone up for half the quality of food. We were not impressed in the slightest and won't be back. Why fix something that wasn't broken. Improve the food and prices and we might come back. Good luck!! read more

Excellent juicy and flavorful PULLED PORK. VINEGAR-BASED SAUCE is not so great but the beans and slaw were good.

I had one of their BBQ Bologna sandwiches at Munford Celebrates recently and it was sorry. A slab of smoked? (no taste) bbq bologna with no grill or sear marks at all on a bun with sauce. They obviously don't know anything about BBQ bologna. I hope the rest of their food is better than this. read more

I've heard wonderful things from friends regarding the BBQ so decided to stop and get a take out order this afternoon about 3:45. Two gentlemen ahead of me ordered 2 slabs of ribs for take out. I was the only person left in line to order. I guess the man standing at counter was Big Dave and the cashier was a young blond teenager. I stood there about 3-4 mins and NO ONE addressed that I was standing at counter to place an order. Then the cashier come out from behind the counter into the small dining room and asked a family of 4 if she could get them anything. I was like really!!! Do you not see me standing here!!! I walked out with no food and no customer service and the owner was standing right there. I admit it smelled delicious but left disappointed. read more
