I used to drive from Bartlett once a week to eat lunch here, but things have changed with new ownership. The atmosphere is totally different and just doesn't feel the same anymore. The food is still good, but you can't order some things like you used to, but that's not all bad because there's still lots to enjoy. A small town vibe that feels so welcoming. We recently stopped here while in Henning for a work task. We found the location via Google and decided to give it a try. Very popular location based on the coming and going we observed during our time. The menu has so many southern cuisine options you'll have a hard time choosing what all to try. There are daily specials which might help you narrow it down. Nothing fancy just a delicious meal with friendly atmosphere. Because I didn't want to have the 'itis as we had four more hours to complete, I chose the cheeseburger and fries. That burger was hefty!!! And the sweet tea has all the sugar . My fiancé and I love tasting restaurants, and this place was not disappointing at all. The place is clean and was packed with customers eating at tables and many orders to go too when we first arrived (always a great sign). I ordered a vegetarian meal, which was easy to pick from the sides, as all of them are vegetarian options, except for the white beans that contain bacon in them. But as a good Mexican I only put them to the side and ate them all up. The walls are pretty entertaining with funny quotes. I will not put the quotes so that you enjoy them when you get there. But I'm sure you can grasp a little from my pictures. I ordered the turnip greens, mashed potatoes, cornbread, and white beans. My fiancé ordered the Friday meal which is meatloaf with a choice of two sides although my fiancé picked two more sides, fried okra, broccoli with cheese, mashed potatoes with white gravy and a side of salad plus cornbread, and a bread bun. The salad came with a ranch dressing that is as good as "Chili's restaurant's" fresh ranch dressing (yum). We also ordered German chocolate cake but I didn't have time to take a picture, my fiancé ate it too fast. It was sweet and the coconut dressing was on point, perhaps too sugary for me but with a good side of coffee would have been fine (dang it I forgot to get coffee). The food here is as good as when you visit your cousins aunt , you feel the love into the meal. I definitely recommend this place, you don't have to dress nice, and the workers know you're not from the area so they all make sure to say hello, which I find that very caring. Everyone came over to say hi and greet us, "oh new faces, I hope you like what we have" lol , something like that was what two waitresses said. Gets real crowded come lunch hour. When you walk into this little shop you can tell it's a town staple. The servers are real nice and sweet and they sure are good at upselling! I got the Thursday special: Chicken and dressing! It's chicken, and cornbread dressed with full bodied gravy. Haven't forgotten to mention the cranberry jelly that comes with it! Two sides I chose were purple hull peas and Thursday Special side - sweet potato casserole with melted marshmallow on top! Give me one sec to try it... Alright. Done and done. Oh my God it was great. I love beans and the purple hulled beans were soft and just seasoned enough for my taste. The casserole was a hefty complement - made with real sweet potato (you can see the fibers), it added a healthy twist (though the marshmallow I can't say the same about haha). The chicken and dressing were delicious. Loved the cornbread underneath, the gravy was seasoned just right. The jelly was a little sweet for me, but overall, it was delicious. We were so full we didn't take a single bite out of the cornbread and bread rolls we were so accustomed to digging into. Now I know for the future, skip the rolls and I may have a chance at finishing the plate! Give this little shop a go :) read more

Walking through the town square, My coworker and I asked a local Sherrif where to go for lunch and he suggested court square cafe. Boy was he right!! Very nice staff of all ages. Super efficient and pleasant. I came in with an open mind and was more than satisfied with all aspects. The food was perfectly prepared, country fried steak and house salad with chicken. This place has been right off the Square in Covington, TN for many years and it is always a happening place especially at lunch. It has a nice environment, the staff is friendly, and the food is delicious. The prices are also good and about what you would expect for a place like this. The portion sizes are good as well. I love this place with the only downside being the space is limited so people are often on top of one another. read more

Some of the best home cooked food you can find in this area. It's definitely a dive but it has great service and great food for cheap. The waitresses have that southern hospitality that you expect from a place like this. I live in Memphis and it's my first stop any time I come home. My wife and I were in Covington recently for lunch and found Court Square Cafe. Well, the reviews were good and we are glad we tried it out. Turns out that the building was built in the 1940's which added to the atmosphere. First, the service staff were courteous, friendly and they made us feel welcome. I had the huge country fried steak (it was half the size of the plate), scratch made mashed potatoes and homemade sweet potatoe casserole. Everything was well seasoned and full of flavor. My wife enjoyed her chicken and dressing with spinach and cornbread. If you're in or going to Covington - or simply passing by on Hwy 51 - take a quick trip over to Court Square and have some great food and gracious service. Giving one star because I can't give less. This may have been the most disgusting meal I've ever had. The "mesquite" chicken salad was more like nasty salisbury chicken smothered in some type of gravy over lettuce. My mom had the catfish sandwich, which people apparently rave about, but it was not fresh, not tasty and downright almost inedible. We thought the saving grace would be the fries, but they were obviously store bought and warmed up in a microwave. There aren't many places to stop between Memphis and Paducah, KY, but we won't be stopping back in here. Terrible. read more
