For starters between me and my fiancé we ordered 4 entrees ( Steak, catfish, spaghetti, cajun alfredo ) . the pasta was so bland and noodles were soggy we sent it back because it could not be saved with salt and pepper. The catfish meat was completely detached from the breading/shelling ( you could literally flap the meat of the catfish inside of the shell). though me and my fiance enjoyed the flavor about an hour after eating there my stomach began making an unsettling noise. me and my fiancé are now both battling food poisoning from the catfish. read more

Forced myself out of the house today. Drove up to Ripley because they have a steak house and I didn't want to go to Memphis for dinner. Remember, I just wanted out of the house. Nice place. Large and inviting. Friendly staff. Was surprised by the plastic wrapped utensils which included paper napkins. Ok. Forgivable if the steak is good. Salad buffet was super fresh! Lettuce was crispy and clean. Not one limp or brownish leaf. I don't eat dressing, but I peeked and noticed that there wasn't a dry skim on the top. All the other ingredients were fresh as could be. I jumped ahead and grabbed the salad because I was hungry before getting the menu. I should have stayed with the salad. When I was handed the menu I was unhappy with the age and cleanliness of it. It wasn't gross but it needed a cleaning and even an update to the menu itself. Ordered my 9 oz ribeye medium with baked potato. The wait time was not bad. Then again, I should have been alarmed by how empty the place was. Also should have avoided the blue hair early bird time that I went in. My fault for being hungry. To be fair and honest, I am 59 so I might be able to get away with that. I was pleased to see the steak plate land in front of me. Took me a moment to realize how pale it was and yet still had grill marks. Ok. Fine. Cut into it and saw that it was over cooked. A shame. Sent it back and hoped I wouldn't get a spit steak in return. Cue the final Jeopardy tune. Second steak arrives and I cut into it to make sure it was how I ordered it. Just a hair beyond medium but acceptable. Again, still hungry. Waitress walked away and I tucked in. Not one bit surprised when there was no seasoning. If I say it was bland, you can bet it was bland! Potato was hot and cooked to perfection! I gave the young woman a good tip since it wasn't her fault. It's also the Friday before Christmas and I am not going to be a Grinch. Too many people would have reduced or even not given a tip because something she had no control of. Rant over. Probably the most bizarre lunch I've had this year. The word steakhouse fools you. Because it looks and feels like a Hometown Buffet, complete with buffet lunch option and soft serve machine. Even the plates look like Hometown Buffet. The prices are really low. But you quickly realize the cost savings comes from choices like providing generic ketchup. The chicken parm lunch... it looks like small chicken breast thrown on a backyard grill, covered with an oddly textured marinara sauce and a slice of provolone. I'm leaving this restaurant confused about what just happened here. I guess it was lunch. Or it was supposed to be. For the price, it isn't bad. But it isn't what you expect from a steakhouse. Everyone was friendly but didn't make it for the buffet. We where just passing threw and thought it would be a good place to stop for a bite to eat. The salad bar is good but would not recommend the burgers. The burgers just tasted like the grill and had a lot of char on it. They also have various things on their menu to pick from. I wouldn't advise people who don't live in the area to come here. read more

I have eaten in this restaurant for over 20 years. Do not believe the negative reviews. It is a great place to eat, clean, and friendly. They have a well appointed salad bar and lots of menu choices. Very good steaks at a very reasonable price. They also have the best salad bar in town. Granted, they don't have much competition here, but the food is fresh and the options are decent. My only complaint is that their ice cream machine doesn't appear to work very well. I can live without ice cream though. If I want ice cream, I'll go to DQ . read more

A coworker and I (from out of town) checked out this place for lunch this week and it was great. We got seated right away. The staff was very friendly. The price was $13.00 for buffet and drink. They have a decent salad bar. Wilted lettuce and messy buckets are a red flag for me but they had it really clean. A separate buffet line for hot food which was rolls, corn, mashed potatoes, brown gravy, beans, Salisbury steak with mushrooms, homemade chicken and dumplings, fried pork chops. The only downside is if you order from the menu, it'll take longer because I think they cater to the buffet more. My coworker got chicken tenders and had to wait 20 minutes. Quite possibly the worst steak I've ever had at a steakhouse. I had the NY strip, medium. Cutting into it was like trying to saw through a tennis shoe, which actually made sense because it had the flavor & consistency of shoe leather. My friend ordered the rib eye and it was so tough & bland that he didn't even finish it. And the only thing worse than eating a bad steak is choking one down without a beer- This place doesn't serve alcohol. I wouldn't suggest this place to anyone. read more

The food was mediocre at best. The NY strip was greasy and overcooked. The baked potato was similarly overcooked. The salad bar was alright, but certainly nothing special. However, all of that could be overlooked because it was relatively cheap (16$ or so). The service was quite bad however. They were less than 1/3 full, and yet I only saw my server 3 times. My drink was not refilled once, It took me 15 minutes to flag her (or anyone else) down to get my check, and almost an additional 10 to pay because no one was at the register. My son and I were in Ripley for job interview when we ate here. It was right next to our Days Inn motel and we noticed a pretty good crowd here so decided to try it out. The reviews were mostly average but gave it a shot. Glad we did. They had a nice loaded salad bar with the best looking lettuce I've ever seen in any salad bar. I saw no CORE pieces like u normally see because they throw the whole head in core and all. It was all the freshest leafy lettuce I've seen in a bar. The also had an ice cream machine with a few toppings. We both ordered steak. I had the 9oz ribeye w a baked potato. My son had sirloin w shrimp. His sirloin was a nice thickness while mine was a typical thin cut large steak. Not a good cut of steak ever anywhere. That being said they both had very good char flavor and was cooked correct. My ribeye was a bit fatty n grissely in places but here is the kicker. Our steaks were both about $15 each and that included the salad bar, ice cream and our soft drinks! Our total bill was $32! Whaaat!!!! It's been a long time since I've seen a restaurant that included the drinks. It's never done anymore. Yep I'm pushing 59 so I've seen a few things. To too add to the whole deal these people were the friendliest people I've seen in a long time. So polite and happy. O attitudes here and if u ever eat here u will understand why this is a big deal here. The food was worth every penny we spent here. It's not a place u drive out of your way to eat but it's just a great value for a decent meal. They do have a little higher grade angus steak for around $22 but didn't see the need. I could barely finish what I had. Cheap is the key word here and good decent food and great people. Wish the whole world was like these people. The whole place was very clean as well.
