WeI came to Back Yard bar-be-cue to have lunch with my Sister and celebrate my Doctorate Degree. The restaurant is very clean, welcoming and inviting. We were immediately greeted by Frost and he was superb with his hospitality and outstanding customer service. Our food was very tasty and delicious. The portions are plentiful too. Frost made our experience exceptional because he was very professional knowledgeable, polite, and swift with his service. Warning *Tough Post Alert* In my travels to Memphis TN and then to Union City, TN, I have passed by this restaurant on at least 6 different occasions. The 7th time I decided to stop, and I wish I had kept going. To put it simple, it's the works BBQ ribs I've ever had in life. Most things I eat and don't like I can find something decent to say about it. These ribs were simply inedible. They were not seasoned and lack flavor. They literally tasted like 2day old ribs. I flew in to Memphis from Dallas, TX for work and the fat girl in me was craving some BBQ. On the way to Jackson, I looked on Apple maps trying to find a place that was on the way and the food looked good. So I found this place and the service was really good. They even let me know the cornbread was fresh from the oven so picked that. The inside definitely had the southern touch and felt like I was back in Texas. I got the brisket, potato salad, coleslaw, cornbread, and sweet tea. It was very good! The meat was nice and flavorful, coleslaw wasn't siting in juice, and cornbread was definitely homemade. Their sweet tea is good but not as sweet as Texas sweet tea but we like it so sweet we want to die happy. I couldn't wait to get to the hotel to eat, so I don't have a pic. Definitely will be putting this as a bookmark when I come back out this way for work! read more

Was in town for the night, so I needed some good hot eats. Found Back Yard Bbq on Yelp, the reviews were decent so I swung by. There is a drive-thru line which was long af when I pulled up, so I went inside to order. The young girl at the counter was friendly and smiling. I ordered the Rib plate with baked beans and potato salad. The meat was tender, not chewy and tough at all. Could have used a little more seasoning but it was good nonetheless. The potato salad was nicely done, although I did add a nice bit of pepper to it. The baked beans were your average baked beans, nothing extra. Good though. I enjoyed my meal and the friendly service. I heard an advertisement on the radio and literally drove right beside so place. So I stopped in. Can't say enough positive about the staff. They were great. Lilly took my order and payment. And also gave me my food. That's where service ends. I had the Pulled Pork plate. The BBQ was average at best. It wasn't bad. It just didn't have any flavor. And NO smoke to it. Potato Salad tasted just like Kroger Southern Style. Macaroni and Cheese had no flavor and was runny. I quest the best thing I had was the Banner Pudding. It seemed to be home made. I love their potato's, the pulled chicken as well. But when you have gloves on for arthritis or carpal tunnel and serving the public in a restaurant is terrible. You're handling cash payments, going to the other end bagging food and touching the plates with the gloves helping on the people that are dining in. The health department should take a look into this because this is not sanitary AT ALL. I get it if they help and for a condition but please put plastic gloves on over the arthritis gloves you may have to wear. Please and thank you read more

Brisket was tough as wet leather. Pulled chicken was dry. The pulled pork was fair. Baked beans and slaw were ok.

It's Only 8-10 minutes off the I-40 so we decided to stop for lunch on our way ti Memphis. They have drive thru & dine in. You order at the counter. I got a jumbo baked potato & my husband got a pork sandwich with fries. That plus a large soda was $13- not bad! The side of fries was a pretty small portion though. Food was extremely poor quality! Canned green beans, canned baked beans. The potato salad was pre- made from Sisco as was the coleslaw, yet that was doctored "up" with pickle relish?!? It was horrible. We were told the brisket was not sliced ‍ Ok that's fine I was curious and would have been fine with it had it been good. Dry! Came out like pulled pork only pulled brisket. Dry and tasteless. Barely edible. The bbq sauce was good and that came on the side. So dousing your meat in it was it's only saving grace...! I sincerely don't understand how the lines were as long as they were. They seem to be quite popular? I couldn't tell you why. I don't bash businesses. Nice bbq joint, service was friendly and they have drive thru if needed. I prefer my brisket sliced but they serve it chopped so I wasent expecting that and didn't like it. The sausage was yummy, baked beans were flavorful and hot, potato salad was yummy. Save room for the homemade banana pudding. Closed on sundays. read more

The beans Was spot on some of the best flavorful beans I have tasted. The coleslaw was a little different seemed to have pickles in there and it was different! Came back to this place as a last resort to try some good bbq in a small town while passing through... Friendly staff overall, but I couldn't get a straight answer out of the guy that we ordered from when I asked which of their items he recommends. Tried the turkey, pulled pork, and ribs, all of which were cooked well but strongly lacked flavor. After putting enough BBQ sauce on the meats it then had flavor. BBQ pork is always great. Giant stuffed potatoes are sometimes a little on the small side but not always. just check it before you leave if your going through the drive thru. Potato soup is awesome. Onion rings are beer battered so they're great too. Corn bread is served as muffins. Get extra because their awesome. read more

Come hungry - leave happy. Every time I visit here I make a point to stop in and have their pulled pork sandwich. The large is a full meal in itself but I can't resist a side of beans with it. This visit they had lemon ice Box pie - I had to get a slice to go as I was too full to eat it.
