This was a good experience while in Haywood. I was in the area for a training, and this was the closest location for food. I am glad we decided to go here. It was super crowded because all of the other attendees visited as well. I must say they handled the crowd really well. Even though they were packed they still managed to get our food out in time. Oh, and they cook everything to order. I had the chicken club sandwich, and it was very delicious and plentiful! The fries were fresh also. They give you a large drink with your order. I had their homemade sweet tea, and it definitely reminded me of the tea my god mom would make. I topped it off with the heath bar cake. It was good as well. The ambiance was super chill. Great little burger joint on the north side of Brownsville! Must be a local favorite as the place was packed with eat-in and to-go patrons. They are for sure Big UT fans with memorabilia everywhere making it a down home atmosphere. Sweet lady taking orders was so nice. We have visited The Basket a couple times...and Yes! Their hamburgers are Delicious! But tonight we tried the grilled chicken salad and it was Fantastic! Great toppings, fresh crispy lettuce, and flavorful grilled chicken with ranch! We also shared a grilled chicken baked potato...Wow! Delicious and so big! They are really busy and the wait was about 20 minutes but they were filling drive up /called in orders as well. I did notice that many locals called in their order before dining in...what a cool solution to a long wait! Well, we were excited to try the basket, as we have heard good things from our friends about their food. We went tonight to give them a try and they were packed, usually a good sign that you are going to get good food. While waiting in line, I talked to a nice gentleman about ordering and he also told me that the food was good. After waiting in line for 20 minutes, we made it so that we could place our order. I ordered the bite sized shrimp plate with a baked potato and a salad, and my wife ordered the chicken strip salad with corn fritters. After ordering, they told us it would be about 45 minutes. We said ok, since we knew the food would be awesome! An hour went by and people who had come in after us and ordered had gotten their food, eaten, and left and we still hadn't had our name called. I had just gotten up to go check on our food when they called our name. We were almost the only ones left in the place, so I almost think they lost our order, but finally that awesome food was here! I brought the food back to the table and quickly tasted a shrimp to be completely disappointed. These were food service shrimp that have more batter than shrimp. The potato was good, but it is hare to screw up a potato. My salad was ok, but the dressing, blue cheese, left a lot to be desired. My wife's salad was fair, the dressing, thousand island, was less than desirable and the corn fritters weren't that great. So, either we have been lied to, the quality of the food has gone down hill, there is food on the menu that needs to be removed, so that you order food that tastes good, or you need to try somewhere that actually has good food to know what it tastes like, because this is not good at all! We are from Memphis but happened to be in town and did a quick yelp search for good restaurants. We stumbled across this restaurant and the food was so amazing and so fresh. They customized our burgers the way we wanted them with no hesitation. The burgers are way bigger than they look like in the photographs and the prices are very fair. I can only speak for the burger basket (bacon), hot wing basket & onion rings+French fries & they were HEAVENLY (Like I'm pretty sure the burger is the manna that fell from heaven). However the French fries have no seasoning or anything special.. they're just French fries & same goes for the onion rings. But this is the second time coming with my family & we love it! Very quick service and big burger. My husband and I shared a Jalapeño Cheese burger and a small loaded cheese fries. (I would have hated to see the large! This SMALL was NOT small). Honestly, I've had better burgers. But maybe we just have a different expectation of our burgers in Texas. I saw this place featured in local magazines and hear say and I have been so excited to finally visit this place. We used it as a date night. We had never been there before so we were unsure if we should sit first or order at the counter. No one said anything to us for 5 minutes. The employees weren't very friendly. Finally we ordered and I got a patty melt. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. I also tried a bite of a burger and it still wasn't that great.
