I didn't take photos, but I can tomorrow, since I'll be back! This coffee was perfect! I have no idea what it was called because I just said I like white mochas. I had it made with almond milk. We also got bagels with cream cheese and honey, iced coffee and a smoothie. Happy with it all. Seems like a gem of a place. I recommend It if you're in the area or vacationing. So far, I've only grabbed a coffee here and chatted with the owner & employees. The coffee was freshly brewed and hot, and the bold one was perfect for my taste. They also had a milder brewed coffee. They've also got a nice espresso machine, smoothie and tea stuff - but all I ever need is good coffee, so I didn't try those. Great food! Food came out pretty quickly. Easy spot. The granola bar is good, but just be aware that they use the unsweetened yogurt (much healthier). However, the honey and fruit they put in there really helps make the granola bowl sweet without it being too sweet. Highly recommend. read more

Nice little local shop with coffee and light breakfast options. For COVID they have ordering at the door and they bring food out to you when it's ready. They have very comfortable seats out front - the strip mall is kinda sleepy so it was casual and relaxing to watch the traffic up on the highway as we enjoyed our breakfast. read more

Breakfast sandwich was great. Hardboiled eggs is a new concept for us on a breakfast sandwich, the fresh focaccia bread is a great touch. Will definitely be back for the breakfast sandwich. The latte was just ok, nothing special.....holding it back from being a 5 star spot. it was good enough though that we will definitely be back. If you place your order online, don't hesitate to pop in the restaurant to see if your order is ready. I feel it necessary to write a honest critique so that my friends and I will continue to go to the outer bean. it was our go to spot for smoothies and healthy food, until a series of under whelming experiences. The last few times we got food from the outer bean there was barely enough veggies to cover the bread, not even visible when unwrapping the sandwich, i thought at first it was just two pieces of bread. I was willing to wait the long time to receive my food bc it was loaded down with all the toppings and always good and healthy. The last few times where quite disappointing . Today we decided to give it one more try bc the smoothies are always delicious. after yoga me and the class decided to all get food and smoothies and go to the beach. we went to the website and it said duck was closed but kitty hawk was open. so we went online to order, taking the time to pass the phone around for everyone to put in their order, and then it never gave the option to place the order, so we called them... and sure enough they are closed ... sad face . I hope they realize I'm giving this feedback so that is locals want to continue going there, bc the last few experiences have not been good, and we really enjoyed the place , but recently we have not felt we have got our moneys worth, or have been disappointed that their website says they are open, it lets us order, and then they are closed . if they fix these issues we will gladly go back. read more

This is an amazing place that I couldn't recommend more. Two young women were busting their butts to make it through the Saturday morning *Labor day weekend* RUSH (i literally watched one woman RUN back and forth for an hour and a half to get people their orders as quickly as possible). COVID made it especially hard for them, since they were taking online orders only. Their signage noted COVID required them to take online orders for the first time - so there is also a learning curve with acclimating to this new way of life for small businesses. The food was absolutely worth it. In fact, we went back a few hours later for lunch! Morning eats consisted of 1 Spice Girls smoothie, 1 Cold & Flu juice, 1 salmon bagel and 1 hummus and focaccia. Everything was delicious and flavorful. The focaccia was EVERYTHING - addictive I'd say! My Cold & Flu juice was WAY TOO lemony, but a few pumps of complimentary simple syrup balanced it out. Lunch consisted of 1 FREE brewed coffee (for checking in on Yelp, but was also offered to us in the morning because we waited so long for our order), 1 Turkey sandwich with bacon added and 1 Vegan Sandwich (that's right - MORE FOCACCIA!) Everything was fresh - moist bread, cold crisp veggies and complex spreads (hummus and tapenade) that will make you go MMmmmmmmmmm. Can't wait to stop back in throughout our trip! COVID NOTES: No inside seating; but a lot of seating options out front (the other business didn't seem to mind people using their seats/tables either). This is great in the morning when there is plenty of shade; in the afternoon you'll bake - so plan to grab and go). My ordering process took a while because literally every salad, wrap, panini, and sandwich appealed to me strongly. Ultimately I chose The Nutrition 101 salad, a monster plate of divine veggies and tofu with a bold yet tastefully applied sesame ginger dressing. Favorite meal of the week. This place excels at making vegetarianism or veganism seem like decadent lifestyle, but carnivores fear not. There is plenty of marinated chicken and high quality deli meat to accommodate post-surf protein craving. A note on cost: The price to portion ratio was excellent and greatly appreciated, as I am poor young and permanently hungry. I was lucky enough to visit for coffee and then lunch the day after. The espresso was rich and delicious. The other coffee shops around the area are sometimes guilty of burning a straight espresso. Not here. The vibe is mellow, reminiscent of a top notch urban coffeehouse/cafe. The people are very kind. After a difficult conversation with my mother during which I must have seemed distressed, the owner herself came over to make sure everything was ok. When I saw that there was a vegetarian-friendly breakfast spot less than a mile from where we were staying in Kill Devil Hills, we had to check it out. And it turned out to be one of the best places we dined on vacation, so I'm really glad we did! I'm not veggie (my bf is), so I tried the chicken wrap and it was amazing. Loved the black bean paste and the fact that it had plenty of veggies. My boyfriend got the vegan wrap, and he loved it. That one also had the black bean paste, and we felt super satisfied after we finished. The owner was a complete delight and we enjoyed talking with her while we waited for our food. When I arrived in the shop there was no one at the register, but after waiting a couple of minutes I was greeted with a smile and a friendly hello. The smoothie overall was pretty good. It wasn't a bad smoothie, but it was not an amazing one. I'll be going back soon to try some of their food options. The cafe itself was fairly small. I ordered celery juice and it was brown. The owner saw my face and was like "it's fine it just carrot from the juice before. It's celery juice you'll be fine we just don't clean the juicer between juicing" I've been getting fresh juices for years and I've never had to deal with something like this. For a juice that costs $8 and is only celery it was quite a rip off. I also had pulp in my brown juice. Just sloppy...I recommend going else where if you are from out of town. read more

My favorite cafe in the OBX! My husband and I especially loved the salmon salad and the Life Boost protein drinks. I also loved the Lady Bug protein boost drink, the double expresso latte with almond milk, the mushroom panini with avocado, extra mushrooms. We also tried and liked the vegan salad, the vegan panini, and other offerings. One of the great things about this cafe is that they have so many delicious vegan and vegetarian offerings. it is easy to adapt menu requests as well. I have a serious shellfish allergy, and it is a relief to be able to enjoy such excellent offerings. We ate food from this cafe at least four times in a week and we missed it when we left. I am very inspired now to make some really great smoothies at home. It is best to make takeout orders by 2 p.m. if possible, as the cafe closes at 3 p.m. each day. SO delicious! The staff was so quick with our orders and everything was wonderful! If you are vegetarian and on the road this is a must stop breakfast/lunch stop! I got the Nana Love breakfast sandwich and my husband got the go-Vegan wrap. They split each into two servings - halved sandwich and halved wrap - so we were actually able to each have one half of each order! The food was delicious and super flavorful! The sandwiches, salads, soups, teas, and vegetable juices are all fantastic here. After our first visit, we went here every day that we spent in OBX, a great way to start the day. The food was fresh, and the sandwiches and salads had great combinations of flavors, such as the Vegan Sandwich (olive tapenade, humus, sunflower seeds, tomatoes, cucumbers, apples, and spinach on focaccia bread), which was amazing, and the Three Cheese Panini (a decadent mixture of brie, pepper jack, and cheddar cheeses; roasted red pepper, apple, caramelized onions, tapenade, and sun-dried tomato pesto on focaccia), which was delicious. The Kale Salad was not bitter, as some kale can be, and between the peanut dressing, avocado, apple, and almonds, it is a delicious and filling salad. The Juice Beet Dream (a combination of beet, carrot, pear, apple, lemon, orange juice, which I also added ginger to) was delicious and fresh, and provided a great deal of energy on a four mile hike in the sun. The Butternut Squash Soup was hearty and tasty, and the Golden Milk Tea Latte and Ginger Iced Tea were also flavorful. We took a day trip to see the sunrise at Cape Hatteras, and picked up sandwiches, juice, and salads the day before, which I'd recommend as nothing is open at that hour, and these items were perfect for the day trip. Check out their specials, which are at the top of the online menu. There are lots of other options for sandwiches, salads, teas, and juices, and also smoothies. For covid, they wore masks & require customers to wear them. There are two outdoor tables, otherwise it is takeout only. You order online through their website, and they text you when it's ready, and make hot drinks (tea, coffee) when you arrive so they will be fresh and warm. I think they put some spice or something on it because it had a really good flavor! The berry heaven smoothie was great! My friend ordered the Shake your Mocha drink with chocolate, ice cream, and espresso. It was really good! Not too heavy with chocolate and the ice cream hit the spot! There is limited seating here. Couches and some chairs inside with a couple tables outside. Everyone was really friendly! Next time I'm back in the area, I will definitely come here! They have breakfast and lunch, smoothies, juices, and espresso! all of the food is all natural and they have plenty for vegetarian/vegan customers. We came on two different occasions. Sat morning (brunch time) was very busy but the owner was good about keeping social distancing between the customers waiting for their food. We came again Monday and it was a lot calmer. The cafe itself is clean and provides chairs outside if u choose to eat there. As for the food, highly suggest the VegPesto Panini (Omg, so full of flavor, must try !!!!). Their smoothies are good too, all fresh ingredients. Their Green Matcha bowl was ok... i would have preferred a thicker consistency for the matcha as it was a little watery but i still enjoyed the fresh fruits.
