What a great place. We have been juicing the last few months and actually brought our juicer with us to the beach. We found Outer Bean and figured we would try their juice. What a great idea. We got 1 green drink and 1 beet drink and they were so good we asked why are they so much better then ours! Well the owner was happy to tell us. We then got a portobello sandwich that my daughter loved and we all share the cheese and olive platter. We not only felt great, but it was seriously good. The owner was great to chat with and takes pride in her store. We will go back and enjoy our meals and Juice again. read more

Excellent fresh, healthy and tasty food. Veggies come from local farmer's co-op. I;m a local and I plan to go back often. The place only has a couple of tables so take-out is your best bet. Or go early for dinner. read more

I wish i enjoyed this place as much as the other reviewers here. I did not try the extensive vegan and vegetarian food options that other people are raving about. But i did go in for a simple iced coffee and i felt the process was a little unorganized, i felt rushed versus welcomed, and the cashier took a call while we were still completing our order- and continued to say to the other person on the line that she was very busy instead of finishing taking care of us. *Our iced coffees were filled to the rim with crushed ice before coffee was poured over it, leaving us with only 2 sips of coffee and lots of melted ice.* We'll give this place another try the next time we're in obx. read more

Perfect green smoothie! I ordered the My Way (without walnuts, added carrot) and it was perfect. Made fresh, with great add ins like chia and flax. Much needed while fighting a summer cold. Will be back. read more

Sandwich was very good but took a long time due to grill not ready. You serve Panini's that grill should be hot and ready at all times. Sandwiches should also include some sort of side dish. Chips, small salad etc for the price. Raleigh restaurants offer that with sandwiches for the same or less. Very noisy inside due to blenders having no sound cover. Some sort of fine particle haze made sitting inside tough after being inside so long. Specialty coffee drinks were very light in flavor and viscosity would not go for again once again for the price. My wife and I, who are vegetarian, and our daughter, who is vegan, were very happy to find a cafe in OBX that understands that good vegetarian food is not simply removing the meat or fish from a dish designed for non-vegetarians. The soup, appetizers and sandwiches were creative, made with fresh ingredients, and very tasty. The owner, in her wisdom, also offers a variety of options for non-vegetarians. The smoothie and coffee options are impressive and are worth a beach break (which several people seemed to have figured out during the time we were lunching). Awesome little spot, so glad we lucked upon it on our way out of town. We grabbed a breakfast bite to-go: good quality coffee with a shot of espresso, a healthy granola veggie/fruit combo for me, a toasted bacon & egg sandwich for my boyfriend. Soooo this place is great. Reasonable, healthy, yummy food. What else could you ask for? Oh... Good coffee? Got it. Crushed ice in your drinks? Yes, have it. This is the type of place that I would go to over and over again if I lived close by! It seriously just nourishes your body. We had a meal shake and a green granola bowl one morning-both good... Best salad I've ever had!! Delicious smoothies too. Only downside is we tried to go back a few days later and they told us that since it was 15 minutes before closing, we'd have to take our food to go. We decided to eat elsewhere - you should at least let customers finish eating if they order before closing. read more

I drove twenty minutes to eat here and I would drive over thirty to get a meal here. The value is exceptional and my salmon salad was fresh and large and wonderful. I also got a turkey panini to go and it was delicious cold. The staff are terrific. I have family members who are vegetarian, carnivores, and picky - they could all eat here. What a delight. Just had coffee there (no food or smoothies) and left pretty disappointed. This is not a coffee spot for java lovers. The coffee itself (we had a latte and an iced coffee) was mediocre since it tasted like the machines they use to brew hadn't been thoroughly cleaned leaving that rancid coffee oil taste. Perhaps the other items there are worth it, but I'd steer clear of the coffee if you're particular about your brew. read more
