I went to the store just to window shop. Unfortunately I'm traveling, and schlepping these purchases was just impractical. So I decided to make a shopping list instead. I did have a couple of very specific items that I would purchase if the price was right. I had a caliper/vernier on the list. Mine has lost its tiny electric brain and is crazy. I spotted the mechanical one that I wanted. The quality was astonishing, this tool will certainly last forever. Honestly, I could include this item in my will. It was certainly more expensive than the electronic one that I got from Harbor Freight. I've tried to use the Harbor Freight version, but it was useless. So for this particular tool pay for the quality. Making a shopping list was certainly more productive than actually walking into the store with a pre-generated list. I spotted a lot of items that I knew I was out of, but hasn't made it onto any list at all. I spotted a Dremel tool at a very low price. It may have been on clearance. Now I do want a Dremel tool, but I would use it so infrequently that it's hard to justify. However, the price was low enough that I felt much temptation. I must have been completely turned around the first time I was in the store. This time I found the clearance bins. As usual I found quite a few items to tempt me. I managed to hold my horses and resist but it wasn't easy. The store is also bigger than I realized. Which means the greatest barrier to shopping is finding your item in the maze. I didn't buy anything so my take on customer service is a little shaky. However, the staff did seem to be awfully efficient And the line moved rapidly. This store is part of a chain, and I have certainly been in bigger ones. But I didn't miss the size. They have simply jammed a lot of inventory into a smaller space. But you do need a sharp eye just in case you walk by an item. I like this hardware store. But there is one way close to me at home which I like faintly better. So I'm going home with my shopping list. read more

My go to store for recycling old batteries and paint; however, the downside is that I wander through the store and buy more stuff! Employees are knowledgeable and polite. Don't hang out too long in the BBQ area, you may end up bringing something new home. read more

Called and asked about if they carried a part called a hot rod for our Traeger smoker, the lady we spoke to transferred us to another section of the store, we waited for ten minutes and the call transferred us back to the same lady. We stated our question again and she said hold on let me check, about ten seconds later she said no they don't carry it. In the time we waited we went online and found that the store actually has 14 in stock. We went to the store our selves and sure enough, ten feet from the cash registers were the part we're looking for, super easy to find. While this is a small issue it's insane that people don't want to do the basic requirement of their job and actually help people. Very poor customer service and great way to loose people from going to your store. read more

Went there to buy a machete for the garden and Teddy (big shoutout to Teddy) was phenomenal in helping me find it, inquire about the price match (online price match with Amazon) and definitely with the eventual purchase as he let the cashier know about the price match. He did walk me through the options available as well and definitely helped me by making visit short quick and to the point. This is an amazing place! I was crushed when Orchard Supply closed but I was so glad this company by the same acronym moved in. The employees are super helpful and friendly. They always take the time to answer this grandma's questions fully. If I have a return, they make it super easy. Their prices are reasonable. They could have more selection, but it is a small store. As a bonus, at check outs they have candy from when I was a child. I can share with my family and tell good stories. read more

I used to love OSH. It used to be a great store for getting help from actual people who seemed to know what you'd want them to know, good selection, fair prices. That is not today's OSH. Today's OSH it's virtually impossible to find help, especially in the garden section. Selection is ok. Prices are pretty high. I go sometimes for the convenience of it, as it's close to home. I almost always regret it. There is usually an older woman "working" in the garden section (I use the term working quite loosely)... she pays zero attention to what's going on around her. She putters about doing whatever it is she does to pass the time, but if you need help, don't expect to be able to ever get her attention. You'll have to go inside to check out. Inside you can expect exactly one person to be working the registers, and they'll be busy chatting with other employees. I miss the old OSH. I miss it a lot. read more

I can't say enough good things about Osh! It's one of those rare stores where you can still find actual help -- and not just help, but knowledgeable and friendly people who really know their stuff. Every time I've come here, there's always someone ready to answer questions and guide me to exactly what I need. It's such a relief compared to places like Home Depot, where it feels like you're on your own trying to figure everything out. At Osh, the staff takes the time to make sure you leave with the right tools, materials, and advice for the job. We're so lucky to still have one of these stores in our neighborhood. Outdoor Supply Hardware (formerly known as Orchard Supply Hardware or OSH) was offering double points this weekend if you joined their Club OSH. Additionally, there was a $5 off coupon. Since the flyer advertised 4 inch herbs on sale for $3.49 each and I'm late to the party in getting my garden ready, it was time to pay them a visit. Because of COVID, I hadn't visited a nursery in a while so it was nice to browse the garden section. For my herbs/vegetables, I picked up some Japanese cucumbers, Italian parsley, and Thai basil for my pho. Because I like sun gold tomatoes and arugula, I was hoping for some 4 inch pots, but they were not to be found in any size. For my fruit trees, I picked up a bag of chicken manure. Walking the store was pleasant because the store was clean, esthetically staged, and there weren't the normal Saturday crowds that you'd expect. Other than not being able to find some of my favorite vegetables, my visit was pleasant. read more

First of all, I love OSH. I'm ecstatic that they're back―but they seriously need to get their shit together when it comes to customer service. I arrived on a Thursday looking to make a large order purchase on some hardware that they only keep a small supply of on hand. I talked to the gentleman (Thomas) at the customer service station and he said they could do it but that there is a minimum and he'd need the manager to tell him what it was. Unfortunately the manager was not there(?) at the time so I gave him my business card and he said he'd find out and call me right away. Friday no call. Sat no call. Sun no call. Finally I called up on a Monday and asked to speak to a manager (don't recall his name) and asked him about making the order and (of course) he didn't know what the minimum was either and he took the part #, my name and phone number and said he'd call me back "right away." Guess what? No call and its been almost one week. I used to place a large order for this part w/ the OG OSH all the time and never had an issue. This new, "improved" OSH seems to not want to take my money. So while this OSH walks like a duck and talks like a duck, I think it's really just a turkey. read more

My GPS brought me right in front of the Michael's store when I inputted the address for this location. The actual store is behind Michael's so you must go around the block and you will find the store. I walked in and received no greeting. I went straight to the plant section and found the indoor plants outside. The inventory of indoor plants was limited. The shelves were bare. Plenty of outdoor plants but the selection is a lot smaller than other locations. Yellow cones were placed in corners where the aisles were wet. Plenty of pots and planters in stock. The store is clean and organized. Plenty of products for all home improvement projects. I did not find any indoor plants I wanted to purchase and headed out until I saw the locked case of spray paint. There was a lady working on organizing the spray paints and I asked for her help and recommendation on spray paint for a specific project. She offered recommendations and alternatives on different spray paints. She was really informed and provided me with a lot of information to make the best choice to purchase. I ended up picking two and headed up to the cashier to pay. The customer service at the front desk was so DRY! The cashier and the employees around him were distracted and lacked any welcoming vibe as I completed my transaction. I had to ask the employee to enter my rewards information since he did not make the attempt to request it. Customer service needs to improve at this location (greeting customers, attentive employees, more inventory on popular plants). I do not plan to return to this location in the future. read more

I also told her some of the tactics that a new handyman was using, and she cautioned me on some red flags that she was hearing. I am so grateful. I loved OSH when it was around so I was excited to see this newer version of it open up again. I love the feeling of the smaller hardware store, it's more personal and it makes it easy to get in and out! First off, the staffer that answered the phone was sloppy and rude - had me on hold for ten minutes, unsuccessfully transfered to the correct department, re-answered, then hung up on me. When I finally got the right person, he was equally incompetent. I just wanted someone to check stock on a high-visibility, easy to find item. Nope! Worthless. I went to this OSH on Sunday to buy paint. get some paint sample to paint the interior of my house. We wanted Benjamin Moore paint and luckily OSH sold this type of paint. They paged someone to come help. After 5-10 minutes no one came. so we left. Went to Ace Hardware in Almaden and they were able help us with the samples right away. Decided on the paint color but Ace didn't have it in our sheen, went back to OSH yesterday to give them another chance. This time prepared to buy 10 gallons of different paint for the house. The lady at the register saw me standing there asked if I needed help I said yes, I was there to purchase paint, she paged "Rob" to come up to the paint department to help. 5-10 minutes went by, no one. She paged again for anyone to come to paint, customer is waiting. 5-10 minutes go by and no one. Of course I left and drove to South Bay Paint, where they helped me right away. This was a+$500 dollar paint order that OSH lost because of poor customer service, plus any other hardware needs because I will not be going back there. read more

When I go to Home Depot - I can wander around for hours without an employee to assist. My go to is now Outdoor Supply Hardware. Every time I am in the store, at least one employee asks if I need help, which I usually always to. I needed some specialty hardware items and the employee who asked was not familiar with that area. He called over John who is the go to man for hardware. He found everything I needed and stayed with me until I had all the supplies needed for my project. Was devastated when Orchard Supply Hardware shut their doors...months wondering what would come into this spot...and a new OSH? So confusing...but glad they were able to hire some past OG OSH employees. With shelter in place and spring here, we came to grab some veggie plants for the garden. Most veggies we wanted were there, and the staff was helpful, though it was really hard to keep the 6 foot social distance at times. I do feel I've seen better quality veggie plants elsewhere, but hoping these do well in the next coming months. Prices are very fair and store is really organized. read more

Don't bother calling on the phone. If you actually get a real person they will not know the answer to your question. In the store it was very difficult to find an employee who knew where to find a particular item. I purchased some general painting supplies and was surprised at the high cost. I bought them and at home checked the cost at Ace and Home Depot. I had paid 30% more at Outdoor Supply than either of the other stores so I came back to return them. The woman at the register for returns accepted the returns but when I tried to tell her about the unreasonably high prices, she told me to stop talking as she was not interested in hearing the reason I was returning the items. read more

Always had a great experience here. Today was different. As I couldn't find anyone one the floor to help me, I asked the cashier if someone could help me lift something into my cart. I wanted to purchase a patio umbrella stand, which was almost 47 lbs. well, he never called anyone, but i found someone coming from the nursery that I asked for help. Hesitantly, he asked me what i needed..i just said i need help putting this in my card. he did what i asked, but when i wen to pay for it, the same cashier said well, let me know if you need help and i'll try to call someone..... What happened to customer service? This is why i went there, to avoid the big stores like lowes and home depot...but really? i'm a 61 year old woman that needed help and really had a hard time getting that from this store...not sure if I will go back read more

So happy when they opened this. I remember I was so sad when Orchard Supply and Hardware went out of business, since it was the top workshop store to get supplies for home projects. And when a higher up of the company sold OSH and just adjusted the name a bit, but same branding and same layout I was ecstatic. This place has 99% of whatever it is I may need. And the workers here are way nicer and more helpful then workers you find at Home Depot or Lowe's. Honestly, Home Depot employees don't give a **** about any customer that needs help or has a legitimate question. So, it's a breath of fresh air to be able to ask a question at OSH and get some help from a staff member who will be knowledgeable in that area. And if they don't have the answer for you, they will find the staff member that does! read more

I am so happy to see a version of the Orchard Supply Hardware live on in Outdoor Supply Hardware! It is the perfect sized hardware store and has all the wonderful basics and then some, without the lost-in-the-big-hardware-store feel. We've come here for gardening supplies (plants, soil, mulch, tools), hardware for the home, and the occasional tool. They have had everything we've needed so far. And they also carry Makita! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and you can easily locate someone to help! Very grateful to have one near us! read more

Michelle Hargraves, Manager at Outdoor Supply Hardware in Sunnyvale, was very helpful. Outdoor Supply Hardware is the only hardware store I have been to in the south bay that sells screens by the foot, rather than by the package. By the package the customer must buy alot of screen - for about $18. This way I only paid about $5. Michelle also was so kind and gracious in cutting the screen to the size I needed to repair a vent.
