Grilled Chicken on the Barbie.

The staff is great and the service is excellent. We waited only a few minutes for a table and received plenty of refills. They were shorthanded but one could never tell. The whole team worked together seamlessly. Thank you!!!

Kids meal....5 ounce sirloin and broccoli.

I typically don't like chain restaurants but I am not going to let a perfectly good gift card go to waste. My sister and I just did curbside pickup and did not actually go into the restaurant. We ordered 2 kids sirloins with broccoli and 2 loaded baked potatoes. 1st I want to shout out Cameron. She answered the phone, took our order and brought our order to the car. She was excellent! Efficient, funny, friendly and knowledgeable. I even changed the order on her on the phone and she went with it. She was great!! We got the food home and devoured it. It was packaged nicely and still hot. The broccoli was perfectly cooked. The steak was a bit overdone but that is okay since it's the kids portion it's suppose to be well done. We asked for medium. It was only 5 ounces but with the broccoli and baked potato and bread it was the perfect amount of food. That bread......delicious!!! We were very happy with the whole experience.

Salad...without silverware...

As a chain, this is normally a decent restaurant to take family and friends to. However, on this particular visit, anything and everything went downhill quickly. Oh, where to start? Our server... not sure what his name is, black haired lanky guy, anyway is not the sharpest tool in the shed. I ask what seasonal Sam Adams he has and I get a blank stare...uh, oh, not looking good... Takes him twenty minutes just to get our drinks and then maybe another thirty to order actual dinner. When our food finally arrived, it came all at once. Like soups, salads and entrees crowding the entire table. No elbow room. We had to correct our waiter on one order because we got a salad instead of soup. Oh, and did I mention we have no utensils to eat anything with? Takes about another twenty minutes for utensils and by this time, we are out of drinks. Long story short? Not the greatest experience.

Quick dinner as this is one of my boyfriend's favorite places because steak! Friday night during dinner time and it was not too busy. We were seated immediately and our waiter came a few moments later. We ordered from the restaurant week menu (3 courses for $35) and I just ordered from the regular menu. For appetizers, blooming petals and coconut shrimp. The blooming petals were great as expected but the coconut shrimp was sadly a miss, especially for the price of $5.99 (4 shrimp). Not much coconut taste at all, just a shrimp fried with too much batter. Main course for me was the chicken sandwich, which was great! I'm thankful I was able to get it without the buffalo sauce because the special ranch served with it was more than enough! It had a nice crisp to it and the buttery bread made it even more delightful. The fries were okay, but I liked them. The only downside to this trip was how long the wait was for the food (longer than expected) and that we didn't get our dessert for the 3 course meal! The kitchen was slower than expected that even our check made it to us before our dessert could even make it. Wasn't too excited for the single dessert option they had, but it would have been nice to get our money's worth. 3.5 rounded down to 3 stars.

I totally enjoy going out to eat. My husband brought us here. I'm not a steak eater. Just love smelling it as it cooks. So I ordered the chicken breast salad, which was amazing. Hubby insisted I try his steak. I did, I will admit it wasn't fatty, no bone. Yet delightfully cooked! If I make it back here, I will definitely order slices of steak on my salad!

Both the host and our server were very friendly. The restaurant itself is nice - it has a dark, masculine decor vibe. While I loved the types of chairs they use, I will say their tables for two are very small. They had this little side table type of thing and that was where I had to put my purse and some of the extra dishes to have room. We had the Wyagu Ribeye and the Picahna steak. Both were very good and cooked to perfection. I had the risotto which I didn't feel was cooked right; it had a gummy texture. The Cesar salad was one of the best I've had. I am not sure if their dressing is house made but it was very good and the addition of prosciutto was a nice touch! I also had a Paloma that was very fresh! Now this is supposed to be a steak house and cantina. The decor did give traditional cantina vibes, but the menu did not offer many traditional cantina type foods. If you are looking for cantina style dishes, you may find yourself disappointed. We did do the guacamole though, and it was just OK I'd say. Would I come back? For the steak and salad yes. Otherwise it was a little underwhelming to the price!

Cobalt Grille was next--you guessed it, they were closed too. We drove around and stumbled upon Gaston's. Not being able to eat at those other restaurants was the BEST thing that could have happened to us that day! The ambiance and the gentle vibe you get when you walk in this place is palpable. And the food lives up to the ambiance too. My party haslamb chops, cowboy steak, asparagus and a myriad of sides that came with these meals. I heard lots of "oohs" and "this is delicious" from my family. Unfortunately, I am a vegan and the choices were virtually nonexistent for me--but in Gaston's defense, they are an Italian steakhouse (they never said they catered to vegans). This evening was for the birthday girl--and she loved lamb chops. Simply put, this restaurant exceeded her expectations.

We were greeted immediately, seated right away, and our waitress was attentive and friendly throughout the evening. Before ordering, I actually spoke with the owner, Gaston, because I wanted his recommendation for the best steak on the menu. He confidently recommended the Cowboy Ribeye, assuring me that it was one of their signature steaks. I ordered it medium rare with a little char, exactly the way I enjoy it. I also asked if I could substitute the mashed potatoes and broccoli for another side since I don't eat either of those. I was told substitutions were not allowed. For a $60 steak, I found that disappointing. I wasn't asking for anything extravagant--just a different vegetable or a simple side salad. When my steak arrived, it was much smaller than I expected for the price and didn't resemble the Cowboy Ribeye I was anticipating. It was cooked slightly over medium rare, and while it wasn't terrible, the flavor was only average and had a slightly off taste, almost as if the broiler hadn't been cleaned recently. To make matters worse, the mashed potatoes and broccoli I had specifically asked to leave off the plate were served anyway. To be fair, the service was excellent. Our waitress handled everything professionally and even apologized for the sides, explaining the kitchen had plated them before she could stop it. The chicken scallopini ordered by someone else in our party was very good, and the other chicken entrées were also enjoyed. Unfortunately, I came for the steak, and that's where the experience fell well short of expectations. At this price point, I expected a high-quality cut of beef, some flexibility with side dishes, and an overall experience that matched the cost. Instead, it felt like every effort was made to minimize portions and avoid accommodating a simple request. I always try to support local restaurants, and I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews. But when you're paying premium prices, the food should reflect it. Based on my experience, I can't recommend the steaks here.

The ambiance was nice, the open kitchen with the wood fire hearth right at the entrance added a warm cozy feel from the onset. The restaurant was warmly lit but not dark. We were seated immediately in the far left dining area in an elevated booth. After reviewing the menu we settled on the fried deviled eggs and wood fire oysters for starters and the Vincent Vega pizza for dinner. Fried deviled eggs was a first for us and it was so good! The egg white was breaded very lightly and fried and the egg yolk was piped on top with a piece of smoky delicious bacon goodness. It had a nice smoky, bacon-y taste and we devoured them. I only wish you got more than 2 pieces. I think 4 pieces would be better for the price considering it's essentially one egg but I'm not complaining. The wood fire oysters was another hit for us, the serving came with 6 half shell oysters topped with breadcrumbs (light), swimming in butter and fire roasted. I think we ate these even faster than the deviled eggs lol! Would definitely get these again. The pizza also did not disappoint. If you like bacon, mushrooms and creamy Boursin cheese, you'll love this pizza. We added crushed red pepper flakes which added a nice kick. The crust is the star of the show; thin, crispy but still has body and slightly chewy. Yum! That wood fire hearth definitely makes a difference. Overall we had a great experience and will definitely be back! The staff were also very nice and friendly.

For entrees I got the lamb chops with risotto and she crab soup. The lamb was very tender but the flavor was lacking. It was also luke warm. The she crab soup was good but too salty. The owner also acknowledged that as well. The risotto was okay. Nothing special. My husband got the grilled bronzino and broccolini. I tried some and I liked the taste but he said it could have used more flavor. Broccolini was steamed and I wish they had grilled it instead. The bread pudding was the star of the entire meal. It was made of donuts. It was moist, sweet, and delicious. Drinks: We got a bottle of champagne and two cocktails. Drinks were all very good Service: This is probably why I'm giving them 4 stars instead of 3. The service was very good. First, they called me prior to my reservation and asked if they could pre-chill any wine or champagne for my husband's birthday and I was very appreciative of that. For drinks, I kept it simple with a tequila sunset and substituted pineapple juice for orange juice a good drink! Now for the meals. I ordered the lamb chops with mashed potatoes and green beans. I hate to even say this because I had such high hopes, but the lamb chops lacked seasoning for me. I ordered them medium, but they were definitely more medium rare. I love a medium rare ribeye, but not so much with lamb chops. The mashed potatoes and green beans were decent, but overall needed a little more flavor. My husband had the Butcher's Burger with wedges. He said it was a solid burger, slightly overcooked, but still good overall. He did enjoy the different flavor the pork belly added. My daughter ordered the Pasta Pescatore and said it was good, but not necessarily an "oh my goodness, I have to come back for this" type of dish. Overall, because so many people told me I would LOVE The Butcher's Son, I think my expectations were extremely high. There are sooooo many unique things that I can't wait to purchase from a location closer to us when it opens; traveling with glass didn't seem too smart. Our server was great and I wish I knew her name to shout her out. Ask to sample any wine you're curious about. And let me say... the sampling pours are more than just a sip. I was astonished! I chose the red flight as rendered. Everything was good. I'm not a fan of Spanish reds and should have substituted that one. Next time! I already knew before arriving (because I look at menus ahead of time) that I was getting the scallop and shrimp risotto, especially after I learned I could have it without the disgusting peas and asparagus (but with extra spinach.... P.S: The server and host were attentive and nice, so the low rating is entirely for the food. My bf and I ordered a truffle fries to share, I ordered the Braveheart Ribeye with broccolini and risotto(forgot what flavor but it was cooked in a cream sauce), and my bf ordered the Ribeye Lasagna. The truffle fries: the fries tasted fresh but they looked like the b-dub fries. Comes with ketchup, which I was hoping for some sort of aioli for an upscale chophouse. The Braveheart Ribeye: The temperature was what I asked for(medium rare), but the char is straight up crispy brunt and bitter as if I'm eating charcoal pieces. I also ordered a demi glaze on the side, and that tasted and looked like some McCormick sauce. No demi-glaze flavor and the color is transparent like those powdered gravy packets. The broccolini was bitter. They were tucked under the steak so maybe the brunt from the steak went onto the broccolini... The risotto was creamy but they were undercooked cuz they were still hard. My bf said his Ribeye Lasagna just tasted like a normal lasagna like he couldn't tell the difference of normal beef and the "ribeye meat" that they used, but it was a big size and the sauce was pretty good so he thinks it's worth the money. The creme brulee... I have this tradition with my bf which we will order a creme brulee(if the restaurant provides) during our first visit. I'm no Michelin creme brulee reviewer, but I'd say I tried and made enough creme brulee to identify what a standard and good creme brulee is, and unfortunately this just ain't one. The flame on top is a cool gimmick but it melts the supposedly crispy top to a little too soft (we waited for about 5 mins after the flame was gone before eating it). The texture of the creme was NOT creme brulee but more like flan, when the creme should've been more of a custard/solid but creamy like texture. We were told their creme brulee has a little orangey-taste to it, but the orangey taste just totally covers the flavor of creme brulee. All we could taste was a bitter orange flan. Although my bf likes his lasagna, we both agreed that for this price we would've expected better tasting food. I have no doubt that the ingredients they used were high quality, but this is just not gonna go nowhere when you don't have the right chef to cook them.
