We travel a lot and in years past have noticed some outback's going down hill but after a long day and having had Texas Road House and Long Horn both nearby we decided on our last night to hit up Outback. The waitress Renita (I believe was her name) was incredible! Actually more than that, she was the best waitress we have seen in many many years. She picked up on things that may not be just right and went back to get them fixed before we even noticed. She noticed our prime rib was missing the aujus was missing from my prime rib that I didn't even notice. She immediately said let me get that fixed. As for the food, again I was surprised. One of the best prime ribs we have had eating out in a very long time, especially from a chain. It was thick, cooked perfectly, and well seasoned. When we are in the Tupelo area this will be our new steak house as it blows away the other two! We left her a generous tip and took the time to speak to the owner of the store about her incredible service. If you are going to eat there I would suggest requesting her. Close to the hotel and I'm in Tupelo monthly and don't typically like chain restaurants. Outback has meals to go and I don't eat meat, so they do have menu items that are tasty and meet my needs. Their grilled salmon is seasoned well, with a side of vegetables and a salad is delicious. Their salads with grilled salmon is good and they typically have a season fresh catch. Tupelo , MS Outback- Server Amera was good other than that no. We got there , sat down and within 2 minutes she got our drink order. We got a blooming onion , it was ok but SUPER greasy. You have to wipe your hands every time you picked a piece of it up. Our waiter was nice as hell, man. We had a good time. I'm torn on outback's food. Just don't feel like there are enough options for people who don't want to eat meat, which is fine, but they have this "c'mon in, bring all your friends, even the gay ones *sigh*" type marketing approach so I feel like maybe a portobello burger or something wouldn't be a lot to ask, you know, just to make the herbivores feel like we aren't just dead weight in the room. But the restaurant choices in the area are pretty slim. We had the blooming onion which a favorite among patrons, I personally don't care for it. I had a grilled chicken salad, it had too much cheese. The vegetables were fresh and the portion was large. The service was outstanding! I understand why this Outback only has a 3.5 star review. We're traveling through and stopped. Got seated immediately but everything else was extremely slow. We ordered soup/salad and chicken cassideas. Food was ok. Others were seated long after us, got their steaks, ate and were leaving when I finally asked our waiter about our food. Our waiter never took dirty dishes from the table. Even the bread board after he brought a second bread board. I watched in amazement when the tables next to us were cleaned and the crumbs, which included lettuce, were wiped to the floor. Not to be picked up. Me and my family went out to eat here a few days ago. i called ahead and wanted to see if they could put us on a wait before we got there so we didn't have to wait that long. the lady on the phone was very rude and said they didn't do waits. it was a "first come first serve basis". i said okay. so we went anyway and when i got there and told the host there was 7 of us and we needed a table she said it was gonna be a 45 minute wait. i said okay that's fine, we'll wait.. while waiting in the car an hour went by so i went in to check on our table was ready and the host was again very rude and said we had to wait another 30 minutes for our table to even be ready. while seeing so many parties of 5 and 6 come in and out and be seated we still had to wait. i'm a server and i know sometimes your short staffed and maybe you can't get a party in as fast as you want but the way they handled it was very rude. after waiting an hour and 30 minutes for a table we had to split up but still got seated. we were okay with that. our server was amazing and the food was good. but the hosts were really rude. i probably won't be back because of that. read more
