Outback Steakhouse - Steakhouses Near Me - Poway, California

First time to Outback! Killian (like Jillian with a K) greeted at the door and made for a relaxed setting. Much needed after a long day of work. Nick and Randy were so helpful with the menu, Nick recommended the most delicious chopped salad and sides, while Randy rocked my Manhattan! Ribeye was cooked to perfection, exactly what I wanted. Ryan checked in on me shortly after getting my food and was just the cherry to a great experience. Super personable and friendly while attending to a busy team throughout the meal. I'll definitely be back! read more

FANTASTIC! We came in for dinner and were reminded how great Outback is! We had the Victoria filet and 2 ribeyes. Everything was delicious. The medium cook was perfect and the seasoning was spot on. Kenny was our server and was absolutely outstanding. He knew exactly what we needed before we did! Their wine prices are also very reasonable. I highly recommend stopping into Outback Poway! The restaurant is super clean and welcoming. It's definitely a kid friendly option! read more

Steak was so fatty, my father got his wine served to him with lipstick on glass, and they didn't have any sharks from the sharky temple, the service was really attentive which was a plus, and finally the ambiance was nice, but overall it wasn't all that. read more

5 of us had lunch here and we all had the 5 oz sirloin lunch special. The meat was about 3 oz the most . It was like a toddler size lunch. I ordered one to go for my daughter. Her meat was a tiny bit bigger then ours. Guess what I measured it and it was less then 4 oz. Shame on you!!! Also we were waiting for 15 minutes to order food and another 30 for the food to come out. The sirloin was bloody and we ordered medium well. We won't be back! read more

My husband & I had our anniversary dinner at Outback Poway 8/22/25. The service was great by a young lady, & don't recall her name. The house salads & 2 loaves of bread with butter were delicious and our 2nd sides which were baked potatoes with everything on it were small but good. I ordered the filet mignon and lobster tail. The filet mignon was very good but I was so disappointed with the tiny lobster tail. My husband could have eaten it in one bite but I cut it up in 6 tiny bites. Would not recommend that at all. My husband had the largest prime rib. He was so disappointed. It had a big fatty part which he didn't mind that as much as the quality of the piece of prime rib. It was the worse he had ever had, he said, and we have had many prime ribs there in years back and have served prime ribs on Christmas Day at our home. It was cooked medium which came out fine but the quality of the meat was awful according to him. He made a joke and said maybe it came from a horse. Again our service was excellent. I am sorry I don't remember the female server's name. Unfortunately we won't be coming back since prime rib is what my husband always orders. read more

I was smelling the Bloomin' Onion during my yoga class, took a shower and walked over. Had to have some!! A sweet girl helped me- blonde hair and name started with a K (?). It was a unique name, I should have written it down. Anyways.... As I was alone, I think she wanted to make sure I was ok ..lol. I just needed a guilty pleasure- the Bloomin' Onion! read more

Came in for lunch between appointments. Had plenty of time. No rush. Entered the handsome facility at noon and was stuck by how empty it was. There are lots of businesses and professional buildings nearby. The lack of customers was a bad omen. First the pluses: clean, attractive well designed restaurant. Impressive well stocked bar that was completely empty. Restroom was classy and immaculate. Waiter was quick to arrive. I ordered a 5oz lunch special sirloin with a loaded baked potato for about $14. Medium rare. Came out as ordered. The steak was tough. Too much grizzle. Patrons visit a steakhouse looking forward to a good steak. Economize anywhere you want, but don't serve so so meat quality. Five ounces is the smallest portion possible. Please improve your quality control. Deliver as ordered without drenching the meat in salt. Give value. I realize that these are trying times for the restaurant business, however this lunch special failed in terms of quality and value. Side salad with blue cheese dressing was good. Ice tea was unsweetened, but was delivered with sweetener, but no spoon to stir it in. Tea quality was very good. Lots of good here, but the manager was making a few critical errors. Bartender was dressed like a homeless person. Server was untrained. The bill came with suggested tips calculated on a total that included the sales tax. I found this to be cheesy and unprofessional. It was obvious that poor leadership and decision making were the reasons for the poor attendance. Sorry, but I doubt I'll be back. read more

I can't understand how this place has 3 stars. I would wager that if you blindfolded yourself and took a bite of the steak with shrimp, it would hold up to any high end steakhouse. I think back to the Folger's challenge. This plays punches much higher than its pricing and was delicious. Everything was delicious and came out as ordered. I highly recommend and will definitely be back. read more

We stopped in for dinner on a We night and had a great visit. There was no wait to be seated & the Hostess showed us right to our table. She brought out a baby booster for our grand baby and was very sweet. Our server tonight was Kenny and he is hands down the best at this location! He is super attentive and friendly without being overbearing. He came right out to greet us, answered all of our questions about the menu and accommodated all dietary requests without any issues. He checked on us throughout the meal and made us feel comfortable and appreciated. Sit in Kenny's section when you stop in! The food is delicious! Best wings ever, don't sleep on these as an appetizer! Our steak was cooked perfectly and the pork chop and ribs were so good. We look forward to stopping in again very soon! read more

"Someone" lost my family's order. We waited almost an hour. the table next to us arrived after us, ordered, got their food, and finished while we had nothing. The server was nowhere to be found. I finally had to go up to the manager to ask where our food was and she came back and said "the kitchen lost the ticket". We walked out then and there. read more

Visited on Monday, March, 31, 2025, at ~5:30PM. Sat down quickly by host, then preceded to sit and wait without menus. Finally had to reach out and ask our server for menus (which were given to us in a rude manner as well), then waited for the server to come by and take our our order. No drinks, no bread, nothing. After 12+ mins of sitting at our empty table, we decided to leave and eat elsewhere. This is the second time we've had this specific server and it's the same exact experience. Waiting around for service that never comes. Really a bummer because we love this location and our usual server is pretty great (Our usual server is an older gentleman at the bar). Also worth noting the restaurant was not busy whatsoever. Our previous visit was a little busier than usual, so will give some grace there. But even then, our table and the one next to us was completely ignored by our waitress the entire night. I think the only time we saw her was when she took our order down. Not sure if we will be returning. read more

I ordered a steak medium well and it came out like a hockey puck. I sent it back. The replacement was medium rare with two strings of something like tendons. The chef came out and apologized, which was nice. That is something that he should do. I didn't see the manager at all. I did get my meal comped, but just not a very good experience at all. read more

First time we have been here in years. We had a gift card and also signed up on Dine Perks which gave a $10 credit towards a Blooming Onion. Service is very good with several people looking after us. The Blooming Onion is very salty (and strangely spicy). We couldn't finish it but needed refills of our drinks while eating it. We ordered a burger (no mustard, pickles and tomato on the side), meatloaf with broccoli and prime rib outback style with mashed potatoes and brocolli. The meatloaf also came with clam chowder. The burger came with mustard that we specifically asked not to have. Fortunately there wasn't much, so the ketchup overpowered it. The fries are great and the pickles were seemed house made. The meatloaf was a bit salty but had a nice flavor and texture. The clam chowder was very good except not hot at all. Broccoli was tasty and buttery but also salty. The prime rib was perfectly cooked but a little tougher than I expected. Mashed potatoes were pasty and I didn't finish them. Anyways, the price was right especially with the gift card, the service was good but the food was sadly too salty. read more

We got outback style prime rib yesterday for dinner. It's James's must-have item in outback. This item is not listed on their website so you need to call the restaurant to order this. We got steamed veggies and sweet potato as our sides. We also got the maximum amount of bread sticks because outback bread sticks are YUM with that whipped butter We ordered our prime ribs medium rare and I was a little concerned that it won't come out right (You now when your are eating in the restaurant you can ask them to re-make it if it's overcooked. But you can't do that for to-go). Anyways,my concern was not necessary because both of our prime ribs were cooked perfectly at medium rare. Outback you did it again! read more

This review is for takeout only, I have never actually stepped foot in this location before so not sure how the service is. That being said I'm very very surprised about the food, I haven't been to an outback in ages, like many many years. Why? Because once you've had better steakhouses you will know why, this was our last resort open late. We were hungry and every place we pulled into were closed, so we said hey why not, it's going to probably be horrible but let's try. I didn't absolutely hate the food but it exceeded my expectations for take out at outback, all the food we got was warm and yummy, my only few complaints are the steak had no flavor, the Mac n cheese had no cheese and the fries were old and soggy. read more

The best part of this dining experience was the Server who gave incredible service. Otherwise, Prices are high; quality is poor, very poor. For example, Prime Rib was tough; shrimps were small. Nothing like in the past. Will not return to an Outback based on this experience. read more

Burgers were terrible and overpriced. 7 of us visited on Friday. Two of us were in the mood for burgers. Ok, we know that it is not their specialty, however, they are trying to make you think that by the picture in the menu. An $18 burger ($15 + $3 cheese), it better be half way decent. They know what a good burger is based on their menu picture. Both of our burgers were missing tomatoes. Instead they were swimming in yellow mustard. If they were out of tomatos, Target grocery is next door. A $21 burger better be perfect and not missing 1/4 of the toppings. Even ignoring those issues, it was very underwhelming. I wish I would have taken a picture but I didn't want my guests seeing it. Fries were not good. They were not cooked consistently. Some were under cooked and just not good. They didn't even look correctly cooked so there is zero excuse. When paying over $21 with tip for a burger, without drink, I would expect a little effort. Not that it really matters but my bill was $280 BEFORE tip. Not planning on doing that again. read more

Such awful management. 1 hr to get the food and then it isn't what i ordered. Kicker was the manager tried to tell me it was the correct cut of meat and wouldn't credit me for it. So tough. The only reason this place is getting one star is because the server staff members are so nice and we've known them for over ten years. This review is purely based on the quality and price of the food we ordered, and not server staff or bartenders - who are great. You can tell they're embarrassed by what's coming g out of the kitchen. First, it took 30 minutes from the time of ordering to receiving the food on a very slow night. That's just too long for a restaurant that was at 30% capacity. When it arrived, EVERYTHING was cold. The butter wouldn't melt on the steak or mashed potatoes and the vegetables were burnt, but also cold. We asked politely to have the dinners warmed up, and they came back in a few minutes after obviously having been microwaved and were now tough and overcooked, instead of being put in the grill again. Obviously, the kitchen staff doesn't care because there was no excuse as the place was near empty. Also, they've significantly shrunk the size of all food items and the quality was terrible. The steaks were loaded with fat and grizzle and the meat was flavorless and tough to chew. All in all ZERO VALUE for the $100 they gouged us for this horrible food. We won't be coming back again, and it's a shame as this was a family favorite for over 15 years. I would recommend you buy a nice steak at the grocery store and save yourself a miserable food experience. read more

No Happy Hour here at all. Just called. That's disappointing. I guess they're busy enough before 7 pm?

The wait time was reasonable. The staff attentive. The fillet was perfect, the accompanying mashed potato was delicious. The rack of ribs were soft and the sauce better than Mike's BBQ in my opinion, quite tangy. The chicken and shrimp pasta was good although the breast meat was a little tough/dry. That bit could be improved. Overall, we had a great dinner. read more

I haven't been to an Outback for probably 22+ years, but went Christmas light watching and the neighborhood happened to have an Outback near by, so we decided to go in for some a steak to see if it measured up to past experiences... This place has very bad reviews, and I've graduated to being a restaurant and steak snob (sorry...) , but got to say the service, food and overall experience was great! I'd go back in a second! Had the filet, blooming onion, caesar salad with a fosters. The lived ones I was with had a great food and service experience as well..! read more

The experience at Outback off of Pomerado Rd can be pretty hit-and-miss. In giving the benefit of the doubt, they must be frequently understaffed. Every time I have visited, our order has at least 1 mistake (usually several) and the waitstaff seems to be either 1) running in circles and doesn't have time to stop by the table to be alerted to the issue or 2) is alerted to the order errors but then doesn't rectify the problem. The waitstaff is always pleasant, so I don't think it's a deliberate attempt to frustrate diners (hence the thought that they may be understaffed). The steaks are pretty good, but again, we consistently experience order problems, so someone at the table is eating something not-quite what they ordered. Would I eat here again? Yeah, if I'm wanting a reasonably-priced steak and willing to swallow some occasional frustration. Is this the best steak experience possible in the area? No, I can't say it is. TLDR: It's fine, especially if you're flexible. If you're a finicky diner or have high expectations to receive a 100% correct order, you may want to dine elsewhere. read more

Located in a plaza with Target, the location is great with ample parking. Seated during early dinner time pretty fast with a lot of other guests in the restaurant! The restaurant is pretty spacious inside, but the booths made me and my partner feel like it was only us hehe especially with the intentional and quick service we were given! Steak was good... amazingly juicy and and tender? No... but good for what it was! Forgot my partner's lobster tail and had do remind them.. for it to be almost the size of a large shrimp..but hey- it was good! Those blooming onions are pretty, but eat at your own risk for the saltiness factor! Overall, a good experience for a quick date night dinner in the area without spending too much on steak! read more

Decent food. The only reason I would come back is for the Free brown bread (sooo delicious) with butter and the Blooming Onion. A huge shoutout to the manager, Ryan, of the Poway store!!! Grubhub royally screwed up and delivered someone else's order. I called the store but it was not their problem to fix. Even still, I re-placed my order through the direct website and headed down to pick it up myself. Ryan himself brought out our food, apologized profusely for an error that wasn't theirs and took care of our family. He went WELL above and beyond and his customer service is unmatched. Most chain restaurants can be hit or miss based on the service or the food on a given night but this was a home run! Outback is definitely a favorite for most but we had never been to this location. We walked in and the place was very packed, but they sat us very quickly. The service was fast and they got us our couple drinks to start and we went with their recommendation of a blooming onion. That sauce with it was amazing! We moved onto the entrees, one Victoria filet and the other the Outback porterhouse. If you like a nice horseradish top to your steak definitely order some, it gives it a fantastic kick. The steaks were cooked perfect, and the baked potatoes were delicious (especially fully loaded). After all that we were in a serious food coma. Perfect end to the evening a little cake they brought out for our celebration. Definitely recommend this place and will be coming back! Came to outback tonight for a blooming onion and wedge salad and it did not disappoint! We sat in the bar and there was plenty of seating. Their bread is so yummy and comes complementary. Our blooming onion was nice and crispy and comes with a horseradish sauce in the middle, the sauce is pretty good, however I prefer ranch! I got the Bleu cheese wedge and love it! It is a huge portion! We also tried the new Bleu cheese pecan chopped salad. This salad was on the smaller size, looked a little sad, and was way over dressed. Other than being too soggy the flavors were really good and loved the crunchy pecans. Our server was the bartender and he was really nice and very attentive! read more

So I was craving steak and I had a $25 gift card for this restaurant which probably helped me decide where I was eating my steak tonight. It wasn't very crowded around 6:30 which was good. I took my son as a reward for passing his driver's test and getting his license. We had a lovely server by the name of Sarah who is very attentive and sweet. I had the 18 Oz Ribeye bone out. I told you I was hungry. I got the two veggie sides steamed broccoli and Caesar salad. My steak was juicy season perfectly and ordered the way I like it medium. My son got the 12 oz bone out ribeye steak. He loved the flavor but I keep telling him when you order medium rare sometimes it's not as tender. And there was a ton of fries and mac and cheese all on his side of the table!. Not bad. read more

I'm not sure what's going on with Outback but the service has declined dramatically at both the Poway and El Cajon, CA locations! I've visited both restaurants recently and in each case had to wait at least 15 minutes to be seated in a restaurant that had maybe 3 other tables sat at the time. The places were dead. At Poway there wasn't even a host! Just stood there waiting for someone to emerge from the kitchen. Also at both locations, our first drink order didn't even make it to the table until more than 30 minutes after our arrival. On to the food. It seems like the only thing decent here any more are the proteins. Steaks, etc I've always enjoyed. I tried the new lobster mac & cheese and it was served nearly room temperature and without the crunchy, golden topping. At El Cajon I ordered the steakhouse mac & cheese and it came out stone cold! My broccoli at both locations have consistently been overcooked and tasted like some kind of funk. I don't know how else to describe it. I have to say, with the relatively high prices being charged for meals here, I cannot justify continuing to patronize Outback. It is just not at all worth the serious shortcomings in service and food quality I have recently experienced. read more
