While I do believe Outback has gotten outrageously overpriced, I still enjoy the food when I visit. We decided to stop by for an early dinner with a party of 4. The host and hostess, two teenagers giggling and making nonsensical hand signs at each other, were unhelpful and honestly pretty rude. While we were waiting (in a mostly empty restaurant), a woman came up to buy a gift card for her daughter. The boy couldn't fathom what a gift card was or why someone would want to buy one, nor could the girl standing with him. They eventually had to bring out the manager for this poor woman and she promptly got her gift card and left. When we were seated, I was presently surprised at the service! I didn't expect much based on the hostess stand encounter but our waiter was very enthusiastic and checked on us frequently. Our drinks were always full and we had what we wanted or needed promptly. We tried their appetizer sampler with the new mozzarella sticks and it was a hit! Everything was hot and fresh. I was honestly very impressed with how good the mozz sticks were. The rest of our food followed suit! Chicken strips, pasta, a very well-cooked steak, and all of our sides were excellent. The complimentary bread was hot and fresh as well! Our only complaint about the food is that the lobster was a little fishy-tasting, which is unusual for Outback. I do think the prices could stand to be lower or they could implement some more deals. We came in after driving for 4 hours. I threw away some trash (there were no garbage cans outside) and went to the men's room. When we sat down, the owner came to our table and asked if I used his garbage can. I said yes. He said, because there was an empty wine bottle, he wasn't serving us. Then I am going to tell you that when I left, I remembered why I haven't been there in a long time. I ordered lobster. You get two lobster tails for $37.79. They were not cleaned very well, and they were cold! The salad was good. My baked potato was cold I sent it back. Second one was cold also. Not happy! I paid $17.98 for two kids chicken tenders meals. The fries were not hot. They looked horrible and the chicken was dry. We ordered a blooming onion, which was greasy! The bread was good. My granddaughter ordered grilled shrimp, which was $27.98. This meal cost me $119.54, including tax. This is ridiculous. I won't be back. Now I see why Texas Roadhouse is running them out of town! My experience at this outback was quite short of amazing. There was less people in the building than there are in a carton of eggs. However, my food arrived so late you would think there's a party of 75 in the back. When our party of 4 arrived we not offered a coat check as others were. We had to ask for salt and pepper, nothing came out. Then we noticed other waiters were offering grinder salt and pepper shakers to their customers but we were not! And we didn't have any one ask us if we wanted dessert. My wife and I were at the Joplin Outback recently. The service was impeccable. I ordered a filet and it was cooked correctly and very good. The fries are EXCELLENT. My wife ordered a sirloin and the bold flavor from the glaze didn't sit well with some recent issues she'd been having with her throat and acid reflux. The manager came out and offered to replace it for her even though nothing was wrong with the steak. Both he and the server were very gracious and we'll be back. To heck with those other steak houses. Outback is now our "go-to" restaurant for steak. read more

First of all ordered my prime rib medium rare it came out rare wasn't even warm for the touch. Of course they took it off my bill and I ordered a new steak which of course I had to pay for plus the person that I was eating with had already eaten by the time I got the steak they didn't even offer me a discount just offered me a dessert I will never go back there. And I should have known that something horrible was going to happen to my food because the people that were sitting behind us their steak was not made to their liking either and they actually got their meal for free I should have gotten mine for free because there should be no mistake. They offered to take my prime rib back into the kitchen and sear it I said absolutely not I want a new steak. They just aren't what they used to be, the food is dialed in. We are disappointed every time we eat here. Their app rarely works (ok, never works on any of our phones), they never get our order right when we call in for a take-out order, and the food is generally overcooked and dried out. Most steak houses can make a decent grilled salmon, for example, they deliver a hard leathery version more akin to jerky. There are a few things we used to like but we keep expecting them to be the way the chain was 5 or 10 years ago, It just isn't any more or maybe it's this location. My family visited Outback last night. The blooming onion appetizer had onion peel and uncooked breading in between the "blooms" which was not very tasty. My wife's coconut shrimp was good as well as the dipping sauce. My grandson loved his Joey Sirloin but the other two grandkids had their chicken strips. They were very minimal and over cooked. I would call them fried chicken jerky. I had the prime rib. The first bite was not pleasing at all. It was tough and room temperature. After I cut off the outer layer it was tender but was served at room temperature. I love a creamy horseradish sauce but what I got was just straight horseradish. The service was fine. We've eaten at Outback steakhouse for the last couple years here in Joplin Missouri. But because of the coronavirus it's been close for months. Then when we found out this month that they were opened we went out to eat there and again food was delicious no complaints whatsoever and the service was awesome. One of my overall favorite places in Joplin. They have been so consistent with their food and service for as long as I can remember! Obviously you can spend a decent amount of money, but you you get what you pay for! My favorite dish is the Ribeye (12oz) with a Sweet Potato! Absolutely amazing. If I am going for something a little more affordable and subtle, I usually go with a form of Ribeye Sandwich . I will usually sub a House Salad or French Onion Soup. Both the salad and soup are the best I've had around town, especially the soup!! In regards to drinks and appetizers, again they are at the top of my list! Their Bloomin Onion is awesome and their Margaritas and Beers are very refreshing! If I had one criticism, it would be the changes that they frequently make to their menu.
