While I do believe Outback has gotten outrageously overpriced, I still enjoy the food when I visit. We decided to stop by for an early dinner with a party of 4. The host and hostess, two teenagers giggling and making nonsensical hand signs at each other, were unhelpful and honestly pretty rude. While we were waiting (in a mostly empty restaurant), a woman came up to buy a gift card for her daughter. The boy couldn't fathom what a gift card was or why someone would want to buy one, nor could the girl standing with him. They eventually had to bring out the manager for this poor woman and she promptly got her gift card and left. When we were seated, I was presently surprised at the service! I didn't expect much based on the hostess stand encounter but our waiter was very enthusiastic and checked on us frequently. Our drinks were always full and we had what we wanted or needed promptly. We tried their appetizer sampler with the new mozzarella sticks and it was a hit! Everything was hot and fresh. I was honestly very impressed with how good the mozz sticks were. The rest of our food followed suit! Chicken strips, pasta, a very well-cooked steak, and all of our sides were excellent. The complimentary bread was hot and fresh as well! Our only complaint about the food is that the lobster was a little fishy-tasting, which is unusual for Outback. I do think the prices could stand to be lower or they could implement some more deals. Absolutely one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Immediately greeted by 2 unfriendly strange teenage girls staring down into giant iPads. The one on the left should be fired immediately for just the horrible way she dressed and talked in some ghetto gibberish that was so low we couldn't understand it anyway. Immediately wanted to walk out but we had a gift card so how bad could it be if you know you're getting a free meal? You want to know how bad it could be? Bad enough that it's not even worth it for free. I ordered an appetizer of kookaburra wings. It didn't come out until the entrees came out. And it wasn't kookaburra wings, it was just regular wings and a few of them had buffalo sauce on them. For entrees, I ordered the Ahi seared tuna and it came out tasting funny like mint or something off and served on a bed of Walmart bagged salad. Horrific. By this time, I was honestly ready to throw up just sitting there. The baked potato was just funny tasting. I don't know if I've ever had a baked potato that made me sick just trying to eat it and I got the seasoned rice and it was just slick and weird and didn't taste right. My wife got the Alice Chicken and 8 oz sirloin. The sirloin had tendons in it she couldn't cut through and by the time she ate half of it, she was done. I'm driving home with it right now sitting beside me and debating whether I should stop off at the dog pound to feed a starving animal before taking it home to try to reheat. Absolutely dreadful. Honestly, I would close this restaurant. That's how bad it was. I will say our waiter was really good and seemed like a very nice young man. Hopefully he can find a better place to work. Just looking around while trying to choke this food down, all I saw were other people just looking at their food and chewing and chewing and chewing. I'm sure that's all he sees everyday. The service was exceptional and everyone was so friendly! I left a very nice tip for my attentive server. But, the quality of Outback has deteriorated. This was the second Outback I visited where the steak was tough and hard to chew. The Aussie Fries were still the best, but the steak and asparagus were awful. Outback used to be my favorite steakhouse, but not anymore. The seasoning was still the same good taste, but the quality of the meat and vegetables is no longer suitable. Normally we have an excellent experience at the Joplin Outback. I tried to order the blackberry refresher but was told they were out of blackberries, so I got a water instead. I then ordered the prime rib with mashed potatoes and the seasonal veggie. When food should have been about ready, our waitress swung by to say the prime rib wasn't ready yet. The menu and the app said prime rib wasn't ready available all day on the weekend. Today is Sunday and we got there about 12:30. She asked if I wanted a ribeye instead and I said sure and asked for chimichuri. When my plate got there, it had a loaded baked potatoes on it & no chimichuri. It did have the au jus which should have come with the prime rib. I told the girl who delivered the food that I didn't order a loaded baked potato, I had ordered mashed potatoes (not loaded). The girl came back and brought the chimichuri with her and I was informed they were out of mashed potatoes & offered to get a different side. I said no. Then my steak was so tough I couldn't even cut it. It had no seasoning on top. My broccoli was at least okay. The manager came by to apologize for the prime rib and the mashed potatoes & I mentioned "and the blackberries" to which he said "oh, that's news to me." He said "can I offer you a dessert to make this right?" I said no & told him I wasn't paying for the loaded baked potato (I'm pretty sure loaded is considered a premium side with an upcharge). He ended up comping half my meal, which I didn't ask for. I just didn't want to pay the upcharge on a side I didn't order. If you have potatoes to bake, can you not peel and boil them to make mashed potatoes? That makes me wonder how their mashed potatoes come to them. Heck, Sam's is right next door and they probably carry Bob Evan's mashed in the refrigerator section! Second, my waitress kept telling me it wasn't her fault. I never raised my voice at anyone. I am not usually a complainer. Sister, don't tell me it's not your fault. I know you didn't personally run out of potatoes or not get there early enough to insure the prime rib is done by lunch, but don't pass the buck. I didn't say anything hateful to you at all. Also as a manager, shouldn't you know what is available and what you are out of and make your staff aware before shift starts? When we sat down, the owner came to our table and asked if I used his garbage can. I said yes. He said, because there was an empty wine bottle, he wasn't serving us. I just took my granddaughter and her two boys to Outback. Let me say first of all that the service from our server, Carter, was the best thing about the entire meal! Then I am going to tell you that when I left, I remembered why I haven't been there in a long time. I ordered lobster. You get two lobster tails for $37.79. They were not cleaned very well, and they were cold! The salad was good. My baked potato was cold I sent it back. Second one was cold also. Not happy! I paid $17.98 for two kids chicken tenders meals. The fries were not hot. They looked horrible and the chicken was dry. We ordered a blooming onion, which was greasy! The bread was good. My granddaughter ordered grilled shrimp, which was $27.98. This meal cost me $119.54, including tax. This is ridiculous. I won't be back. Now I see why Texas Roadhouse is running them out of town! When our party of 4 arrived we not offered a coat check as others were. We had to ask for salt and pepper, nothing came out. Then we noticed other waiters were offering grinder salt and pepper shakers to their customers but we were not! And we didn't have any one ask us if we wanted dessert. After spending close to $600 at least we could have been offered dessert. We realized after we were on our way home that we had no dessert. My wife and I were at the Joplin Outback recently. The service was impeccable. I ordered a filet and it was cooked correctly and very good. The fries are EXCELLENT. My wife ordered a sirloin and the bold flavor from the glaze didn't sit well with some recent issues she'd been having with her throat and acid reflux. The manager came out and offered to replace it for her even though nothing was wrong with the steak. Both he and the server were very gracious and we'll be back. To heck with those other steak houses. Outback is now our "go-to" restaurant for steak. read more

They just aren't what they used to be, the food is dialed in. We are disappointed every time we eat here. Their app rarely works (ok, never works on any of our phones), they never get our order right when we call in for a take-out order, and the food is generally overcooked and dried out. Most steak houses can make a decent grilled salmon, for example, they deliver a hard leathery version more akin to jerky. There are a few things we used to like but we keep expecting them to be the way the chain was 5 or 10 years ago, It just isn't any more or maybe it's this location. Of course they took it off my bill and I ordered a new steak which of course I had to pay for plus the person that I was eating with had already eaten by the time I got the steak they didn't even offer me a discount just offered me a dessert I will never go back there. My family visited Outback last night. The blooming onion appetizer had onion peel and uncooked breading in between the "blooms" which was not very tasty. My wife's coconut shrimp was good as well as the dipping sauce. My grandson loved his Joey Sirloin but the other two grandkids had their chicken strips. They were very minimal and over cooked. I would call them fried chicken jerky. I had the prime rib. The first bite was not pleasing at all. It was tough and room temperature. After I cut off the outer layer it was tender but was served at room temperature. I love a creamy horseradish sauce but what I got was just straight horseradish. The service was fine. This experience was disappointing for a $100 meal for two adults and three children. read more

We've eaten at Outback steakhouse for the last couple years here in Joplin Missouri. But because of the coronavirus it's been close for months. Then when we found out this month that they were opened we went out to eat there and again food was delicious no complaints whatsoever and the service was awesome.
