An ice cold Fosters, salad and an Outback burger after a long drive.
    Terry G.

I was spending the night at the Comfort Inn next door so I walked over to the Outback for dinner. I saw the mixed Yelp reviews before I made my decision but I didn't want to drive to find a place to eat. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door and seated immediately. The place was clean and about half full ( 0r half empty for you pessimists ) with patrons. My server was Brian and he delivered excellent service with my meal. I ordered an Outback burger, fries, house salad and a tall Fosters. I ordered my burger medium well but it was well done. The fries were ok and the house salad was just ok. The beer was good though. Brian provided good service but the food was very average. The next time I spend the night in Evansville I will go to HQ bbq or Texas Roadhouse which are both within walking distance of the hotel.

On top of the other things I recommended, I also recommend the onion petals rather than a blooming onion as an appetizer. It's less greasy and not as much. Plus they go great on a salad. They have one of the best side/house salads around. They have been doing a great job at distancing customers and keeping things clean during Covid.

Outback is if nothing else, always consistent. Consistently feeding me too much bread so I am full when the meal comes . I ate at outback when I lived in Missouri and now here in Wyoming. They always have decent food, I've never had a bad experience at any of them that I can remember. I get ribs at least once everywhere I go. They were good as usual. Wife had the ribeye, and it was cooked how she asked. All in all, can't go wrong with old faithful places like outback

I've never been to Outback and this was a pleasant surprise! Clarice was knowledgeable about the menu and was sure to check up on us. I ordered the bone in ribeye cooked medium but it was pretty rare. The vegetables on the side were perfectly cooked! I tried the brownie dessert and found it to be pretty dense with the consistency of fudge. I would go back to try some of their other steaks!

Ordered drinks right when we sat at the table and they came back several minutes later to tell us that they were out of one of the ingredients. Placed our food order while we reordered new drinks and had to wait awhile. Our salads made it out before the drinks. We ordered the Chop House Burger with blue cheese crumbles and fries. Menu indicated that it came with a side of rodeo sauce and had to request it when it wasn't on the plate. I love blue cheese but this had a little too much and made the burger too salty. It was cooked perfectly but would have better with a different cheese or less blue. We also ordered the Famous Filet (6 oz). It was delivered to the table sizzling on a hot plate so I know it just came out of the oven. The waiter asked me to cut into the steak to make sure it was cooked to my liking before they walked away. I would have preferred to wait a couple minutes on the table to let it cook a little more. Delicious! Cooked exactly as requested and very tender.

They've also changed their menu quite a few times since inception. First off it's a beautiful restaurant with a nice large parking lot and you'll be seated by a hostess on either the dining room side or the large bar/dining area on the other half of the restaurant. There's many large comfortable booths to sit in unless you want a table which there's plenty of too. Also high top tables for 4/6/8 available on the bar side or you can just sit at the very large bar that's three sided with 60 seats. The bar side is full of TVs. And generally has music videos as well as sports on. After getting seated by your hostess, expect you will get a great experience from your server as they take pride in training their staff very well here and I've never had a bad experience with a server in probably 20/25 visits here. The menu is a little all over the place now there are some interesting and tasty appetizers. The cheese logs and the fried green tomatoes seem to be most people's favorite appetizers. The chicken wings are pretty good though there are limited flavors available. They do an amazing happy hour menu with great appetizer deals as well as good drink deals if you have the opportunity to stop in during this time of day. I think where they shine is with their burgers. I've had some very delicious burgers there. I've also had good Italian type food with their rigatoni , manicotti and their Stromboli's. Their pizza used to be really excellent. And now it's a little hit and miss depending on which type you get. They have their own woodfired pizza Grill, which has the potential to make amazing crust. However, they tend to get ratios of cheese and meats a little off sometimes. The bison chili and the duck gumbo are both pretty good. It's not traditional Cajun gumbo but it's still a pretty delicious soup. I've had a few bad soups here, including the beer cheese and some of the other cheese soups, which were not completely cooked down and were gritty with flour base still noticeable. The fried fish is also a stand out dish that they do. And a lot of people really like their steaks and steak salad. Overall, this is a great place to bring your family or a large group of friends or even a elegant birthday party. You know you'll get taken really good care of and other than it's more on the expensive side you know exactly what you're gonna get every time highly recommended and if you're getting a cocktail, I recommend the huckleberry Mojito. Recommended.

My husband and I took a gander at the menu before getting there, but we wanted to double check to make sure we knew what we wanted. There are SO MANY choices! All sound amazing! I ALWAYS have to order fried okra to see if they get it right and Sanford's definitely does. The Momma Odie's chicken melt was such a spot hitter. The Parmesan garlic crust on the sourdough bread with the melted spinach dip, bacon, and chicken was the perfect balance of flavors. My husband LOVED his pants on fire burger. He said it was the perfect combination of buffalo ranch and melted bleu cheese crumbles with his burger patty. It was the first time he actually used a knife and fork to eat his burger. He got plain fries and those with the pickle were a nice finish. We ended our meal with huckleberry ice cream. It was just what was needed to complete the meal. We can't wait to come back again. But clearly, without being anchored in the Hilton, this place would probably be out of business. I really liked the waitress/bartender, but it was clear how exacerbated she was with conditions. I looked at the menu first online and when I arrived, she apologized and said those were out of date. Fine. One diner and one at the bar, I sat at a table. The chair I sat in was really wobbly, so I switched to another as I didn't feel safe given my 6'3" frame. Not much better. So I moved over to the table with a bench. The bench didn't have any functional cushioning, but at least it was stable. When she delivered my beverage, I explained why I moved and she apologized as she knew and that they have been waiting for "their remodel." Later, I heard the waitress apologize to a couple because they didn't have any salt, but they did have pepper! They were taking the food back to their room, so she offered some ideas of where they could find salt. The chicken Cobb salad on Google had a real fried chicken breast, but what they are actually serving is a sliced giant chicken nugget product. They rest was great (salad not wilted or slimy, good toppings) and I liked the blue cheese dressing. So, 3 stars on the overall experience.
