I've been lucky enough to come twice now while on vacation to jjacques and both times were exceptional, I also funnily enough sat at the exact same table both times. The service and staff and excellent - they give great recommendations, are funny and just make you feel taken care of. Shout-out to Nathan our waiter who spoke in EN for half the table and FR for the other half haha. He was so fun! The first time I came here was with my husband and we had a lovely dinner - the salmon blinis were our fave so I knew when I was here the second time, they were a must! The second time, there were six of us so we ordered quite a bit - we had the salmon blinis with caviar, a few oysters, the cod fritters, the prawn cocktail, the mushroom tortellini, flounder crudo, and whole fried fish - for dessert we did a cheese plate with some delicious local cheese. Everything was delicious - the whole fish is a must - the skin is so crispy and tasty - has a lot of Vietnamese flavours. The cocktails are also fabulous here - I had the Mexican Firing Squad and the Jungle Bird - both delicious and easy to drink! The room itself reminds me of a cool speakeasy bar/resto you'd find in the streets of New York City. It's hidden in an alleyway behind a very unassuming door. It's all part of the magic of the restaurant. If there is one place to go for dinner in QC, go here. We booked a reso in advance and I recommend you do this to secure your spot!

The staff were all very great in explaining everything about the menu. For example, if you want the beef Tomahawk ($145), they told you to order it now since it'll be a 45 minute wait. We started off with 24 oysters ($72) as we love oysters. They had different type of oysters and we enjoyed the east coast oysters. My favorite dishes that we ordered were the seared scallops ($42) and the Butterfish Tataki ($22). We were a bit disappointed in the Crab Rotolo ($36) as we didn't enjoy the combination of the sauce and crab. The scallops were cooked very well and we loved the sauce for the Tataki. The Vitello Tonnato ($22) and Cod Fritters ($15) were decent but not as good in comparison to our favorites. We throughly enjoyed our dinner here as we had a good time trying all the food and mocktails they offered.

Honestly, who would have thought at the beginning of this trip that blood pudding would become one of my favorite dishes? Le Bedeau's wasn't my favorite of the two that I have had but it was still really good! You know what else was good this night? The veal carpaccio and the smoked arctic char. Delicious! I wasn't a fan of the rabbit saddle or the burrata this time around due to texture and flavor combinations, respectively. We also had the magnum beaujolais which was really fruit forward and not too acidic. I enjoyed it! Would I come back? Probably! Would I come back if I'm looking for a quieter meal? Probably not.

From the gorgeous ambience to the extensive wine list and well crafted menu, you should make this your next date night spot while visiting Quebec City. We did not have a ton of time to spend here due to dinner reservations elsewhere. Even though our time was short we had an overal phenomenal experience. The bartender was so friendly and had wine suggestions ranging from Old World to wines that were from Quebec. I started off with a sparkling wine from Canada that was delicious. We also shared a few appetizers such as their burrata and olives. Everything was amazing but definitely be prepared to spend some money here. Since Quebec mostly has everything imported it can get quite pricey but definitely worth it for sure. Cheers!

The host settled us into side…read moreby side settings on one of the love seats, and suggested his own spritz cocktail-- a sweet, herbaceous concoction of red and white wines, some other things, and "no aperol!" that was reminiscent of a sophisticated birch beer. The entire menu looked irresistible, but we decided we would order 3 starters and dessert. The special appetizer was a creamy wild mushroom sauté with housemade chicken stock and a foie gras option, which we ordered. We also ordered the scallop appetizer and the charcuterie planche. Every single thing we ate was exquisite. Our host, who was also the server. brought each appetizer out as a course beginning with the scallops. They were delicious (although it would've been nice to have had one or two more scallops on there). The mushroom appetizer could have gone on forever as far as I was concerned. Truthfully, we should have stopped there. I did not realize that the charcuterie planche was really enough for four people. We ended up picking at it, but taking a lot of it home for breakfast the next day. Sadly, we did not leave room for dessert. My boyfriend had a Chardonnay from Ontario, which was sweet but paired nicely with the scallops. I had an orange wine, which I had never had before, but it was the suggestion of the host, and it was really delightful with the charcuterie. Great service, delicious food, sweet, sweet spot. Truly, I love this little restaurant, and if I lived nearby, I would be a regular.

It's slightly off the beaten path but it's so worth it. Let me start with the ambiance. It is such a cozy place. The tables are made of natural slabs of wood. The lighting is sort of dim but the right amount of dimness. We started off with a spritz that was recommended to us by Giovanni. I'll get back to him, but the Spritz Hiver was delicious. Perfect winter spritz with a mixture of flavors and spices. For appetizer I ordered one which I believe wasn't on the menu which consisted of mushrooms cooked in a white wine and a piece of bread and foie gras. Amazing!! My son ordered the scallop which he only let me try a little bit because he liked it so much. My wife ordered the beet root salad which she loved all the flavors except she felt the beet root flavor was a bit strong. As a main course my daughter and I both ordered the Mac n cheese. Let me tell you that the name doesn't do it any justice . Honestly I would rename the dish because living in the USA, Mac n cheese is very different. This dish is WAY better than what we know as Mac n cheese. All the flavors in this dish is like a party in your mouth. They all go So well together. This dish is actually gnocchi in a delicious sauce with a big piece of cheese and black garlic crumble on top. Now my only criticism were the actual gnocchi which were a bit rubbery. If you know me by my reviews, in my family I'm famous for my potato gnocchi so I'm a hard critic on gnocchi. I have only eaten at two restaurants that have had gnocchi that come close to mine. Anyways the gnocchi in this dish is a vessel for the sauce. Delicious dish. My son ordered the filet mignon which again he only let me try very little because he liked it and ate it all. My wife ordered the bison rib which was also soooo good. Not gamey at all. So tender and flavorful. I must say all the dishes were a mixture of flavors in your mouth which makes you smile. The desserts were as delicious as the meal. We tried both the Bec Chocolate and the crème brule. Both were delicious with the Bec Chocolate being mainly a mouse with dark and white chocolate and a blue berry confit. Now back to Giovanni. What a great person. Made us feel so welcome. He gave us great recommendations. He made me feel as if I was at his home and invited us for dinner. I rarely give a restaurant 5 stars, but this place truly deserves it. I hope the Michelin guide pays them a visit because I believe they deserve some Michelin stars. If you come to Quebec, definitely give this place a try. I think you will thank me. Enjoy!!!!

During the meal, we were able to enjoy a fantastic drag show. Great music, lights and the performances were excellent. The Hostess for evening was fabulous. What a fun night. At 9:30 the space is truly cleared out in minutes and turned into a dance club. We were going to stay, but the crowd made us feel a little (a lot) old. Ha ha. Trying to find a place for 9 picky friends for dinner is never easy. But Elli was a hit. Happy 2023.

Wow! First to review on Yelp!…read more On Friday July 30, 2021, my husband and I found this place on Google Maps to eat at for dinner. We didn't make any reservations so we were lucky to get into anything especially on a Friday night. Type of food: Pub, modern and comforting. Dress Code: Casual and/or dressy if you like Atmosphere: We dined in the patio. AWESOME MUSIC! I realized there was a DJ after. (5/5) Service: Wonderful host and server (5/5) What we ate for 2: (Note: We do not have any food restrictions and allergies) Main Dish - Wellington (3.5/5) Main Dish - Tartar with fries (3/5) Food was filling for the both of us but we have had better Wellingtons and Tartar. This is what happens when you're a foodie. But if you have nothing to compare it too. The Wellington is good. I would probably suggest the Tartar as an appetizer and not a main dish. We looked at the restaurants website and they have entertainment. Not sure when they take place but it looks SO much fun. This would be a great place to hang out with friends, watch the entertainment, order up appetizers, and have LOTS OF DRINKS.

The MSG with mezcal cocktail brought a smoky, adventurous character with depth and balance that made it stand out. The chili con carne was pure comfort. Rich, slow-cooked flavor, hearty without being heavy, and perfectly complemented by fresh greens and crisp bread. What truly elevated the experience was the amazing service from our waitress. Started with a few favorites from the fabulous waitress who took great care to go over the menu with my group before we ordered. The French Onion and Creamy Tomato were both excellent. In particular, the French Onion might be the best iteration I've ever had. The crusted cheesy, bready top held up well to savory broth and caramelized onions. The Buvette, Tartare, and Escargot were all also very delicious. The Buvette was tender and beefy on top of a bed of cream of corn, roasted corn and tomato caramel for a slight sweetness. The Tartare was a classic rendition, beefy and mustardy, and one of the few times I've had tartare that was filling. After our meal I was snapping a photo of the restaurant and the owner Louis saw me and took a few photos for me. He's an excellent photographer as well!
