This school actually sucks ass, they don't care for their students at all. Their staff are actually…read more terrible at the job, Especially the nurses, they do not care if a child in their school is cough their lungs out and only care about the more popular/known children there, The teachers there also do not care for their students, even when they are feeling horrible like having a panic attack or crying their eyes out. Also the food there really is terrible, Like inedible. The ladies in the front office are always rude to their students as well which is unprofessional. Also i don't like how big this school is too.

Note to parents: If you would like your children to experience extreme social status elitism, send…read morethem here. At Clovis East, cliques and style seem to mean everything, and quite a few teachers turn a blind eye to the jocks' silly and sometimes violent antics just to keep them in football. The dress code in all Clovis Schools is ridiculous, long hair on guys is prohibited [lower than eyebrows, top of ears, or middle of neck], and all piercings are forbidden for guys and ears-only for girls. The teaching staff is pretty abysmal, not counting the few teachers that really do try. Among those select few are: The social science teacher Cameron Fong Science teacher Kristi Whittaker Zoology teacher Randy Ray Math teacher Jim Hurley Social Science teacher Adam Higgenbotham Photography teacher Kristi Bolin -I am probably forgetting some others, and these names are by no means in order. These teachers are the only reason the school gets a 3/5, and if they were not there, this would be a one out of five.

The biggest lie that UHS tells students and parents is that it gives you a leg up on college. The…read moretruth is that colleges have such a difficult time processing or understanding a UHS transcript that you will be lucky if any of the courses you take (which will be loaded with way more busy work than any actual college class is) wind up counting for credit. Anytime I ever tried to attend college after UHS I would have to spend weeks meeting with multiple counselors, having them have to talk back-and-forth between CSUFresno multiple times, and having to pay for the same transcripts several times because any other school gets so confused by the fact that it shows you attended Fresno state for too many years compared to the units you took for your timeframe and completion rates. (LITERALLY counts against you on paper.) In order to get any of your Scholastic records actually counted from UHS is a long, arduous process where you will have to fight like tooth and nail just to get any kind of record of the hours of torture that were spent filling out 7 page study guides. Also, colleges do not look favorably upon it as a school compared to any of the prominent Fresno or Clovis high schools, as it's widely considered amongst actual educators as a joke (tell a college counselor you attended UHS & watch their facial expression change into one of dread & sympathy.) Most of the students that went to UHS wound up being so burnt out from the environment of scholastic servitude and personal repression that they either didn't want to go to college right after high school or transferred out by their senior year to a normal high school. In addition to that, the social environment of the school is extremely hostile, very much an "us versus them" attitude where ultra-conservative religions & white privilege reigns, which the administrators ensure by requiring students to have already played a musical instrument. The school has been very successful at catering to their intended demographic. One of the least diverse schools I've ever seen, and definitely the most hostile to anyone that doesn't fit in their Utah milktoast mold.

This school has an amazing musical program and most students that attend go to college. This school…read moreis not for everyone, it is a lot of work and the most reward. The culture of the school is uplifting and nonjudgemental. My daughter is graduating this year and then starts her Psychology studies. It is a feeder school to FSU, so if you are thinking of Frenso State and your kid is musical (Singing or Instrumental) this is the place for you! Pretty much everyday when you pick your child, you will hear a band playing or the beautiful choir serenading you on campus. If your child is musical in any capacity this is the school for you.
