I went to UHS, and can honestly say it was one of the worst experiences of my life. As a school they treat students like lab rats. I was sexually harassed by two male students in my junior year, despite numerous emails and phone calls to both the teacher of the class it was happening in and the Dean, the school refused to do anything until I threatened legal action, and even then neither student was punished, I was just put in a different class. The school also had two incidents with male teachers acting inappropriately towards other students that were hushed up, later one of those teachers was arrested (you can look it up.) Their derisive attitude towards their students also extended to their take on bullying. The small school environment hosts an extreme social dynamic-students who would not have fit in at a regular high school are the norm at UHS, so the bullied are given a chance to become the bullies, and given free rein to do it. UHS doesn't seem to have the same level of school district supervision, and they take full advantage. Also the school has an insane amount of busy work, and they are VERY discouraging of student having any interests outside of school, or their music work at school. I am an athlete and involved in animal rescue-two things I was made fun of for at UHS, and told by teachers to "not make those things a priority." Truly a school that seems eager to bring back Machiavellian practices. read more
