They saw me right away to dye My hair, I was treated fabulous there. I had all 3 instructors reviewing my hair. It came out perfect. They say they will help you find work but they don't why are you even offering a course to students when you know the market is full and it's impossible to get into a job now you have a student who can't find work but owes a ton of debt be very careful starting here unless you have something lined up and know people who can get you into a job with no experience don't go into debt here read more

I graduated from IOT's HVAC program in June of 2026. I'll try and keep it as short and to the point as possible. To start to all my fellow veterans DO NOT waste your hard earned GI bill on this place there are better options and you can't get it back. This place is a welfare to work school through and through. As a guy who just got out of the Marines as a mechanic I was looking to get into HVAC and IOT had openings in the program at the time I was looking, they have a pretty solid administration office that sells the school and program to you and give you a sense of professionalism when you do your initial tour. Once you sign the papers and start classes is when you see the reality. To keep it short roughly 90% of your fellow students will be welfare sponsored by what's called workforce connection hence a vast majority don't even want to be there, scroll on their phone all day, barely show up throughout the course. Basically If you show up a few times and type a "1-2 sentences on what you've learned" for each assignment you'll pass, I had a kid in the class that showed up pretty much only for the finals and still graduated with no issues. The staff even made jokes about how bad his attendance was but obviously no one cared enough to ensure there was a professional environment where standards were held for the education and student conduct. I also had an incident where my property was stolen in the lab by a fellow student and luckily I caught him and when confronted he threatened to fight me. Im an adult and not going to partake in foolish activities especially at what's supposed to be a professional education center and followed the proper chain of command for reporting the incident and was ensured it wouldn't be "brushed under the rug" and it would be "properly dealt with" long story short nothing happened with the student, no repercussions happened and he was allowed to continue on like normal and graduated a few weeks later. There was also multiple threats and warnings posted due to other students who were attending this institution. There is no accountability to uphold a safe and professional learning environment from the directors whatsoever. Lastly to wrap it up and hit all the main points I'll give some credit from my personal experience with the staff and say the administrative office does a great job at helping you through the enrollment process, the girls at the front desk are extremely helpful and great at their job, the instructors are good people but you can tell some of them are just there for a paycheck and there's not really a lot of learning that will occur. I had multiple weeks where sometimes we didn't even know who was supposed to be the instructor/substitution for the day because they were absent and us students would sit for hours in class doing nothing until the school scrambled up someone to "sit in" on the class. The school really is just submitting your elementary style homework on an E-textbook and taking the quiz at the end of the week. I will say though Mr. Markus does a great job of instructing in person in the labs and the labs seemed to be improving towards the last few weeks of my time at IOT before graduating since he took some feedback from the students and implemented it into the lab work. I also would like to give credit to Jonathan in career services who does come into the class and try and get to know some of the students and potentially help them in their search for a career. There is a lot of downtime that could be used for instruction and learning where people are typically sitting on their phones, the environment feels more like a high school then it does a college, there is no accountability or expectation for professionalism and safety, you'll walk away from here with a few certs you could have paid a couple hundred bucks instead of 20k+ to take online that you need about a day to study for (the school uses the same courses and tests you can do by yourself online and drags it out over 5 week intervals). If it were up to me I would say look elsewhere for better opportunities, but that's really just my opinion based off my personal experience. read more

On Jan 28th: I was once again impressed with the Cosmetology School at the Institute of Technology. It is very well run & organized. I went for a wash, blow dry, & flat iron. Perscilla was my stylist & she did a great job! She was very knowledgeable, kind & polite. I really enjoyed having her as my stylist. I felt the spa experience. If you're going to sign up for HVAC don't........ not much needed to be said. I feel like I've been robbed $21,000, the program should be 5,000 or less with all honesty. Not much accountability to test your knowledge, if you show up you'll pass. I do give credit to the job counselors though, specifically Johnathan , he goes really cares and helps out the students that seek his help. read more

Attended their culinary arts program in August of 2023, graduated September 2024. The most amazing program I could ask for! I was never a school person but attending this school made me look forward to learning! The instructors are so kind and I not only learned the basics of culinary arts but I learned what kind of chef I could be. All the staff are so kind and welcoming, remembering your name and making you feel a part of what they're building at the school. While the different degree classes don't interact much it's still an amazing place to make friends, learn life long lessons, and so much more. Couldn't have asked for a better experience! read more

Terrible Welding program. supplies were dispersed sparsely had to buy my own material. Even though it is said it would be supplied. Work area minimal and yelled at for using to much electrical power. Do not bother attending this school for any culinary program. They do not care about students at all and are only here to rip off young adults looking to get into a dying field. I would like to recommend this school to anyone that is interested in continuing their education. I decided to go to this school versus the others because of the great staff that assisted me through the whole process and made me feel very welcome compared to the other schools that I looked at. Their Information Technology ( IT ) program is by far one of the best in the Central Valley. I was able to use my G.I. Bill there and they assisted me the whole way with no headaches. The teachers were very nice and well educated and happy to assist and answer any questions throughout the whole program. If I could give Amanda more than a 5 star rating I would. She assisted me when I had a problem and takes pride in her job. Thankx guys and continue with the great work!!! read more

Do NOT enroll in this school if you want to be an LVN! They have a shortage of instructors which means they will cancel classes (by sending you a last minute email) and then require you to make up those canceled hours on weekends AND take away Christmas and Spring break to make up hours! The Director of Nursing resigned 2 weeks ago due to the poor operation of the Medical Department. Two other instructors are also quitting. When you have Instructors telling their students that the school is mis-managed and that the CEO doesn't care, that's a huge red flag. There are students that are currently enrolled here that drive over 65 miles a day just to attend classes and management doesn't submit their hours on time to JTO, which means these students who rely on their gas reimbursement checks, wait WEEKS to receive them. It costs approximately $30k for a one year LVN program. Now because of lack of adequate instructors, the likelihood of graduating on time--or at all is in limbo. I smell a lawsuit in the very near future. read more

Don't enroll in cosmetology program. There is only a few good teachers here, but other than that the staff is a joke. So unprofessional! And when you go and complain to anyone, they tell you I'll look into it or if you would've let us know sooner, we could've fixed it. Not to mention when I applied for state board the program director sent it out later than everyone else, so I was not able to test with my classmates. Overall had a negative experience here and would not recommend to anyone! Not to mention I paid too much money for very little education. Learned almost everything through a YouTube video. Should've gone to Paul Mitchell to be honest. I would also like to add that there was a racist teacher who works here, if he hears anyone speak Spanish he would tell them to speak English because this is America.... save your time and money and go somewhere else! read more

I came here back in 2007 for the medical assistant program. it's cheaper here than other places and I've made great life long friends here. school is nice and so are the teachers. they're very knowledgeable in their field. it's hands on with some things should know while working as a medical assistant but it is only to an extent and that's where my problem is with the school. I've found a few jobs in that field after I graduated and even though a few can complain about not being able to find a job, it's all about the hustle and how hard you work into finding that job. anyway, I've learned that the more experience I gained and worked in dr's offices, the more I realized that none of what I was doing in my new job as M.A, in the real world, wasn't what I learned at IT. what i learned at IT was really.... just the basics. don't get me wrong, I learn a lot about the medical world, but when it comes down to it, being in the medical field is such a broad field with so many specialties, that when you do get a job, you are expected to already know everything about that specialty and how to handle certain situations. when you don't, your just really dumbfounded because why the heck did I go to IT for? so now, 12 years later, i'm still stuck with student loan debt that never goes down no matter how current i am with my payments and i haven't been in the M.A field for 10 years now so if your thinking about taking the fast way out, stick to community college or adult school. they offer some of the same programs for FREE or a few hundred bucks. read more

I would recommend this school for anyone looking to start a new career. Trade schools are often scary & over priced but believe me when I say this the first trade school I feel isn't way expensive and they aren't out for your money. The staff (ALL staff) is there for You and they truly care for you. They aren't pushing you to sign up your first time there and they truly want you to make the choice of going there or if you feel it's not for you then you don't have to sign up and won't be hassled. I've attended for culinary & now I am going back for Criminology and I do NOT regret it one bit. Whom just bring their failed knowledge to the campus, and rush the students through a half ass program. Just like what everyone else on here is saying. All about the money. They do. Not. Care. About. You. Period. This place is not in it for any sentimental value. They're in it for the "year over year revenue", and "heads in class". Their job center is appalling. Literally takes weeks and weeks of constantly checking in with the Representatives, and all they come up with for you is a performance based (hourly) minimum wage job... Its a OK school you get things done but when I was in orientation in 2015 I was really offended how I was treated by one of the staff ladies hosting the orientation for me who starts with a Z , calling me silent and not talkative, when all I was trying to do is listen to what she had to say about IOT Clovis. Even the FAFSA advisor who starts with a P disrespected me by saying I'm silent like I'm not there. But other than that in terms of paying for the school its not worth it. Its too expensive!
