For background: I bank with another credit union but all of their branches are cashless so I do t bother with the following request.
I came to this branch because it is the only bank in McCleary (where I live). I got cash from their ATM, walked in and asked if they could make change (I wanted to get some 1's and 5's and a roll of quarters).
I've done this before and it was never a problem. But now, they can't make change unless I have an account with them. I'm sure there's a reason for the policy but it seems a bit ridiculous to me to turn down such a simple request. Cash is cash. If it's legit and I got it from your atm you should be happy to do business with me because every positive interaction is a potential customer.
Well I won't bother again. Sorry to inconvenience your policies.
The only thing saving this from being 1 star is the teller. I won't fault her, she was kind and offered up a suggestion as to where I could go to get change, she was very nice and apologized for the policy that she had to enforce.
This review is not for her, she was excellent. However, In a society that is veering farther away from having cash at the ready, turning down these types of interactions, (I used to be a teller once upon a time ) reduces job security, drives away potential customers, and leaves a potential for this position will become more and more scarce.
