A small intimate Turkish restaurant near Hammersmith serving more 'healthier' version and portions of the classic Turkish dishes. Decor is very basic but clean and bright with the seating area at the back and the kitchen at the front so people can just order a takeaway. Staff were pleasant and efficient enough. Hot mezze platter for 2 This was quite impressive and came with a generous amount of salad. Sadly no bread accompanied this dish as promised. The Muska borek was made delicately with a nice thin filo pastry and filled with a generous amount of soft feta cheese. It tasted very fresh, greaseless with good flavours from the parsley mixed in. Falafel was nice and crunchy on the outside crumbling into a slightly more moist inside. This means it was fried well. It was full of flavour and seasoned beautifully. Icli borek had a lovely satisfying bite, crispy and doughy exterior with a lovely juicy fragrant minced meat filling as well as onions and other herbs. Potatoe Kofte was also quite crunchy yet moist inside. Nice flavours from the different herbs and mince meat. The only improvements I would suggest other than the missing bread is a more generous portion of houmous. Kleftico Oven roasted lamb shank was delicious, full of depth and topped with a lovely array of stewed vegetables giving it extra moisture and umami from the fresh tomato it was in. The meat was succulent and tender, perfectly cooked so the meat just came off the bone. High quality fluffy baby potatoes although I wish they gave more than just four. Kuzu/Tavuk (lamb and chicken shish) mix This was quite a stingy portion. The plate contained mainly salad and there was only two tablespoons of rice which was still quite hard being not fully cooked. The lamb and chicken itself was okay. It just lacked that juiciness and sweetness to give it a memorable flavour. Tomato could have been grilled a bit more to soften and to give it a nice chargrilled flavour. Disappointing. Yogurtlu beyti This had a lovely aroma of being chargrilled. The minced lamb took on a lot of flavour being cooked with the herbs, onions and tomatoes. A good contrast in texture from the fried bread pieces in the mix and was good at holding the moisture and flavours in until you chewed it. The yogurt was the perfect companionship to add a nice creaminess to it without being too heavy. Sadly I found the rice too hard and the portion size wasn't as generous as some other places I've been. Grilled whole seabass This was really fresh and meaty. However it could have been left to season for a longer period of time to give it a more distinctive flavour inside. Still I very much appreciate the chargrilled skin against the fleshy meat adding a nice smokiness to it. Chips were crispy yet fluffy inside, seasoned already which was nice. Complimentary salad and bread More salad was given on a separate dish to accompany our meal which were all lovely and fresh. But I did feel they went a bit overboard. Came undressed which was refreshing to have at first but then became boring. Bread was the standard plain pitta bread. Nice to have but I found it a bit boring too compared the softer Turkish ramandan bread I get in certain Turkish restaurants. I didn't feel Ottoman left a memorable experience. The portions are definitely a lot smaller focusing more on presentation which some may call 'healthier'. Maybe they are trying to be more upmarket to fit into the area but because of that they lose that homely Turkish cooking that I love, They use salad as filler rather than the main itself which somewhat takes a lot of flavour and texture out of the main itself if you are just constantly eating the salad. I personally feel their main dishes fall behind in flavour compared to other Turkish restaurants I've been to, especially in their grilled meats. More time need to be invested in to marinating and cooking their rice properly. Not to say things weren't tasty but nothing really wowed me or stimulated my tastebuds enough to have me coming back just to eat here.

I lived in Fulham for 6…read moremonths some years ago and would get the seasoned ground lamb kebab here at least one night a week. I recently returned while on a short trip to London and the kebab was just as delicious as I remembered. You can dine in or take away - make sure to ask for all the vegetable and sauce toppings on the kebab. It may seem a little pricey for one kebab but you get a ton of meat etc and if you can manage some self control and only eat half of it, it is a viable next-day lunch leftover option. The guys working the counter were always super nice as well!

I was about to take a moment to consider the vagaries of fate, when I saw a banner over the windows proclaiming: Best Mangal! I nearly squeed out loud. My husband and I have been trekking across the entire length of North End Road to West Ken for the past 3 years for the best Turkish kebab joint in all of London. And now, like the mountain to Mohammed, the Best Mangal had come to us in Fulham! Here's the deal: it's good, it's better than good, it's a stratosphere above the average kebab. Less than a tenner gets you an amazing lamb beyti, with heaping salad (delish in its own right!) and bread basket. Chicken donor is actually pretty lovely as well--didn't expect that! Looks like a takeaway, but there is a lovely restaurant portion with a garden patio where you can go for some hookah action if so inclined. Maybe when the weather is milder? The staff are so nice and shake hands when we come in--that could be because we went 3 times in one week when they first opened. =) Btw, hands down, better than the lousy Lebanese restaurant across the way. Just sayin'. Shame about us moving to Clapham...I reckon if the Best Mangal banner had appeared before we signed the papers, we might have had to reconsider leaving Fulham. In any case, we still trek, but this time across the river for some mouthwateringly delicious kebabs. What's even better is that the lure of a Best Mangal dinner gets me to David Lloyds at least once a week! Two birds! Anyway, if you're in Clapham, Fulham or Putney, make your pilgrimmage now. You'll not regret it. Promise. And you may even see us there!

The main courses arrived around 5 minutes after the starters were served. We asked the staff to wait until we finished the starters, so they took the mains back. When they returned the dishes later, the food was cold. We then requested fresh meals, but the food came back again within less than 10 minutes, which honestly made it seem reheated rather than freshly prepared. Dishes like okra and biryani normally require proper preparation time. The biryani itself was especially disappointing -- mostly rice with only a few small cubes of chicken. Later in the evening we were told that last orders were at 9:30pm. When we asked for drinks, we were told only tea and karak were available, then shortly afterwards informed that even karak could not be served because the person handling the machine had already left. That honestly felt unprofessional and poorly managed. We were also repeatedly reminded about a 2-hour table policy, despite being a large group and despite the restaurant being nearly empty at the time. To be fair, one waiter genuinely tried his best to help and the service charge was removed, which we appreciated. However, overall the experience did not reflect the standard or reputation the restaurant promotes.

Lamb is a lot bigger in London and other areas of the world and I wanted to eat as much of it as possible. I ended up ordering 1 Shwarma and it was a good size, but for someone like me I ended up ordering 2 just to make sure I was getting the full experience. I believe on the second one I got it mixed between both lamb and chicken. Both meats packed in a ton of flavor. I came in for lunch shortly after they had opened and the place was not to busy. I did sit at the bar and was able to watch the cooks prep for the day and slice the meats really well. They do fresh fruit juices here and they were cutting and juicing some of the fruits when I was visiting. They smelled amazing! I did not have any fruit juice but kind of wish I did just by the smells alone. I highly recommend this place and recommend the flavors of Beirut!
