Thankfully the gentleman and everyone else waiting for their ordered agreed and gave her the stink eye. I ordered the family deal with white fish. The deal comes close but slightly more expensive than their 7.08+tax lunch deal. The fry was great, crispy. The fries were not phosphate coated so not crunchy. The order was served with three small containers of tar tar sauce made in house. Not sure why it was yellow. Order was great overall, but they forgot the ketchup. Two people operating the business.

I stumbled on Riverside Fish Hut (thanks to YELP) and was impressed with the price for their family meals. Much less then anything I've seen around me so we went ahead and ordered for pickup. Located in a small plaza, the restaurant is very spacious for dine-in (a bit out-dated but does that really matter if the food is good?) and we were greeted and served quickly! I was a bit apprehensive whether the fish would be nicely sized and tasty given the amazing price for a family meal of 10 pieces and 4 fries but to my great surprise, they were perfect! About 3oz of fish each, the batter is light (not heavy and overpowering) and the fish was perfectly cooked, the fries were crispy and abundant (definitely more than 4 servings) and I also liked the gravy (which I got on the side). They even gave us an extra piece of fish (we got 11 pieces instead of 10!). So worth the 30 minute drive from Guelph! Highly recommend!

Popular with locals that know and often packed, they deliver high quality breakfast experiences the way it should be. Bacon of the highest standards, eggs over easy that are never runny, the most scrumptious breakfast potatoes, and the friendliest service. My personal favorite thing is that the toast comes to me BUTTERED! No more waiting on a frozen pat of butter to defrost in front of me while my toast gets cold and inedible. What a revelation! Thanks Barnacle Bill for solving this issue that causes millions of breakfast fails around the world daily. Please patent the idea and retire prosperous. Aside from breakfast there's classic local fish and chips, salads, burgers, and a rare treat: Newfie fries-- a poutine with stuffing and gravy. Doesn't get more Canadian than that. Enjoy!

August 14/2026: Dinner with Cathy & Peter…read more This was not bad at all. Started with a Greek Salad ($10.00). Tasty & sweet dressing oddly enough, but just not enough of that dressing. My main was the house made Pork Schnitzel ($21.00). Very tasty with a panko crust but just a dash dry. The mushroom gravy needed to be supplemented with additional brown gravy ($2.00). This gravy tasted more like a beef gravy but it worked with the meal. The mashed potatoes were real, not from a box. Finished the meal with some house prepared strawberry ice cream ($5.00) nice but not overly so. As a note, our server Laura was very nice, friendly & terrific!

Kraft Dinner was gourmet in comparison. It might have been the worst mac I've ever tasted, not even black pepper or ketchup could save it for me. My boyfriend got a similar meal but with coleslaw and cornbread on the side as well. Coleslaw he said was so-so, and I tasted the cornbread which was good but 99% sure it's store bought. Overall, probably wouldn't return unless it's to buy just meat.

When I got the order we noticed none of the food packaging was marked with no salt for the fries for two of three orders and so I called in and turns out they dont salt their fries. Each order costed 17.99$ + HTG +tax. So just a little info, this location charges what seems to be a covid charge and when ordering online it can be buggy. The online ordering system even prompts for tip in addition to their self administered tax. With the extra 1.62 tariff on the three orders I had high expectations. But it all crumbled when we ate it :( The fish batter was hard...so hard the plastic forks were bending and struggling to grab the food with a very salty batter. The bed of fries was so little, unsalted but soggy. The frustrating this is that you do have to order ketchup because there was no ketchup, just cream tar tar.
