Always excellent food. Great breakfast. Been going here since I was a kid with a paper route. Highly recommended

I was on a trip to Cambridge and saw this place near by where we parked. The restaurant is pretty clean and good. The most of the clients seemed to be seniors at this location on a Saturday evening. The service was quite good and fast. The server was friendly and helpful. The menu has quite a bit of choices in terms of fish and is not too bad on the pocket. The bring bread in the beginning to munch on. We tried their fried fish and a fish burger with Fries. The fried fish was Pollock and was nice hot and crispy but the fish tasted ok, whereas the Fish burger was Cod fish and was quite good. The fires were fresh and quite nice. Parking is free and over all a decent joint.

    Poutine :) delicious!

My gluten free..the fish was dry and disgusting. Tasted like it had been made before and was just heated up. The regular halibut was rubbery. Chips were also hard and gross. Great, fabulous restaurant!…read more Seriously, it's your classic 'fish and chips' spot and honestly, the food is delicious, but it's the SERVICE that really makes this place a 5 star! it's a 'mom and pop' independent establishment and you can tell these folks really care about their business! I don't eat there all the time, but every time I do, the lady always remembers my name and asks me how I'm doing. You can feel good giving your money to Captain Jack's restaurant in exchange for their lovely fish and chips; big chain restaurants don't really need your money and have servers that will never remember you and don't really love their jobs. Captain Jack's, however, is an amazing, independent restaurant, run by a hard-working couple who deserve for their restaurant to thrive for many years to come. I recommend trying the mushroom soup as an appetizer; it's different from anything I've ever had, but quite delicious. You will clean your plate and come back again for more delicious deep-fried fish and chips goodness!

The food is good and consistent and Sammy and his staff are always friendly and professional. We had not been for awhile but decided to spend another anniversary at Romero's, As usual the Caesar salads were very good as were our entrees. I decided to try the Fettucine Alfredo which I had never had here before. It was one of the best I have ever had. It was obvious that the cream was freshly made and not from a can or outsourced. Sadly though we did not receive complimentry bread which we have always in the past. Did not notice it on other's tables as well. Also, it must be said that this restaurant is in need of some TLC or renovations. The carpeting is long past its useful life and does nothing to add to the Italian atmosphere of the place. The banquet style chairs are also ugly and uncomfortable. We still love the place and will continue to come here as part of our staple restaurants we visit. At one time Romero's was really the only Italian restaurant I would recommend in Guelph. With Buon Gusto and La Cucina in town I think Romeros needs to reinvent themselves a bit.

The meals are a good selection with somewhat larger portions, and very tasty on. I had the linguine Romero and the shrimp and scallops were very tasty and seemed to be fresh. The wine selection is not extensive but I just had the house wine and it was great. The prices are reasonable and the service is great. We were there on a Monday night and although we did not need a reservation the place was almost full. This is definitely a place to visit when in the area.

So I arrived to put my order, the dine in was closed and the entrance was converted to a take out window. Before I could put an order a caucasian senior lady cut in front of me!!! Thankfully the gentleman and everyone else waiting for their ordered agreed and gave her the stink eye. I ordered the family deal with white fish. The deal comes close but slightly more expensive than their 7.08+tax lunch deal. The fry was great, crispy. The fries were not phosphate coated so not crunchy. The order was served with three small containers of tar tar sauce made in house. Not sure why it was yellow. Order was great overall, but they forgot the ketchup. Two people operating the business.

I stumbled on Riverside Fish Hut (thanks to YELP) and was impressed with the price for their family meals. Much less then anything I've seen around me so we went ahead and ordered for pickup. Located in a small plaza, the restaurant is very spacious for dine-in (a bit out-dated but does that really matter if the food is good?) and we were greeted and served quickly! I was a bit apprehensive whether the fish would be nicely sized and tasty given the amazing price for a family meal of 10 pieces and 4 fries but to my great surprise, they were perfect! About 3oz of fish each, the batter is light (not heavy and overpowering) and the fish was perfectly cooked, the fries were crispy and abundant (definitely more than 4 servings) and I also liked the gravy (which I got on the side). They even gave us an extra piece of fish (we got 11 pieces instead of 10!). So worth the 30 minute drive from Guelph! Highly recommend!
