Delicious spot! We ended up here because of Yelp reviews (thanks Yelpers!) and it did not disappoint. We started with the tsunami roll and it was probably one of the best rolls we've had in a while. My husband got the Ramen which was delicious and filling. I got the Bang Bang Noodles which was such a unique taste to me. It's a peanut based sauce but with the thicker noodles and ground pork, it was something I was looking forward to eating every bite. I can't believe I've never been here before! I was seated immediately on a busy Saturday night. Our server was very kind although he did seem to periodically forget about my party. The ambiance is nice and the place is well decorated - but the star of the show is the sushi! The selection of rolls is incredibly unique and their fish is VERY fresh. To start, we ordered the garlic salt edamame which was great in flavor and the crispy rice which was AMAZING and definitely my favorite in the area! Visited here on a Friday night with a friend. The service was outstanding. I met Cindy, the general manager, she was super sweet. Our waiter, Justin, was very nice! The food was very good and our waiter was very knowledgeable of the menu. The Crab Rangoons is made with real crab and not "Krab" so you can expect a different taste. It is full of crab and less cream cheese. I'm honestly not into the raw salmon, I don't remember the exact name of the dish. However it was so good! Iy contained a black truffle sauce as well, I really don't like truffle either but I couldn't taste it here. Would definitely recommend trying. The Chicken was good, had a very peppery taste. Luckily, two of my friends invited my daughter and I to an early Saturday morning Lunch at Otoro. Not really being familiar with the restaurant, I wasn't exactly sure on what to expect. We got there around 11am, just after they were opening up and we pretty much had the whole restaurant to ourselves, which is pretty awesome for us. The restaurant has a really nice and open look to it and has a lot of space for patrons, including space in front of the sushi chefs. For drinks, we started off with the Yuzu Lemon Drop, Lychee Martini and the Spicy Sake Mule from the Sake Cocktails menu, which I think everyone liked. Our waitress was super friendly and helpful, and patient too as we took awhile to order since we were talking for awhile before figuring out what we wanted off of the menu. For apps, we got the Kani Rangoons and the Scratch Dumplings which were both good. Then we had the Grilled Octopus Salad which was probably the highlight of the meal for me. For Rolls we got the: Tsunami Roll (shrimp tempura, cucumber, avocado, spicy tuna, serrano pepper, tempura flake, eel sauce) The Zen Roll (grilled shiitake mushroom, asparagus, cucumber, beet, daikon, cilantro aioli) Surf and Turf Roll (shrimp tempura, asparagus, aburi wagyu beef, house tare, crispy leek) Salmon Aburi Roll (spicy salmon, avocado, aburi salmon, cilantro aioli, salmon egg) Kamikaze Crunch Roll (crispy salmon skin, serrano pepper, cilantro, yellowtail, eel sauce) I know that's a lot for 3 adults and a child, however we managed to finish it, even though we may have been humoring in the end. When it comes to the rolls, I wouldn't do the Kamikaze Crunch Roll again, it was the first time doing a roll with Crispy Salmon Skin, and maybe that's just not my thing. My only drawback is that even though at first glance the bar looks like it would be a full bar, they don't have liquor, just sakes and wines, etc., which I completely get that liquor licenses are expensive and a lot of other restaurants are in the same boat. The name of the place already caught my attention. It is located near university and Peters road in a nice little plaza where finding parking shouldn't be an issue. The restaurant's interior is dim and welcoming. We were told we can sit anywhere and we were greeted by the server, however the server did seem to have a little attitude today. Some menu on the item can seem a bit pricey. We ordered: Kani Rangoon- more crab meat than cream cheese topped with a sweet sauce. I expected it to be a bit more creamy. Definitely there's a crunch to it. Pad see ew- the noodle dish mixed with broccoli and we had it with beef. Beef seemed a bit burnt. Portions good though. Mt. Fuji roll- shrimp tempura, cream cheese, asparagus, baked seafood, topped with eel sauce and scallion. I thought this roll would have more of a fulfilling taste but the only taste I got from it was with my eel sauce and spicy Mayo that I dipped it in. Sushi was okay. Otoro & truffle- Otoro with caviar on top and truffle soy. It Melted in your mouth but it didn't serve its purpose and it seem like it has been sitting out. Uni- uni sashimi was quite disappointing bc it didn't taste fresh. Sweet shrimp- consisted of the Skelton of the shrimp served with the rice as well as the sweet shrimp itself. Wow! I had an AMAZING experience at Otoro. Decided to stop by on Sunday night after seeing so many pleasant reviews. The ambiance was beautiful, super modern and clean. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I sat at the bar because I love watching the sushi chefs create art, and that they did! Every dish that came out was so beautifully put together. My favorite thing about this restaurant is the quality of the fish, It was SO fresh! Got there for lunch around 1-2 and it was pretty empty but the inside is beautiful. The service was good, the servers are also very attentive. What an awesome place! Great food combined with excellent service, plus then can veganize many of the items on the menu. We started out with the tempura asparagus and edamame. The edamame was very good although it could of used a little extra salt. But the winner was the tempura asparagus. Cooked perfect, just the right amount of breading and topped with spicy mayo and teriyaki sauce. Oh so good! For lunch my wife had a grilled avocado salad with ginger dressing. The vegetables were so fresh and the ginger dressing was just so delicious. And as for mee I had something I hadn't had in very long time. Pad-tie! I ordered it with chicken and four out of five on there spicy scale. I probably could have eaten spice level five, but it was still nice and hot and still full of flavor. What a great lunch! I think we just found our favorire sushi spot in Plantation. We have been looking for a sushi restaurant for a while since moving up here, and this is it. Everything was so delicious and the place is very nice. Our waiter Justin was so delightful, he explained the menu and every dish as the plates kept rolling in. Doesn't get any better. It is my favorite sushi spot. I started with the Poke Salad (photo below), so fresh and lightly dressed so you could enjoy the actual taste of each item. I then had the Alaskan Roll WITH REAL SNOW CRAB. A slight dip in Ponzu wasn't even necessary (although I tried the fresh Ponzu sauce-YUM). The Kampachi Carpaccio (Oh my goodness), the Yuzu balls burst in your mouth with amazing flavor (photo below). I then had a piece of Ikura which was topped with lemon zest, again amazing. Unfortunately, I don't like writing low rated reviews. We sat and had to wait 30 minutes to be attended for water (and we had kids). When we finally ordered and the food quality was mediocre and not even fresh. We had to get up multiple times to ask for water and utensils. There was no urgency to follow up with us to see if we were okay, needed refills or anything else. We asked for the tab and then had to get up to pay because they did not come to retrieve. There just needs to be small adjustments here whether it be with training, employment or management. I hope there is a turn around so that there can be a updated review in the future. read more

My favorite sushi place in Broward. Although it's in a strip mall in plantation this sushi place is so good. I've been multiple times: for group dinners, and dates. I've ordered off the menu and done the omakase. The omakase is very good value for the cost. $100 for regular 10 pieces and $150 for the premium. Some of the items I think are the best are the spoons with tuna and caviar, the lobster hand roll and avocado balls. read more

Not at all what I expected. Otoro presents itself as a serious sushiya; they even have an omakase option. I'd never been here before so I ordered something simple to test the waters. What I ordered: one salmon scallion hosomaki one order of kampachi sashimi So simple, impossible to mess up, right? The salmon maki was given to me as an inside-out roll for no reason, so no crispy nori for me. Could not taste the salmon at all due to the amount of rice, and the fish texture felt mushy. So out of curiosity I poked the salmon out of one of the pieces so I could taste/feel it by itself and see if it had any flavor. It barely did, but the interesting part is that I discovered these people had not used solid blocks of salmon for my maki. No, they had instead stuffed it with paper-thin salmon shavings (certainly scraps from cutting larger pieces of salmon for nigiri and such). Usually these scraps are thrown away or mixed with spicy mayo and repurposed as spicy salmon. But to serve it to me when I asked for a salmon maki is, frankly, disrespectful. The sushi rice, too, was barely seasoned if at all, and didn't taste like anything. So this maki was actually worse than Publix sushi, because at least Publix uses solid salmon in its rolls. The $7 order of kampachi sashimi was three extremely thin slices, the thickness of a nigiri topping, but shorter. Less than one ounce of fish in total is my honest guess. They weren't even cut all the way apart, they were all still attached to each other by one corner, which led to a weird and difficult sequence of me trying to pry them apart with my chopsticks. They were drizzled for absolutely no reason with a weak herb oil which appeared to have flecks of parsley; it added nothing to the kampachi except oiliness that shouldn't be there, and which coated my tongue so that I couldn't even taste the kampachi. Nothing on the menu warned me that I was going to have my kampachi doused in weird unwanted oil. I don't understand how I can place such a simple order and have everything come out so wrong. You have to go out of your way to screw everything up that bad. These people have no idea what they're doing. I cannot take this restaurant seriously and will not be coming back. The servers are very nice but I'm not going to add stars for that. The bathroom was a nightmare, with pee all over the toilet seat and the floor covered in wads of toilet paper. I was so triggered that I actually cleaned it up for them, lmao. I couldn't leave that bathroom like that and have someone go in there and think I'm the nasty b**** who'd left it that gross, lol. read more
