I can't believe these reviews, it's like as if they've never dined here before!! This is my favorite restaurant on isle of capri!! It's the cutest, coziest spot inside. You walk in and they have someone playing the guitar walking around the restaurant and nice music on, it really feels like you teleported and went somewhere other than Florida. Food is absolutely to die for!! Everything we're had there is so good, I mean clear the plate good. Delicious! The wine selection is also amazing. The service is great, they have always been attentive and nice. We've brought our baby with us each time and it's always no problem. Don't even look at the reviews, just know this place is a 5/5 and deserves a way better score! I'll be coming here time and time again! Never disappoints! The lasagna was sooo rich and creamy. STAFF RUDE, TERRIBLE, FOOD OVERPRICED and TASTELESS -RUN away from this restaurant. We recently had dinner here party of 12 and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. From the moment we sat down, the staff seemed unhappy, angry and unwelcoming. Our waiter (a young male who never even introduced himself) had a noticeably poor attitude and didn't really listen to what we were saying. One person in our group clearly stated he would cover the first round of drinks, but the waiter cut him off with "ok, ok" and didn't seem to pay attention. When the bill came, he charged the same person for both the first and second rounds. When this was pointed out, he responded with attitude and argued instead of trying to resolve the issue professionally. The food didn't make up for the service either. The pasta was dry and honestly not enjoyable--especially disappointing for a $33 dish. It lacked flavor, and the sausage was very poor quality. To top it off, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to the bill, which felt undeserved given the level of service we received. Overall, not a place I would recommend. A great dish presentation does not mean you are going ti have a great experience. After two years i returned to this restaurant and have no ambition to return again. Ordered the Cacio e peppe expecting an authentic italian dish and was basically served a heavy cream-based sauce that lacked fresh toasted cracked peppercorns. My friend ordered gnocchi and it was covered in the same heavy cream sauce. I have never walked out feeling "wowed" and my lasting memory from this visit was how unfriendly the waiter was and how unauthentic my dinner was. We had a great experience. Sat by the waters edge with a lovely view of sunset. The chicken parm was great and my mom had a pasta dish with seafood and a mushroom cream sauce which she loved! Dined here this evening and was very disappointed. I ordered the veal chop special with homemade pappardelle; the veal was gray, undercooked, and contained a large pocket of congealed fat. The pasta was clumped together, and the mushroom sauce lacked any real flavor. I had requested the chop cooked medium with the sauce on the side, but it arrived covered in sauce. Service was equally lacking. After the food was delivered, no one checked on us during the meal. When my nearly untouched plate was cleared and I declined a box, it was never communicated to the server or a manager. Our party of 6 visited for an evening meal last Monday. I wish I had read the Yelp reviews before we arrived so I would have been prepared for the 5% credit card fee and especially for the automatic 20% tip applied to the bill. We were not advised ahead of time of their practice to charge the tip on the bill. I consider the way the bill was presented at the end of the meal to be deceptive, especially with the blank space "seemingly" indicating the need for a tip. I think this is an unethical business practice, and based on the comments of other diners, appears intentional by the restaurant. read more

Don't waste your money. This place had been one of our favorite places but we went there this past week and we will not be returning. The wait time was an hour just for appetizers. We ordered grilled octopus - we got 1 tentacle- 1 for 5 people and it was 30.00. Then our meals came out after another 45 minutes and my pizza had no flavor/ my daughter's meal was supposed to come with potatoes and it had none - they just added vegetables that were not cooked. The bill was over 350.00 and it was not worth it at all. We sat outside in an enclosed area next to empty wine racks and boxes. There are so many other places to go and ones that are deserving of your money. When we complained about the grilled octopus, the waiter said that's how it comes- he was dismissive. We wanted a sunset dinner and this restaurant's location did not disappoint! The outdoor seating area was clean and spacious. Extra special that the food was superb! The sea bass special and the fettuccine dish were both excellent! Server Sal was very attentive and polite. Even obliged taking our picture! Christmas night dinner - not a single decoration in the dining room. Ok. It's not obligatory - just smart. I don't eat meat. I was served an entree that had sausage in it. I'm there with my mother who is probably having her last Christmas so instead of upsetting her I put the sausage aside from a dish that is clearly not zuppa di mare. Then they bring my actual dish. It happens but... then I saw it happen with another table but they told them that this wasn't what they ordered. I sat next to a wall of liquor boxes and watched as one of the wait staff dried glasses on the table across from me that had just come out of the pot wash. When entrees are 40 and 65 put your liquor boxes out of sight, find a place for your staff to dry dishes not in the dining room during service, bring a steak knife for lamp chops, bring the right food and consider putting up some Christmas decorations. From the table overlooking the water, the service by Jelena, the fabulous guitarist/singer, and of course, the impeccable creations by the infamous AJ. Trust the bad reviews for Osteria Capri. Everything my fellow Yelpers said was true. But we went there anyway for a special occasion dinner because there are only so many waterfront restaurants in the area. We had a reservation and arrived a little early. There was no real hostess stand to check in, but the visibly grumpy and stressed out owner took our name and walked away without saying anything to us (such as "I'll check on your table" or "Would you like inside or outside?" or even "It will be a few more minutes." Just nothing). In a few minutes he came back through the incredibly annoying loud front door that slams shut every time a patron or server goes from inside to outside (which is every 1-2 minutes). Please, if nothing else, hire a handyperson to install a slow close screen door. We were seated inside and requested outside but the owner was incredibly gruff saying there were no tables outside...but there were. We could see them. And then he put us nowhere near a window inside...we had a weird table in the back when there were clearly better tables. Still, the inside is SO tight and the servers are rushing past small tables all around. It's not relaxing. Our server was the worst. He was covering tables inside and outside so he never knew where to pay attention. He was clearly stressed and sweating profusely. He was nice enough, but truly a terrible waiter. He got our drink and took our food order and then never came to check on us...not when our food came out, not when we needed more drinks, not when we were waiting 15 minutes for our check and couldn't get his attention. Just terrible service. Overall, between the incredibly rude owner, the lackluster food (it's nothing special), the uncomfortable seating situation, and the very bad service, we will never go back. I would have given it a lower score but the food was good. However, the waiter we experienced was such a rude, nasty person that the entire evening was ruined. This was our second time there and although the wait staff our first visit was not the most cheerful we ever experienced, the service was not a problem. However, we have friends who dined there in February and told us an unbelievable story about getting into a confrontation with a waiter there who actually challenged the husband to go to the parking lot to fight. On our recent visit, we brought 2 friends who had never been there. We had just gotten off of a catamaran excursion from the dock that the restaurant is located on. My wife wanted to order a pizza but the one she wanted had "red pepper" in the description. We asked if this meant dried red pepper flakes or strips of red pepper. He said they were strips and my wife asked if she could order that pizza but without the red pepper. He said she could so she did. When the pizza arrived, it was clear that it was the wrong pizza. It had sausage on it and the pizza she ordered did not have sausage in the description. The two women servers who brought the food were lovely and accommodating. They said they could get my wife the pizza she wanted in 10 minutes, which was fine with us. They walked away and suddenly the waiter came briskly back to the table to tell us that WE were wrong and that my wife screwed up the order and that he did nothing wrong. Understand this, the situation was over with and solved until this jerk came barging back to the table. He was scowling and raising his voice to talk over my wife & I telling him what had happened. He said the pizza she ordered didn't have red pepper on it. So, I asked him for a menu. He brought the menue, I turned the page to the pizza and pointed right at the description that said "red pepper." He then said that wasn't the pizza she ordered, getting more vehement and rude. At that point, I told him to watch his tone of voice when he spoke to me and he told me to SHUT UP while mimicking a talking motion with his hand! Unreal, disgraceful behavior like this should never happen! My guess is that this is the same waiter who our fiends had trouble with. The question then becomes why is he allowed to continue interacting with customers? And if it's not him, the question becomes why are there more than one nasty, rude waiters on that staff? I never in my life have not given a tip before but this was the first. I feel bad that the other servers who work there and may share the tip money were financially hurt but behavior like this needs to be highlighted with action that makes a point. As a final note, another man who is on staff (I'm guessing he's a manager) came to the table several times to apologize and calm the situation which was a good move. I read the good, the bad and the ugly reviews about this place but we decided to go by anyway. We had a reservation and arrived on time. It was freezing out so no one could eat outside. We were told it would be a 15 minute wait. They took our phone number and said they would call as soon as our table was ready. (The restaurant is too small for anyone to wait inside) We went to our car and 15 minutes on the button the phone rang and our table was ready. The menu offered plenty of choices. We watched salads go by the table and they looked gigantic. I ordered the PAPPARDELLE BOLOGNESE, it was delicious. My husband ordered the salmon, he said it was delicious. Our guests ordered the short ribs and the veal chop. Everyone loved their meal. The presentation of the food was beautiful. Our server was a little abrupt and quirky but a good server nonetheless. The restaurant is adorable, quite tiny if you can't sit outside. Don't forget to ask the price of the specials. They are a little steep. We look forward to eating outside on a warm day or evening. Before writing this review there are a few points that I'd like to make clear: Number #1: I understand the restaurant business is a difficult business and I completely respect and admire all that endeavor to create amazing food and an atmosphere for other to enjoy. Ok so we get to the Island Gypsy but leave the parking lot because I'm fixated on my new find. It turns out this is VERY close to our home and how exciting to to find an Italian restaurant that appears in every way shape and form to be legit. I'm sooooooo sold. At this point you could give me a burger and I'd be pleased just from the way this is going down..... We walk in and it's pretty crowded but that are able to seat us. This is meant to be!! YEY! The waitress is super nice, we order two glasses of Montepulciano da Abruzzo. Ok a little more back ground. A dear friend of mine posted a picture of a Veal Parmigiano. Now you MUST understand this isn't something you can get in Italy. It's American. Non the less I was born here and it was a special so all I could thing of was let me get this take a photo and tease my friends. When it arrived it was completely red inside. Now I understand this can happen, perhaps the kitchen is super busy, things can happen. I called over my waitress and rather than telling her I simply showed her show she didn't think I'm one of those complaining customers. Traditionally my experience with Cacio e Peppe is Spaghetti "ALDENTE" grated cheese and pepper. Perhaps a little water or olive oil. CHEF AJ presented this dish with tagliatelle and cream. I could be wrong but cream make it like an ALFRADO. Ok so maybe he is pandering to the American clientele but let's be clear from my experience this is NOT Italian. Me: Eventually I order Veal Saltimbocca, it had a heavy cream to it and it wasn't bad it just wasn't great. Let me be clear it pains me to write this and I'd rather just go about my life and let this guy make a living and we all deserve to but staring me down from the bar instead of coming over to the table and saying hello was a huge mistake. We were then asked to wait outside and while we waited the table was given to another party that arrived after we had. if you are looking for mediocre food this is true place. I had the margarita pizza, not great. My dinner guests all ordered the specials; sea bass, lobster risotto, and Snaper. 1 out of 3 were happy. When the sea bass was over cooked it was returned to the kitchen. I spoke to who I thought was a manager and explained the meal was sent back. My experience and restaurant experience: In addition to working at every position in the restaurant industry since 12 years old, I've managed a High-End Continental style, white table cloth restaurant on the Upper East Side of NYC for two years, where if you're not really good, with exceptional food, and great service... you're usually out of business in 6 months. I also managed a 230 seat Italian restaurant in Seattle, which was owned by the same owner of the number 1 Italian restaurant in the city. I also grew up 30 minutes from The Bronx NY and 45 from Mid-Town Manhattan, and lived in Philadelphia and Chicago, which as you may know, has a coupla great Italian restaurants ... Additionally, in my current profession with a great expense account, I search, read reviews, and dine at top Italian restaurants in most of the major cities throughout the country. During my recent 16 day trip throughout Italy, I had dinner at Pier Luigi (look it up) Cipriani in Florence, and many other great spots.... Further, when I read that this chef attended Le Cordon Bleu culinary school in Paris, and worked at LeCirque in NYC (I just ate at their Las Vegas restaurant), and he started Amore in Naples, I was very much looking forward to a fantastic experience...... NOT! The place is perched on a pretty bay just outside of Marco Island. I took my Italian momma for our weekly Sunday dinner out, which is always at a top-tier restaurant in and around Naples, ie; Molto, Campiello, Bar Tulia, Bellini, Amore...) Our waiter who was relatively new there was a lil over anxious at first, but settled in and so far as the service provided by him, he was very good and attentive. We started out with a House Mista salad, which was very good, with a nice chunk of quality blue cheese and fried calamari (a good barometer of an Italian restaurant). It was plentiful, cooked well, but bland. Our waiter brought bread to the table.... bland, mushy, and cold. We then ordered Cacio e Pepe and Veal Saltimbucca. The Cacio Pepe, a Roman dish was served as if we ordered fettucine alfredo, soupy, wet, and very little attention or care put into the dish - Bland! Cacio Pepe is a dish that does not call for butter or cream. The thick sauce should come from the heat of the pasta and pasta water melting the Pecorino Romano cheese and a fair amount of black pepper. Saltimbucca: Nothing about this dish was any good. The veal, although very thin was overcooked to the point that it "tasted like shoe leather". The waiter boasted about the potatoes that accompanied the dish, they tasted like mush and again, bland. Dessert: We ordered Key Lime Cheesecake and a cappuccino. You can get decent Key Lime Cheesecake all over Florida, a pretty easy desert to make... except here. It was not made "in-house", and frankly was a pre-packaged, stiff as a rock (cheesecake is typically creamy), bland hockey puck. Having lived in Seattle for 7 years, the cappuccino was watered down and terrible as well. When the waiter brought us the check: $160 (we had three glasses of wine), he said; Hope to see you again. I said; probably not! As we were leaving, my mother went to the rest room. As I was standing in the lobby, a grumpy looking man was standing behind the bar, scrolling through his phone. I said; are you the owner. he replied, Yeh. I said, aren't you going to ask the customer how his dinner was... he said, NO! read more

My very sad experience at OSTERIA CAPRI Before ordering I questioned our waiter about the possibility of changing the dry spaghetti in the Frutii di Mare to a homemade pasta. He assured me that I could choose any type of pasta since all their dishes were made fresh. I then ordered my dinner with tagliatelle When the server brought our order mine came with spaghetti, not what I had ordered. Our waiter confirmed that it should be tagliatelle. Immediately the owner/manger came over and told me in an extremely rude and very loud voice "this is the way they make this dish and it is not possible to change." I explained that our waiter had told me that I could pick any pasta.. Again very rudely the manager told me that he will fire our waiter and this is the dinner I get. Needless to say I ate none of the pasta which was then taken away and discarded - no offer for a box to take it home. There was no compensation made on our bill of $400.00 for the uneaten food. Upon leaving I sought out the manager and let him know that if he would have compensated us in any small way or even an apology for the rude embarrassing behavior I would let it go. But since there was no compensation I would be forced to give his restaurant a very bad review. At this point the manager pretty much lost his mind and starting yelling at me (yes in front of all the other customers quietly sitting at tables.). His last words were vulgar and very threatening to me. He actually followed us out of the restaurant and into the parking lot ranting at me. Honestly I have never been humiliated in public to that extent. We have owned a home on Marco for well over 25 years and have never have I left a restaurant frightened. My family had a wonderful experience celebrating Thanksgiving at this establishment. Our waiter was extremely friendly and attentive. Everyone enjoyed their entrees and was completely stuffed by the end of the meal. If we weren't leaving tomorrow, most of us would've totally taken our leftovers to go as they were so delicious! The outdoor seating was great for the nice weather too. My only complaint for this restaurant was that the music played through the speakers was a bit annoying. The live music inside looked great and I wish I would've gotten to listen in. If you're in the Naples/ Marco area definitely check this place out! read more
