The club house is the coziest log cabin! On the day I played, the raised fireplace was burning logs, and it was terrific! To play a round of golf there will cost you anywhere from $10 - $40. It's a great deal!

We parked at the top level (where the additional parking lot is), and made our way down the path, following this "Bistro" sign to the golf course/club area. There were quite a lot of people on the course playing golf. We made our way in but there were no staff in the lobby. The interior looks a bit dated; you can tell this place has been around a long time (since 1961 according to the Yelp business profile!) We didn't end up finding food; we hiked our way back up to the top, taking in the beautiful scenery of the golf course and landscape.

Paintbrush is very much like a links style course. Very difficult to visualize off the tee. Fairways are well protected and require good tee shots. Bunkers are in play. The approach shots are also difficult to visualize. Having a member assist you is preferred. Greens are never flat. Long putts are hard to read. Greens roll true. A tremendously challenging course. Not for a higher handicap. Try the Pulpit. The Pulpit is a beautiful, scenic course. Stunning views all around. The course plays fair for the average golfer. Many holes look further than it seems. The mind doesn't play tricks here. You get what you see. Look for the escarpment for the slopes. Fairways and greens are in tremendous condition. Should be on every golfers bucket list to play.

The venue was very beautiful with manicured lawns, a castle-like building, and a sufficiently large banquet hall for guests and a live band. The hors d'eouvres included spring rolls, phyllo triangles filled with cheese, and coconut shrimp. Since we were here on Star Wars day (May 4th), there were even green Yoda drinks with eyes and lime slices for ears. They definitely played up this theme all day and it was a really nice touch. What was noticeable throughout the evening was how good the food was. Everyone at the table said it was better than previous years at a different golf course. The antipasto, which is usually my least favorite dish, was really good. The beef entree was amazing. It was cooked perfectly medium on the inside with the same color pink throughout. The staff were courteous and accommodating. One person at our table asked for the personal caesar salad without bacon since the shared salad had bacon and we pretty much received another shared salad. Towards the end of the evening, the staff were clearing off tables while the banquet was winding down. But they were a little too quick to clear the tables that they took away someone's photo booth photos before those people came back to the table to claim their photos. I first played at Braeben when it was still called Britannia Hills. Back then, you could still…read moresmell the garbage and the adjacent land was still a landfill. There were not very many houses around the course either. Since that time I played the Academy 9-hole course a number of times. I liked the Academy because it was very challenging for a short course. If you miss the fairway, there was a very high chance that you would lose your ball in the rough and/or fescue. The fescue is baaaaad. Don't even bother trying to hit out of it. I finally decided to try out the 18-hole course after years of procrastinating. I played on a Sunday afternoon at 3:01 pm (twilight starts at 3 pm, and super twilight at 5:30 pm). For $65 you get a cart for your 18 holes. I highly recommend getting a cart. There are a lot of hills and you won't enjoy your round if you had to carry your bag. Both the 9- and 18-hole courses are very well maintained. There are some tough spots (we played after it rained) and the bunkers can be brutal. We took free drops instead of playing out of the bunkers, especially after rain. Also a couple of the holes had very strange layouts. There were two greens that were absolutely hidden and nearly impossible to aim for unless you had played it before. Thankfully all the carts are fitted with GPS devices so you know how far you are from the green. The staff and marshalls were all very polite and kind. We had a slow group but the marshall tried her best to keep everyone moving. Their service really stood out to me. I would definitely play Braeben again. For $65 and the convenience of the course's location, I think it's a great value. You might have a tough time if you're a beginner because of the fescue and tight fairways, but there are some easy par 3s and straight 4s to keep you going.

I've been golfing at Legacy Pines for two years and was seriously considering purchasing a summer…read moremembership. Unfortunately, after today's experience, I won't be returning. I had two tee times booked for 11:10 and 11:20 for a full 18 holes, one for a twosome and one for a threesome, making up our group of five. There was no starter present to manage tee-offs, which led to early tee-offs, crowding, and general confusion. As we waited behind a slow walking group, our twosome and threesome naturally merged into a fivesome to keep pace and avoid bottlenecks. By 11:20, a group that shouldn't have been on the tee yet had already caught up and complained. While I understand fivesomes may go against course policy, the core issue was the lack of pace-of-play enforcement and tee-time oversight. Our group continued catching up to slower players ahead and wasn't holding anyone up, but instead of addressing the larger congestion issues, staff chose to remove us from the course. On our way out we passed several groups bunched up across just two holes. The course was clearly backed up and we felt unfairly singled out. Rather than managing the flow of play, the response felt rigid and disconnected from the realities of a public golf course. To add to the frustration, when I raised my concerns I was told that my business didn't matter, this despite the fact I had paid for two tee times and was inquiring about membership. Ironically, the course has yet to issue a refund so I've since filed a dispute through my credit card provider. It's unfortunate. The course itself is in great shape, but poor management and customer service overshadow the experience. I'd recommend playing elsewhere if you're looking for a more welcoming and professionally run environment.
