Let's begin by stating I've played golf here since day 1…read more It was once owned by The Raven Group of golf courses. It has changed hands I believe twice since then. Today's Lora Bay Golf Club is a Real Estate venture. NOT a golf experience. Great Gulf Homes has purchased the property and it's quite obvious if you're a golfer that they should stick to building homes and not try to operate what used to be a premium golf course. The golf course began a renovation of the bunkers a few years back and it seems they've completed this. Not a good job at all. Poor edges, they've filled in old ones and made new ones. Basically changing the design AND the feel of the golf course. Needlessly, in my opinion. Some old bunkers have been grassed but then sod laid terribly and when they cut it it has now been burnt from the mowers.. too much sand not enough sand... then in their wisdom they reversed the 9's. Changed what was #10 (now 1) from a par 5 to a 4 and what was 11 (now 2) from a par 4 to a 5. Green speeds were about 9. I have to say finishing on what was 9 just doesn't have the same feel as finishing coming into the clubhouse. There are too many critiques to mention. A sign at the now 8th hole so you can order food in advance of the turn (supposedly for pace of play?) what a waste of time .. ordered a HALF SANDWHICH and 2 bottles of water. When I got there it wasn't ready they had to go get it .. had to wait for a foursome of guys who had t even t'd off yet to order their drinks and then I was charged $23.00. SorryGGH.. after all these years you've lost me as a customer. You have no idea how to run a golf club.. either that or you just don't care ! It's such a shame because this track was once a premier club in the Georgian Bay Collingwood area.. for $220.00 green fee GGH should be absolutely ashamed of themselves. Honestly in its current state I'd hesitate to even pay $100.00 .. save your $ play Cranberry Village, Monterra or drive the extra to Cobble Beach Golf Links

The food was soooooo good: we ordered salads (both the beet and Caesar is good), and the chicken Marsala (sooooo good), short rib, and the best thing on the menu - the lamb. There should be more hype about this restaurant cause honestly the outdoor patio is so nice, the grounds are super relaxing and the food is great. We also had a wonderful server, Jean!

On my way there from Toronto, unfortunately my playing partner informed me she wasn't feeling well and needed to bail. Oh well, life happens, I was already on my way and figured I'd get my round in anyways as this place has been on my to play list for ages. When I got there, I informed them that my playing partner had to cancel because she got sick, and they said that unfortunately they were going to have to charge me anyways as that is their policy unless you cancel 24 hours before hand. We had only booked the night before, so about 12 hours before hand. I understand the policy, but I'm disappointed they didn't want to accommodate someone who drove over an hour and a half to come play. I left because I was just flabbergasted and never had this happen to me before in many decades of golfing. I decided to go to another course nearby in protest. I ended up getting billed on my credit card for two, even though I don't have my credit card "on file" with their online system, but have used it in the past. I've tried following up with both the golf course and the booking system and both have refused to budge. It's too bad, it looks like a decent course from the parking lot.

What a joke. The course was not in good shape and the greens were so overgrown with Poa, the seeds were making your ball jump instead of rolling. I know they have a new greenskeeper but c'mon now. Range is closed, putting green is closed. You can pay for your round 15 minutes before your tee time. Nice for your first shot to be a stone cold, out of the car on the tee driver. Peter Rosemann

It has a rustic feel and it's similar to a barn, without being gross and cold. The bathrooms were nice, though a bit chillier than I would've wanted. But they were nice. The hall for the reception was really nice and spacious. Good amount of room for the dance floor too. We had a really great meal too. We both have allergies, so we got modified meals, thanks to the wedding coordinator, Hayden. He was really great and super attentive to any problems we or anyone else had. I believe we started with a carrot and tomato purée, followed by a flat rice noodle red sauce 'pasta' which to be honest was too undercooked for me. Then a cut of roast beef, soooo tasty! Moist and just delicious. The side of mashed potatoes was also fantastic. And it ended on a delicious couple scoops of sorbet. It was really such a great meal, minus the noodles, but that's ok.

Glen Eagle is a pretty nice 27 hole course. It has a funny layout for their Yellow Track…read more If I remember correctly, there are three colours - red, blue, yellow. Red has hole number 9 come back to the clubhouse, Blue 9 ends at the halfway house and Yellow 1 starts at the halfway house and ends back at the clubhouse. I may have Red and Blue mixed up. Nonetheless, if you finish at Yellow 1, you have a long and thrilling drive - if you follow the Yellow track back via the holes, as golfers launch balls by you - or a confusing drive, as you try to navigate the back trails. The course is well matured and kept in good conditions. The place has great elevation changes and if you are not in the best physical condition, take the cart. The course can be long and hard on some of "weekend warriors" who are more in it for the "weekend" and less "warrior." The clubhouse is good for hosting tournaments. The buffet dinners they serve are pretty decent and well executed by the staff. The golf for tournaments are well planned and after 50 years of doing it, they have it right for sure. I've played this course at least once a year in either a tournament or an outing with my friends. I play it seldom because it is not convenient for me, but I would play it more if I was closer to it. Fees are acceptable and I find it worth the value. FORE!!!! Cheers.

The venue was very beautiful with manicured lawns, a castle-like building, and a sufficiently large banquet hall for guests and a live band. The hors d'eouvres included spring rolls, phyllo triangles filled with cheese, and coconut shrimp. Since we were here on Star Wars day (May 4th), there were even green Yoda drinks with eyes and lime slices for ears. They definitely played up this theme all day and it was a really nice touch. What was noticeable throughout the evening was how good the food was. Everyone at the table said it was better than previous years at a different golf course. The antipasto, which is usually my least favorite dish, was really good. The beef entree was amazing. It was cooked perfectly medium on the inside with the same color pink throughout. The staff were courteous and accommodating. One person at our table asked for the personal caesar salad without bacon since the shared salad had bacon and we pretty much received another shared salad. Towards the end of the evening, the staff were clearing off tables while the banquet was winding down. But they were a little too quick to clear the tables that they took away someone's photo booth photos before those people came back to the table to claim their photos. Overall it was a really nice evening was excellent food at a stellar venue.
