There were not very many houses around the course either. Since that time I played the Academy 9-hole course a number of times. I liked the Academy because it was very challenging for a short course. If you miss the fairway, there was a very high chance that you would lose your ball in the rough and/or fescue. The fescue is baaaaad. Don't even bother trying to hit out of it. I finally decided to try out the 18-hole course after years of procrastinating. I played on a Sunday afternoon at 3:01 pm (twilight starts at 3 pm, and super twilight at 5:30 pm). For $65 you get a cart for your 18 holes. I highly recommend getting a cart. There are a lot of hills and you won't enjoy your round if you had to carry your bag. Both the 9- and 18-hole courses are very well maintained. There are some tough spots (we played after it rained) and the bunkers can be brutal. We took free drops instead of playing out of the bunkers, especially after rain. Also a couple of the holes had very strange layouts. There were two greens that were absolutely hidden and nearly impossible to aim for unless you had played it before. Thankfully all the carts are fitted with GPS devices so you know how far you are from the green. The staff and marshalls were all very polite and kind. We had a slow group but the marshall tried her best to keep everyone moving. Their service really stood out to me. I would definitely play Braeben again. For $65 and the convenience of the course's location, I think it's a great value. You might have a tough time if you're a beginner because of the fescue and tight fairways, but there are some easy par 3s and straight 4s to keep you going.

It has a rustic feel and it's similar to a barn, without being gross and cold. The bathrooms were nice, though a bit chillier than I would've wanted. But they were nice. The hall for the reception was really nice and spacious. Good amount of room for the dance floor too. We had a really great meal too. We both have allergies, so we got modified meals, thanks to the wedding coordinator, Hayden. He was really great and super attentive to any problems we or anyone else had. I believe we started with a carrot and tomato purée, followed by a flat rice noodle red sauce 'pasta' which to be honest was too undercooked for me. Then a cut of roast beef, soooo tasty! Moist and just delicious. The side of mashed potatoes was also fantastic. And it ended on a delicious couple scoops of sorbet. It was really such a great meal, minus the noodles, but that's ok.

Glen Eagle is a pretty nice 27 hole course. It has a funny layout for their Yellow Track…read more If I remember correctly, there are three colours - red, blue, yellow. Red has hole number 9 come back to the clubhouse, Blue 9 ends at the halfway house and Yellow 1 starts at the halfway house and ends back at the clubhouse. I may have Red and Blue mixed up. Nonetheless, if you finish at Yellow 1, you have a long and thrilling drive - if you follow the Yellow track back via the holes, as golfers launch balls by you - or a confusing drive, as you try to navigate the back trails. The course is well matured and kept in good conditions. The place has great elevation changes and if you are not in the best physical condition, take the cart. The course can be long and hard on some of "weekend warriors" who are more in it for the "weekend" and less "warrior." The clubhouse is good for hosting tournaments. The buffet dinners they serve are pretty decent and well executed by the staff. The golf for tournaments are well planned and after 50 years of doing it, they have it right for sure. I've played this course at least once a year in either a tournament or an outing with my friends. I play it seldom because it is not convenient for me, but I would play it more if I was closer to it. They have staff that load your carts for you with your golf clubs, provides, tees, and is just overall a great experience. The round of golf I played however, had really yellow/ bad grass. The grass as almost non-existent but the overall course was super fun to play on. It's also really hard imo and definitely not for beginners. Facility is nice, price is high, but you get what you pay for!

It was a really good golf course back then but it has evolved into quite a gem of a facility, especially the clubhouse! We were all starving, so we started with their Yorkshire Sliders (Shaved Prime Rib, Horseradish Mayo, Au Jus), which were very tender and delicious! For our main course, most of us opted for the Cedar Brae Signature Burger (House Made 10oz Top Sirloin Burger with Chipotle Aioli, Lettuce, Tomato, Pickle on Brioche Bun). I added bacon and cheese to mine and had fries on the side. This burger was quite hefty and delicious! The fries were equally good. At green fees averaging around $50 including a cart, they certainly has the best value for an 18-hole outing as the other clubs would cost you closer to $70 pre-twilight. The staff at Bushwood are always very nice and the course is looking really good. They have been working on course improvements and though I did not visit prior to the improvements, I have heard from a couple sources that it turned out well. The course consists of 3 par-3s, 12 par-4s and 3 par-5s. From the couple times I have played here, conditions on most of the holes were great. The tee blocks could get worn out sometimes, but to be fair, Bushwood does see a high volume of play. Around the greens, I found that the grass was always lush and well kept. The greens are quite slow, but they were clean and also well kept. The main problem that I was having was the abundance of leaves on the fairway. I ended up losing a couple balls simply because I couldn't locate it among all of the leaves! During play, I was wishing that par on a couple of the holes would be bumped up while a couple others would be moved down but afterwards I realized that everything fits in perfectly. Staff is very friendly here as well. From my experience, they always welcome you and they always say goodbye. So overall a great course and a great playing experience. Just two things that could make it great. 1) Have the leaves regularly cleared from the fairways so they don't accumulate too much(there was also some weird mess of burs of hole 14, I think) 2) Have a starter

The grass areas has been a bit dry so far this season and there are no tracer machines there. But it's available. They seem to take decent care of their mats and replace them fairly regularly. You still have access to an okay chipping and putting range. Line-ups haven't been too terrible compared to right after the pandemic. The kids working have always been great. Just avoid most of the older guys in the golf carts and you'll be fine.

Wow, what an upgrade this outdoor driving range has gotten this season. TopTracer machines are at…read moreeach station in the middle section, and when you download the app and create a profile, you can track your distance of your ball for free. Only during warm up or Top Tracer 30 option, will they track your distance/performance in the history on the app to give you insights. You can even use it to play a game or use targets to simulate holes from different golf courses. It doesn't record my longest shot distance when I played a simulated hole from a golf course. It would instead record the distance to the pin. The mats on the right or left side don't have these machines. This place is still busy as ever even on a weekday night. We were able to score a free basket by collecting points. It makes practicing so much more fun! I went through my basket quickly playing this, and it motivated me to get better. Now this game changer solidifies this place as my favourite driving range in the city. There is a putting area to practice and an area for without a pin for chipping perhaps. However, there's sometimes a class going on there. I've heard the owner can be pretty harsh, but I have yet to interact with him and have been here many times without hiccups. He has left us alone every time we came here to practice. This driving range and another near the airport are the only ones in the GTA that use these TopTracer machines so it'll get us coming back for sure.
