Lamb on the rocks, large, mild spice
    Dylan B.

Good amount of food for a large appetite. The mild spice was hotter than expected. Its more like a medium heat. Rice was pretty dry as expected but a tad bland but the garlic sauce and hummus mixed nicely to moisten each bite. Lamb was on the dryer side but tasted nice. I would recommend this middle eastern restaurant regardless because I am enjoying it as a late night supper. Nothing is off putting at all and I would order from here again. Thank you!

(Hot) Chicken on the Rocks (chicken shawarma on rice with garlic sauce & hot sauce) & fattoush salad
    Amanda B.

We started our day late and ended up eating dinner late as well. We ordered Osmow's for delivery, a restaurant I remember from when I lived in Mississauga that has since expanded to Ottawa. It has a $4.99 delivery fee to us, which we found to be more expensive and others and, to be honest, also why we've been deterred from getting it before. We thought we'd try it out this time. An hour and 20 minutes later, we finally got our order. We called and texted to check on status after an hour and 10 because we originally got a 29-49 minute estimate. We got a Chicken on the Rocks, chicken shawarma, fattoush salad, and fries. The shawarma was supposed to come with a can of coke, and also extra garlic sauce and hummus that my husband ordered on the side. We didn't get these items and the all of the food came cold. My husband enjoyed his chicken shawarma wrap. Just a warning that he didn't expect it to be so spicy ordering medium heat, but then again, he also added hot peppers, so that's on him. Still, he thought it was really good. Chicken on the Rocks is what they're known for, which is really just carved shawarma meat on rice with garlic sauce and hot sauce on top. It's been a long time since I've had chicken shawarma with rice, so it was a really nice change. For all you Ottawans, this isn't the garlic sauce you're used to. It's far less potent, much smoother and creamier almost like mayo, and has a touch of sweetness. Don't expect to get the toum you typically get at Lebanese shawarma spots around town. They cover the top of the chicken and rice completely with it, so it's a pretty rich-tasting dish. As for the hot sauce, it's more like one liquid spice than a bunch of blended flavours. I like spicy food and eat it often, and found it had a good amount of spice, so keep that in mind if you order hot or higher. All good together and pretty much how I remember it from over a decade ago. The fries were really soggy and cold, so that one was a total waste. The salad had almost no flavour, which was really disappointing for a fattoush. There was also a random cheese curd in my salad, but no complaint there. Because the order was so late, the pita chips were already starting to get soggy. We could've done without the fries and the salad, but the chicken dishes were pretty tasty. It's really a huge shame that it took as long as it did and came cold, since it probably would've been a lot better hot or at least warmer. I'm sure we'll eat here again, but for us, takeout might be better than delivery.

Since we are in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic, their kitchen is only open Wednesday-Sunday, but apparently during regular times, their kitchen is open every day. I was interested in trying some burek, or other savory treats, but their kitchen wasn't open when I went on a Monday, so I just picked up a slice of cake. I initially ordered the "Ferrero Cake", but the lady working there recommended the "Russian Cake." I love all cake, so I took her recommendation. It was $4.49 a slice. The cake was really light and the cream was fluffy and airy. I loved it. I don't like thick and dense cake. The cake was topped with a small piece of strawberry, a single blueberry and a single blackberry and a small piece of chocolate shaped like a leaf. I look forward to trying their other desserts. The lady serving me was the owner. She said she and her husband bought the business and moved the location of the store (it used to be further north on Merivale in the Carlington area). She was friendly and encouraged me to come back when their kitchen is open. The store is brightly lit and looks very clean. I will be back. The store is in a strip mall. Lots of free parking.

We were happy that we did decide to give this place a try, as it was everything that we had expected, and more! When we walked-in, we were greeted by a young man, that asked if we wanted take-out or dine-in. We chose dine-in however, the restaurant was quite busy at the time so, we had to be seated at a table near the front entrance. Upon sitting, we noticed the iPad that was on the table for ordering. We were also given paper menus to look at, which was easier. Once we had placed our orders, we waited only about ten minutes for our salads to arrive, along with the hummus and pita bread. The salads were absolutely amazing; the bowls were filled to the brim with cucumbers, tomatoes, lettuce, olives, and feta cheese. All of the ingredients were fresh and tasty, and that dressing, WOW; it was delicious! It tied the salad in so well, it was the best salad we had ever tried at a Greek restaurant. The hummus was also delicious, with heated-up pita bread creating the finishing touches. This hummus was definitely homemade, and marvellous! We even asked for an additional pita, as the one we had wasn't enough for the four of us. This appetizer was definitely a great start! Once our main meals arrived, we were pleasantly surprised at how large the portions were. And the homemade sauce on top of the rice was wonderful; I don't know how they made the sauce, but it was perfect with the rice. The chicken was tender, with the tzatziki sauce not being needed often due to the tenderness. The potatoes were huge, and deliciously spiced. The meal was massive, and we couldn't finish it all; definitely worth what we had paid for! Throughout the entire meal, the server checked on us, bringing us water when we had asked, and making sure we were well taken care of. As we were leaving, the owner/chef asked where we were visiting from, and if we enjoyed the food. This place was hands-down the best Greek restaurant that we've ever been to; down to earth family-owned, amazing food, and great hospitality. Will definitely be back, and would recommend that you all try it as well; you won't be disappointed!

I grabbed some takeout for lunch. I was going to get the Chicken Souvlaki Platter off their regular menu, but when I saw their Specials board in-store I decided on the Chicken Shawarma Platter (it was a dollar less at $14, and let's be honest, chicken on a skewer or sliced up chicken, I like them both, so why not be economical, haha). The platter came with lots of sliced chicken. It tasted like they fried it up after slicing it. I was ok with that. The chicken was a bit on the salty side, in my opinion, but I still enjoyed it. I liked that there were no gristly or fatty bits. The platter also had rice, potatoes and a Greek salad. The rice was a bit on the oily side, but it was soft, fluffy and flavourful. It had pieces of peas and carrots in it. I got 2 potato pieces. They were nicely roasted and tasted good. Not mealy. The Greek salad had cucumbers, bell peppers of multiple colours, tomatoes, onions, olives and feta cheese. The dressing was a bit oily, but I still liked it. It came with a tzatziki sauce and a garlic sauce. The tzatziki was a bit on the runnier side. I would have liked it a bit thicker. The garlic sauce had a mayo-like texture. It was ok, but I like the garlic sauce with a more whipped texture. Overall though, it was a solid and tasty meal for a pretty decent price (given prices these days). Service was welcoming and courteous. There are some seats and tables to eat inside, which is rare for restaurants in industrial parks in Ottawa, which are mostly exclusively takeout. Lots of free parking available in front of the restaurant (which is also rare for restaurants in industrial parks). I'm looking forward to trying their Chicken Souvlaki and Donair, and also any other specials they might have ;)

Based on other reviews, especially Keith T.'s, I ordered the half grilled boneless chicken plate with Bokhari rice. The plate also comes with turnips, salad, hummus, and garlic. I decided to upgrade the salad to a fattoush salad, get an additional 2oz hummus and garlic sauce (I didn't know how big/small the ones would be that came with the platter), as well as 2oz of Ali's Hot Sauce and an additional Kabab Halabi skewer. The chicken was cooked perfectly, great char but still super moist. the hot sauce was very spicy. The fresh herbs and vegetables on the side were such a great pairing. The fattoush was good, especially with the extra crispy pita chips on top. I do wish, however, that plain rice was an option, as I actually didn't need flavoured rice and would've preferred plain. My husband ordered a chicken taouk wrap with garlic, lettuce, onion, and tomato, plus batata hara and a Coke Zero. I've never had fateh before and also wanted to try it because of Hadia G.'s review. I got a single order. It had freshly cooked chickpeas with a mix of yogurt and tahini on a bead of pita chips and topped with pine nuts. This was by far my favourite and I could eat it ALL DAY. My husband and I were obsessed. OBSESSED! It was warm and delicious, creamy but not super rich, and very flavourful rather than just salty. I swear it should be illegal to eat this many pita chips, but we just couldn't stop. This is a bold statement, but I think it's one of the top vegetarian dishes I've ever had. It's on the breakfast menu but is available all day. I got knafeh for dessert, also for the first time. It was nice and cheesy, and I expected it to be sweet, but maybe just a little too sweet for me. Since this was my first time trying fateh, I can't compare it to anywhere else, but I would absolutely order it again and again!
