I visited shawarma prince today for the very first time for a quick lunch meeting with my mom. The restaurant was very clean, the tables were clean, everything was well displayed. When I approached the counter to place my order the gentleman suggested a better deal for me which I really appreciate it because he save me some money. The preparation area was extremely clean which I really liked, the toppings were freshly sliced and the display was quite nice, please see picture. There's a gentleman who took payment, the prices are well displayed therefore you will not have any issues figuring out how much you'll have to pay. They have a dispenser for their soft drink and my Coca-Cola tastes fresh and fizzy, the way it should always taste. The shawarma was fresh and delicious, they are very generous with the chicken. The salad and side of potatoes, fresh and scrumptious. The garlic sauce is perfect, I'd like to say it's the best in Ottawa, can't wait to come back! I visited the washroom, there's an employee washroom and a washroom for customers. Overall it was clean but the toilet seat was Peed on by the previous customer, it is not the restaurant's fault as you can clearly see by the way the rest of the washroom is that they try their very best to keep it clean. I'm very happy with my visit today, again it was my very first time visiting this restaurant and I really enjoyed myself. Review for delivery. I would not order from this restaurant again for delivery or otherwise. I'd recommend people going in-store to order so they actually get a classic shawarma, if that's what they want. I'm only giving 2 stars because the sandwich was well wrapped and didn't fall apart half way through. As someone who detests messiness when eating, I appreciate a wrap that doesn't need to compromise too much on fillings. Now to the bad: The shawarma and salad didn't come with pickled turnip. The salad also didn't have pickles or hot pepper--ingredients that (in my opinion) should by default be added because they distinguish Lebanese salads from other kinds. I would've thought that unless a customer stated otherwise, shawarmas and Lebanese salads should be made the way they're intended to be made. As well, the beef's texture felt like paper when chewed on (comparison based on childhood experience). Finally, the restaurant is either sloppy or intentionally deceptive with their advertising of products on their online ordering menu. I ordered a Combo 3 which, according to the written description, should've come with a large sandwich; instead the "Regular" (with no added cost) for the Combo was a small sandwich. So Combo 3 was in fact the exact same as Combo 1 but around $2 more. $2 isn't too much but it's about the principle. Don't scam people. Just focus on making good food, and the people will come (back). But probably not me. read more

I'm constantly on the hunt for the best shawarma in Ottawa! While Shawarma Prince may not be the "best" (I wonder if any ever will be!), it's certainly awesome. I find many shawarma places slightly dingy, but this place is lovely! The Merivale location is all bright greens and blues with cute wall art and food displays. They tout themselves as being "the healthiest shawarma place in town" and based on the freshness and colour of their ingredients this just might be true! I strolled in tonight around 10 p.m. and everything looks as delicious as if it was just chopped and put on display. The meat still looked fresh and juicy (let's be serious - even at 11 a.m. some shawarma places look like they just turned the spits on with the same meat as yesterday) and there were plenty of homemade sweets that didn't look like they'd been out for days. The food itself was delicious. The menu is standard Lebanese fare (chicken and beef shawarma, donnair, kafta, kabob, falafel) and my chicken plate cost about $12. It came with a mound of delicious potatoes, rice, salad, fresh pita and yummy chicken - superb.Highlight? DEFINITELY the garlic sauce. It might be my favourite that I've tried so far. Another highlight at this place is the service. The few times I've visited there's always been guys in their mid-twenties who were super polite, charming and funny. They know a ton about their ingredients and are always friendly. If you're in Nepean, check this place out. Bonus? One stop shop for deceivingly healthy garlicky goodness. I can't get enough! Definitely recommend

Stopped in tonight for a falafel wrap and noticed that they changed their turnips to a new "red/orange" kind. I asked the employee about the new change, and he insured that they taste the same. I found the texture to be softer, but not a huge taste difference. They actually reminded me of the pickled turnips in a jar that are being sold at Loblaws. Hopefully these guys are still making them home made. Other than that, best falafel sandwich around! Great, clean, restaurant, and they always say thank you and ask how your meal was when leaving. read more

Great location for a healthy quick grab meal. Everything looks and tastes fresh. Hummus is crazy delicious. Meats have lots of flavour and moisture. The shawarma place is pretty good as well. I like how they separate the sauces from the dish. I like how they give you three sauces. Plenty of space to sit and dine in and parking as well. The pickles and other veggies are a bit too sour for me. Me and my wife share and it's just the right amount. I actually want more rice and potatoes. Not sure why this place has four stars, the falafel plate (1/5) I ordered was rubbery, not impressed. Chick sandwich (3/5) and hummus (3/5) are ok but nothing special. We called in adavance telling them our pick up time as we are tight in our schedule. When we got there at the time we specified, our order hasn't start yet. read more

Either the meat isn't flavoured the same from visit to visit, or they wrap it too tight or too loose sometimes, or the sides are a little cold once in a while. Not this place, i can pop in here any time of day and know exactly what I'll get. I also love the coke mixing Sods fountain that lets me flavour my drink selection too. Terrible service. I went in with a coupon from the Ottawa entertainment book. Buy one sandwich get another of the same size free. When I show the employee my coupon he gets angry and says to me "do you think you're smart?". After my sandwiches were made the employee then threw tossed the shawarma onto my tray. This kind of behavior is unacceptable in the service industry. The coupons are put in the book which I have to purchase by their employers and their employees are going to actively judge and belittle customers for using them. I will never return here as there are plenty of other shawarma restaurants where customers are actually treated with respect. read more

False and misleading advertisement. I went to this place on Saturday. There was a big sign outside "family shawarma tray 29.95. The other side of the sign said "Family tray 33.33" for 4-5 people. When I went inside to place order for the 29.95 tray, the heavyset guy with glasses told me "That price is not right" he showed me the board inside 39.99. I told him you should fix the board or remove it. He told me with an attitude "I don't have time to do that, do you want food or not" I told him no, I don't want to buy food from you guys you are cheating people and left. They are doing that to draw people inside and then rip them off because once you are inside, you would say let's just buy it. That sign was still there when I passed on Merivale road today. I am going to report to Consumer department. Also, the food was not fresh, the chicken on the grill was burnt and old and salad was old too. This place use to be a favorutie, having really good schwarma and plates. But the portions are just to small for the prices you pay. I mean a chicken plate will be in the16 dollar range so you would expect to get a decent amount of food but you dont. The worst choice is to get a plate to go , the container is like purposely meant not to hold that much food :(. read more

I went to the Shawarma Prince on Merivale recently and it will be the last that I ever go there. I ordered a large Chicken Shawarma and they did not put a lot of meat in it. I would have gotten more meat by ordering a small from competitors. I could have saved a few $$$. Before taking a bite out of it, I brought it to the attention to the worker in a respectful manner. He gave a rude response that would be inappropriate to post on this website. His attitude and overall social skills set a really bad reputation on the restaurant. The meat was also really dry... almost like cold cuts. Overall, I strongly recommend people to eat at other shawarma locations because you get much better service, value and quality. read more

Horrible service. We ordered the $39.95 family special (mean't for 5 people) and they were ridiculously stingy! Normally the 5 person meal at most places in Ottawa will over fill the containers and they legitimately feed 5 people. This did not. We were only 3 people anyway (however they didn't know that) and it fed the 3 of us with no leftovers. I should mention we are not big eaters, 2 women (1 elderly and 1 5'8 weights 130 lbs) and 1 male 6'2 180 lbs. Actually forget that I said "no left overs" there was pretty much all the salad left over - because it was GROSS! Seriously disgusting! Instant frown on your face. When we asked for tabouleh they said it was extra, same as spicy garlic sauce we said sure - thinking we would get a little side for a dollar, maybe $1.50. ..NOPE! It was 2 500 ML containers (small size salad containers you get for pasta salads at the deli in the grocery store) filled for $3.00 each. WTF guys! What happened to customer service where you tell us the price of things? Anyways don't go here and if you do don't get the "5 person" family special! read more
