I was at an event that was catered by this Greek on Wheels, so while I can't comment on price or service, I was really impressed with the food. There were big platters and we served ourselves buffet style. I got to sample the Greek salad, rice, chicken souvlaki, potatoes and baklava. The Greek salad had romaine lettuce, red onions, green peppers, cucumbers, tomatoes, feta cheese, Kalamata olives and peperoncini. Ingredients were fresh and their salad dressing (which was on the side in bottles) was amazing. My only small complaint is that the cucumbers pieces were huge and could have been cut into smaller pieces. The rice was well seasoned and had a nice yellow colour to it. It also contained peas and tiny cubes of carrots. The chicken souvlaki was lean chicken breast, but still tender and juicy, not dry at all. The flavour was excellent. The potatoes were huge. Each piece was like half a medium sized potato! It had what appeared to be breadcrumbs and seasonings sprinkled on top. I was afraid that such large pieces would result in either undercooked or overcooked potatoes, but I'm happy to say that they were perfectly cooked. The tzatziki sauce was thick and creamy and one of the best tzatziki sauces I've ever had. The baklava was sweet, sticky and had a strong buttery taste to it. On our first visit, we thought "wow - that's expensive" until we got home, opened up the bag and realized we had *way* too much food. Ottawa has some horrendous delivery with their pizza stores. Greek on Wheels is a fantastic alternative to Ottawa pizza delivery as the food has always been delivered hot. I used to live closer to this place and came by for food often. I forgot about it until a recent drive down Main St. When I saw the sign I pulled back around to place an order. I walked in and placed and order for a souvlaki platter and forgot that you get a discount when you pick up your own food! I drove home with my meal and remembered that the food is pretty good here. Personally for me it could use a little more salt but that is something that could be easily fixed. My husband feels the salt is perfect so it could be just me. Greek on Wheels is one of the best Greek restaurants in Ottawa. It keeps getting voted as the best Greek food every year, so they have to be doing something right. Their platters are really huge and filling, and come with rice pilaf, huge roasted potatoes, Greek salad with big chunks of feta, and tzatziki dip. My favorite is their Greek combo platter, which has dolmas, spanakopita, and calamari. I always order another side of tzatziki since I dip pretty much everything in it. They also have a really great Gyros Special, which includes two beef gyros pita sandwiches, and two soft drinks. They now even have a moussaka platter, though it's not available at all locations. Used to be a fan until I didn't received an order I placed for a celebration. They weren't open because of the bad weather but didn't tell me that they wouldn't be able to deliver. I don't know if it's possible to love this place any more than I already do. Having delivered many a meal during my group sessions for the bar exam a few years ago, I have a special place in my heart for GOW: it's healthy, it's timely and it's F$%*ing delicious. Last night I tried their website order function. My husband and I had been dancing all day at a dance marathon and we were pooped and sore. No one was going to the grocery store to buy something healthy and stand over a stove, if you know what I mean. The website function had been updated since I last used it. I noticed that the menu #s that I wrote down from the online menu didn't necessarily correspond to the checkout menu from which you build your order. No problem! I just used a search function and we were good to go. I placed my order at 5:50 pm and it had arrived at 6:20, merely 30 minutes later, and 10 minutes AHEAD of the estimated 40 minutes in the confirmation I received. Amazing. You also don't have to pay on the website. I like the fact that you can pay at the door with cash or credit. We ordered the spanakopita (which comes with 4 pieces by the way for 7.98 - I was expecting only one because it's not specified). These are so creamy and delicious and they have that lovely smokey, lemon, salty delicous flavour I love in middle-eastern food so, so much. I had leftovers and had the rest for breakfast this morning, so they keep okay over night and microwave/toaster oven just fine back to their previous grandeur from the Saturday night before. How many of us can say the same on a Sunday morning? My husband had the chicken gyro (great price 6.99), but he found it a bit lacking in flavour. I splurged (as one does after 6-7 hours of dance straight) on the calamari and a lamb souvlaki plate. It was about $18, but so worth it. The calamari is (unfortunately) lightly breaded. I suppose I could have specified grilled but just didnt' think of it, so that's on me. THat's the other nice thing about the website order form: it allows you to make notes on each item you order in addition to specifying quantity so they can be mindful of various dietary restrictions - also writing it down makes it clear to everyone involved what was ordered. In the end the calamari was delicious; this is my new favourite platter. The lamb souvlaki was a really generous portion, tender and juicy. 1 skewer but I could hardly finish it. I ordered extra tzatziki (you should definitely do this - theirs is amazing and trust me you will want more!). Finished it off with some dainty sized pieces of buttery, flaky baklava (2 for 3$) and watched a flick. A perfect ending to a busy Saturday if you ask me. read more

i have to say I'm really impressed by this place. I called for delivery this evening, the woman on the phone was extremely polite, I was impressed because often times when I'll call for delivery, the person on the phone is less than kind *cough shawarma king cough*. I ordered a vegetarian moussaka platter and a chicken gyro wrap. K here is where I became even more impressed... I placed the order at 5:14PM, I got a call at 5:29 saying the driver was outside. How is that even possible!? I do live fairly close but 15 minutes is crazy. The food was really good. The rice was delicious and I believe it was homemade, which is saying a lot because I've watched a few Greek places prepare food and no lie, they scoop rice out of a huge bucket, and it all tastes the same. But nope, not here, the rice was awesome. The potato oddly enough was one of my favorite parts of the meal, it was spicy, crispy, and tasty. The moussaka was delicious and flavorful with subtle seasoning and a ton of the bechamel sauce on top. I am torn with this bad review as I received wonderful service from the actual location (Montreal Rd) but in response to an issue I had with online ordering, the response I received was extremely unprofessional and rude. This was the 2nd time I had ordered using the online system and the order went nowhere - I had a note stating I would get an email after the location opened. I called, the location had no record. After an hour and a half, I called to find out where it was. No answer, to a voice mail box that was full. Tried 7 times. They took my phone number, no one called me and no food arrived. Take my advice and do not order from this spot unless you will go pick it up. The delivery drivers have the worst type of customer service. They're food is great but you can tell that the people that work there are all friends and protect one another from bad reviews. I had this one encounter where the delivery man told me my buzzer is not working, and when I went downstairs i checked for myself and it was clear he was lying. I told him that there is no point to lie and just tell me that he doesn't want to come deliver the food to my door as it his job. He started yelling and trying to argue with me that I just got disgusted with his personality and the establishment that hired him. When I told him that I don't want the food anymore he went to the extent of trying to fight me. A 50 year old delivery man trying to fight a customer... that is just ridiculous. I had to be the mature one in the situation and just tell him to leave my property. The restaurant didn't even care about my complain as they told me "the manager just talked to him and that's it". Clearly they're all friends because if that was my restaurant I would have that man fired instantly. I think they confused me for a yelp reviewer and drove me to it instead (see south park for reference). I was on my 4th or 5th order from them and was prepared for it to be a staple in my diet when I received the most tainted souvlaki platter I have experienced. It seriously tasted like someone had washed the contents of my meal in an unclean toilet, set them aside to dry, took some time of their own on that toilet, failed to wash their hands, returned to rub the chicken and vegetables on their 2 week unshowered body, and finally completed the platter. I am writing this review as it has been on more than one occasion that I have detected poor manners and unfriendliness from the girl/woman taking my order. Today is Canada Day. I made an inquiry at the start of my call about whether Greek on Wheels will be operating as usual. The tone of the response from this woman indicated that my question was stupid. Then I proceeded to wish her a Happy Canada Day. Silence. No response. No thank you or no effort to reciprocate. Just silence. I proceeded to place my order although I was wondering if I should. I have always loved Greek food. Unfortunately it took one bad situation for me not to want to order from this place again. (Uplands Greek on wheels) The food tastes great although the customer service is not the greatest. I felt rushed when I was on the phone placing my order. When I called back to simply ask if my order was still on the way (I wasn't mad I know it takes time to make) I got yelled at over the phone due to the fact that they apparently already showed up & when they tried to call the number, it did not work. That was due to the fact that he was not listening to me over the phone and wrote down the wrong number. Once the delivery man arrived he constantly shook his head at me. I just ordered Greek on wheels and the tzatiki wasn't yogurt-based as it should be, it was mayo-based or something similar...not as fresh tasting.
