This place has been open for years and it is because their menu does not change much and they don't have to. I have a few favorites I often order because when the belly knows what the belly wants, well, you know. I love their She Crab soup, Seafood burrito, and Fried buttermilk chicken for comfort beyond satisfaction food! One of my favorite desserts (who am I kidding? It's my favorite!) there has tricked me for years, though. The Caramel Xango is a one of a kind dessert frequently ordered (doesn't matter if you're full! Just order it) that I split (and I typically don't like to share) and for years I thought it had banana in it! It's deliciously worth the calcium chews you will need later, though. read more

Went here for lunch on a Saturday and was blown away by both the food and service. Our server, Kelvin, was personable, professional and excellent in every way. Our food was delicious - fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, and braised short ribs. Parents had the seafood pasta and the quiche of the day. They enjoyed them as well. Kelvin was able to semi-customize my sons kids meal to get him exactly what he wanted and he really made our meal that much better. If you have any doubts about trying this place, throw them in the trash! We'll definitely be back. read more

Oscars is lovely. The food is incredible. I need to go back as I heard the dessert is all homemade from scratch. The portions were so large, we were full and couldn't fit dessert in our bellies! A favorite local restaurant. Make a reservation because it gets really busy I always get the seafood burrito. It's really fresh and big pieces is shrimp, crab and scallops. Buttery sauce and no place has anything like it. My friend got the chicken Oscar and another got the salmon. Both said theirs was perfect. We also got fried green tomatoes And grouper bites for appetizers. They were hot and fresh Our waiter, Tom , was amazing. Prompt and helpful. He knew the menu and how busy the kitchen was. That helped us decide when to order after drinks The place was very busy on this Saturday night but we could still talk and hear each other Very few places have white table coverings anymore. From talking with locals this was the go-to place for a long time. My 1st visit was good but the food has been quite hit or miss since. The service is usually good. The place could use an update. We called ahead to be sure we would be ok with getting in, we have twin 1 1/2 year old boys. We're told no problem. Had a short wait and were seated in the bar area. A bit noisy but plenty of room. Service was great and same great food. Had a variety of things from shrimp and grits to my favorite, the seafood burrito. Very good proportions with enough left over for takeout for lunch the next day. Wished we saved room for dessert but just couldn't stuff it in. This was our first visit to Oscar's. I made a reservation for two on a Saturday evening at 8:30. We were promptly seated at our table shortly after we arrived. Tables have white table cloths and cloth napkins. The lighting is dimmed (a little too much for this girl with night blindness) and has a nice ambiance for a dinner date. Our server Cara came to our table to ask for our drink order and brought them back quickly. I had a glass of chardonnay and my husband chose a bourbon and coke. We decided on the fried calamari for an app. It's served with a marinara and sweet chili sauce and there are banana peppers, parmesan, and feta cheese scattered over the calamari. This is a large portion, so plan to share. The calamari were cooked perfectly and while both sauces were good, we were partial to the sweet chili sauce! I LOVED the salmon dish. The fish was cooked a perfect medium and pared so well with the spinach! The fried oysters are an added delight to the dish as well. My husband enjoyed the seafood burrito so much. He loved the cheesy sauce and the ample portion of seafood tucked inside the burrito. We couldn't have asked for a better meal and Cara was so attentive to us, which made for a very enjoyable dinner. Had the Charleston crab dip, a cup of she crab soup, and seafood burrito. Amazing food, soup with just a hint of sherry but very good. Scallops great: my preferred way to eat them is pan seared with a nice crust but these were perfectly cooked in the burrito. Was seated near the bar next to some locals who were enjoying themselves, so it was a little loud there but they have plenty of space outside if you are going with the kids. Quaint little family run restaurant with a nice food and drink selection. This restaurant has multiple rooms, the main dining is more formal and quiet. They gave crayons and a kids menu to color, but I didn't see too many kids while we were there. We ordered the chicken and bacon brioche, as well as the fresh turkey on a croissant and the children's hamburger. All were cooked nicely with nice presentation and tasty. Moderate lunch size portions, definitely not for a hearty eater. Loved that they offered fresh fruit as a side option, though I wish there wasn't an upcharge for it. We also ordered the chocolate bunt cake with homemade coffee chip ice cream. Very pretty presentation. Very nice taste. Overall good food and incredibly friendly service. Thank you Oscars! read more

Saw the rave reviews and had to see for myself if the hype was real. I have to say the ratings are well deserved. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. I asked the waiter what house drinks they had and he asked me what my favorite drink was. When i replied Crown Royal he askedme if i trusted him. We had just met, but he seemed confident he knew a drink i would like so i said yes. Sure enough he brought me a house drink made with Crown and fruit juices that i thoroughly enjoyed. On to the meal...she crab soup, scallop apetizers, the highly lauded shrimp and grits and the seafood burrito were ordered at our table and were all very well cooked, well seasoned and delicious! As a seafood lover, and self-proclaimed seafood expert, I highly recommend Oscars. I will be back soon with some of my Island relatives to share the awesome experience. read more

Had heard great things about Oscar's. Finally had dinner there and it was so underwhelming. My filet was ok but not seared which I would expect from a steakhouse. My baked potato seemed old and reheated. My husbands "short ribs" where more likened more to pot roast and mashed potatoes were watery and thin. Disappointed to say the least. read more

We used Oscar's as a place to take our daughter and family following her college graduation on Saturday. It was the perfect place to celebrate. Our waiter Tom was very attentive and made this a special meal. The food was spectacular!!! Almost everyone had a different dish -- salmon salad, Reuben, shrimp and scallops, flounder sandwich, shrimp and grits, fruti Del Mar, braised beef, and mahi mahi blue plate special. There wasn't a bite left. The portions were more than plenty. Desserts, soups, and salads were on point. The service, the food, the atmosphere just added to her special day! We went here a few weeks ago for a holiday party. The service was good, but the food was very mediocre. We had 4 options to choose from on our special menu, and I had the salmon and my husband had the steak. Our meals also came with bread, salad, and a peanut butter cheesecake slice for dessert. The bread was good, but the salad was nothing too special. The waiter also brought us large bowls of ranch dressing for the table, but I asked for the vinaigrette- which was much better. We ended up having tons of ranch left over, I really wish they just offered to bring out the dressings we wanted instead of having to ask. My salmon was really good! It had a nice sauce on it, and it also came with roasted potatoes and broccoli. The broccoli didn't have much of a taste or seasoning, but the potatoes and fish were good. My husband's steak, on the other hand, while ordered medium rare... was definitely well done. In fact, the menu stated the steak would be prepared medium, but everyone at the table who ordered it had a well done steak! Since Oscar's had another holiday function going on and we were all at a party, no one wanted to keep others waiting by sending the food back. But cooking a steak is one of the most basic things at a restaurant, I don't see how they can mess that up. The peanut butter cheesecake was delicious :). Very rich and I couldn't finish it all, so I took some home and it was good the next day. I also had a candy cane martini, which was the drink of the month. It was a good cocktail, but pretty small. Oscar's isn't a bad place to host a holiday event. The service was good and the waiter took care of us, but the food is not worth a trip back for us, from West Ashley. read more

I had the pleasure of dining here for the 1st time (1/14/23) and I WAS NOT disappointed! We had a party of 12 they made an exception and sat us all together THANKS MANAGEMENT! The service was IMPECCABLE!!! Dawn did and absolutely amazing job. Her customer service was A+ and the food was just as good as her amazing customer service. Our food was hot, fresh, and delicious. I had the braised short rib and it was sooooo good, cooked to perfection. My husband had the ribeye w/ Gouda Mac n cheese and a Caesar salad (yes I tasted his as well) the ribeye was tender, juicy, and delicious. The Caesar salad was one of the best I've tasted and the Gouda Mac n cheese was creamy and delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Restaurant was clean and even the hostesses (two beauties) made us feel welcome immediately! We will definitely be going back. read more
