I was in Tyler visiting from Longview and decided to try Oscar Nail Salon since it had good reviews. I went on a Saturday, so I expected it to be busy but the atmosphere just wasn't what I was hoping for. My nails turned out okay, but the salon was pretty loud the entire time. Staff were talking loudly while on their phones, and it made it hard to relax. I don't mind employees being on their phones, but the noise made the whole place feel a little chaotic. There was also a language barrier, which made it difficult to communicate what I wanted. My friend got a gel manicure with a lady named Kim. She told Kim she wanted to keep her natural nails and Kim laughed. My friend felt really embarrassed because it came across like she was making fun of her for wanting to keep her natural nails. That may not have been Kim's intention, but it definitely made my friend uncomfortable. We were both disappointed with our experience. I visited Oscar's Nail Salon today and tried the VIP Oscar Special along with a pedicure, but the experience was very disappointing. The technician (Lina) who worked on me barely massaged my feet, which was the main reason I came in--she only focused on my calves and spent maybe a minute on each foot. She also seemed more interested in watching TV than paying attention to what she was doing. Unfortunately, she nicked two of my toes, and now they are swollen and sore. On top of that, she wasn't wearing gloves, and her long, pointed fingernails made the whole process uncomfortable since they kept digging into my skin. When I tried to bring up my concerns to the manager, she brushed me off, simply handed me my total, and didn't even take the time to listen. What really stood out was the contrast: the person next to me had a man doing her pedicure, and he seemed to be doing an excellent job. Then he said fake nails and I said yes on the fingers where my own nails were too short. Then I said I prefer "squarish "squoval". He said he'd do it much better? Oscars nails is a very nice atmosphere to get your nails done. The management team and is very understanding. I was able to go back and get my nails redone after not being on satisfied with a job performed the night before. I am graciously happy to report that the manager was more than happy to help, and had my nails redone by another technician (at no charge). I told Louis 3 times that you could still see the old color under the French manicure he was doing. Each time he either ignored me or told me it wasn't a big deal. I've gone there since the original owner was there and it has just become rush rush rush without any skill and customer service to go with it. No one speaks English. No one understands when you have a specific request. The massage for the pedicure lasted maybe one minute. I wish Vincent was back with his crew. Vicky was great too and now she's gone as well. This is insanely terrible and I won't go back. When I was leaving two other long time customers were complaining as well. This is the worst nail job I've ever had.... and wasn't worth $50 (much less half that). The following things happened: 1. They never offered me a beverage. 2. Even though we were a party of 10 and made a reservation well in advance, they couldn't sit us together. 3. I specifically asked not to have almond shaped done. 4. I was the first person in the party to be helped, and the last one to be done. 5. Bloody cuticles, they weren't pushed back far enough so they already looked as if they'd been on for a week, the ends and sides were rigged and they were crazy uneven on the surface. 6. At the end I did not have time to talk about these issues with the manager because the entire wedding party was waiting for me, so I sent them an email addressing these issues.... they chose to ignore the issue (hence the negative review). read more

I've given this salon a chance numerous times, even during the pandemic. My initial concerns in 2019 were clearly related to discrimination but I addressed it and extended Grace. Their new safety measures consist of all customers washing their hands prior to service and wearing a mask. Ok, but why is the owner and a few others not following the same rules. Also, they have shields to protect the customers and techs while getting your nails done, but nothing during a pedicure. One of the techs, approached me while I was getting my pedicure, regarding drilling and soaking my nails off, while getting a pedicure. How is this safe to be this close to me? I also asked her if she had sanitized her hands? She rolled her eyes and began to speak to her coworker using a language that I'm not familiar with. My friend and I were both over charged when presented with our tickets. When questioned, they immediately took $10 off of her final cost. I don't plan to ever visit again. Another lady sitting next to us complained that they doubled dipped in the wax used for her eyebrows, so she left and planned to report them for being unsanitary. read more

If I could rate this nail salon a 0, I WOULD! I went in to get a set of gel nails and my nail tech was immediately very rude. She insisted that I get acrylic over and over and when I told her that I wanted gel she immediately got up, walked away, and did not come back. 5-7 minutes later a different tech came to help me and he was much nicer and I felt that the trouble was over, but boy was I wrong! After filing and shaping my nails he began to put the gel on and I noticed that my nails were all different shapes. When I said something to him, he told me that he would fix it after the gel was applied and cured. He didn't. I walked out of the salon with gel polish on and around my fingers/cuticles and very unevenly shaped nails. DO NOT GO HERE! Take your business elsewhere! read more

It was pretty good I got my fingers and toes done. I loved the women who did my nails she was very sweet and did everything perfectly, but the guy who did my toes hurt me while cutting me a lot and once I jumped back when he did (on accident) and he just told me to stay still. Bruising, Cuts, Blood, Rude, Half-A$$ed, Inconsiderate Cliffs Note: If you don't have time to read my whole review, here is the cliff's notes versions. Rude, half-assed, painful (bruises, cuts, and copious amounts of blood), inconsiderate- Instead of telling me what he needed me to do he would push or pull my foot or ankle to show me what he wanted. He not only bruised me by grabbing me really hard (see photo), he cut me 5x with the cheese grater that wasn't even needed because my feet are very soft. See the pics of the bruises and cuts he left me with. I don't know everyone who works here and I didn't get his name, but he was a little heavier than the other guys and wore glasses. On Sunday I was in Tyler visiting a relative when we decided to go shopping. We had planned on getting pedicures, but most of the places weren't opened when I arrived so we had some time to kill. Eventually we found ourselves at Oscar Nails Spa because I THOUGHT I saw they had 68 reviews and 4.5 stars. I don't know what it was I actually saw, because when I decided to do this review I saw that they already had a mediocre score, at best. We go in, get checked in, and pick our color. We are seated next to each other and someone starts filling our bowls. Eventually two young guys sit down in front of us. It was very evident that the guy doing my pedi had an attitude. He didn't speak to me other than to answer a question I had about the type of pedi I had selected. My niece's guy was polite and was asking about the water temp. Whoever put my liner in messed it up and this seemed to frustrate my guy who, instead of asking me to pull my feet out of the scalding water he just grabbed my left foot roughly and jerked it out of the basin. He went to do the same with my right foot, but I pulled it back out of his reach. He replaced the liner and we started over again. Again, he isn't speaking to me. Just pushing and pulling whichever foot he was dealing with instead of telling me what he wants. I have pedicure often so I know that his behavior isn't normal or acceptable. He has already hurt me once and continues to treat me like an inconvenience and he is doing a half-assed job. My niece who is setting next to me, texts me because she said I can hear the frustration in how you are breathing. I told her that he had already hurt me a couple of times and I was about to go off on him. She begged me not to, this is her town and she didn't want a scene. I told her if he hurt me again all bets were off. I know I was in trouble when he gets out the cheese grater like thing. I get pedi's often and in my entire life that has only been used on my feet 2x (I'm over 40), I take care of my feet and, at worst, they need a little work with a pumice stone, but to save time (or just pure laziness) he gets the grater. In his first three swipes he removes my skin, I pull my foot back in pain then he goes in again with it when he finally notices I'm bleeding profusely from about 4 cuts. Now all of a sudden his eyes dart up to mine and I learn he does know how to speak. His whole attitude has changed and he becomes concerned at the damage. He attempts to stop the blood with cotton which soaks right through in seconds. He tries putting some type of cream on it, and it doesn't stop the blood either. This wasn't merely a scratch, I understand that Mani's and pedi's often can cause a little damage, but this is a cut that has removed a layer of my skin bigger than a piece of long grain rice. There isn't just one cut, there are 5 of them. He finally had to go to the back to get something to stop the flow of blood and put on a band aide so he could finish my pedi. Now I'm worried about what kind of bacteria I've picked up from the open wounds and worried how many other people he made bleed on that same tool he used on my foot. I got a dip manicure and instead of using the finishing coat she used clear enamel and smudged it several times as it was drying. I've been three times and had the same nail tech each time. The first time in the fall of 2020 with covid protocols in place I was nervous, but felt as safe as I had anywhere else. The next time was spring 2021 and covid protocols were still in place. The manager/owner I felt was rushing my tech, but he stayed calm and gave me an excellent nail shape while I stayed in the pedicure chair. I went back yesterday and had planned to ask for the same tech, luckily he was assigned to me already again it seemed like the manager/owner was possibly rushing him and he did my manicure while I stayed in the pedicure chair. A pleasant surprise.I have only been to this shop one other time with a friend and was not pleased.However I decided to try again due to the location. There was only a 10minute wait on a Friday night. Every worker was working but did not seem to be rushing.My tech was friendly we discussed the length of my nails and the shapr(they are long coffin). The price was reasonable for what I was getting done.The only concern I had was that the stock of water and other supplies were laying out in plain few instead of being put away.I will be going back in a few weeks. read more

You aren't guaranteed a perfect manicure or pedicure every single time you go.. sometimes your nails look GREAT sometimes not so much. I have been going here for three years. The reason I have finally decided to leave a review is because I got a gel manicure and the very next day the edges started peeling up on multiple fingers. I went back in and they kindly replaced the one nail that had come off but simply put a clear coat over the others. I don't know what the protocol at most places is for fixing mistakes but I was hoping they would fix all the ones that had started to peel as they will definitely fall off within the day. I don't know who the man is that did my pedicure, as he barely spoke to me. He was extremely rude and appeared to hate his job... life...people.. all of it. He gave me the menu to ask what pedicure I wanted and proceeded to rush me. I had never been there, so I was reading through what they offered. I finally just picked one after he asked me for the third time in 1 minute what I wanted. I tried talking here and there but he just ignored me, so I quit talking to him and just tried to relax. I'm a nurse and work overnight shifts. I had just gotten off a 3 night stent and was exhausted and had wanted to treat myself and try to relax. I couldn't relax when the person doing my pedicure was so rude. Also, the chair massage thing did nothing but move me from side to side. The 40 minute pedicure was done in about 20 minutes and he couldn't wait to get me out of that chair. I didn't notice until I left that one of my toes had smudged. As I looked closer, I realized the paint job on my other toes was pretty bad. I decided rather than go in there and get it touched up I would just never go back. A friend recommended them because of their prices and quality. But when she went back they upped the same gel nails. I went in hopes for a good experience. The lady at the counter would not let me wait for my friend to get started or allow us to sit beside each other. She said she would put her across from me. Which is more like yelling distance not talking distance. When my friend came in they kept trying to make her upgrade and would not agree to do what she requested. So she left. The friendly staff are as professional as they come and they welcome you in a way that immediately makes you feel like family. ;) They offer a wide variety of services and their pricing is very competitive to the numerous Salons and Spas you find on just about every square block in the City of Tyler. The atmosphere is very spacious as they have more than enough stations, making it quite comfortable if you enjoy getting pampered with a little bit of privacy. The technicians are quick but very efficient and thorough and that's very important to me as I am always pressed for time. I just heard about this salon and wanted to give it a try. The lady that greeted me and my friend was nice but once I sat down my nail tech was a complete different story. I had a broken nail that was bleeding and I told him and he proceeded to drill off the nail which caused extreme pain after I even tried to ask him to stop. He then gave attitude about it but I brushed it off. After the tips were on I asked for a French nail and he told me he couldn't do it and then just did the whole nail the same color. Every nail is the wrong shape and extremely bumpy. My thumb is missing an entire chunk of polish so it's dull and rough. I gave a small tip because he was so rude to me and the lady then shamed me for it. I will NEVER come back to this salon and I am very upset. read more
