Dr Fernadez is wonderful. I would give him four stars. Pleasant, easy-going personality. The office if i could give minus 4, I would. The poor marks are for non existant follow up. You can not reach the office to get test results. I have been trying for over three weeks now. No matter when you call the office - during their business hours - no one picks up. There is a recorded message that tells you to call back during their business hours!!!! WTF??? .. Results where supposed to be sent to my primary weeks ago. This is needlessly stressful, agitating and unprofessional. read more

The receptionist and nurses here are so out of bounds unpleasant that they should quit their profession and go back to school for something else: The doctor and office manager are holding this sinking boat together but their hiring decisions are questionable. They attempted to charge me $50 additional but couldn't tell me what the invoice was for on top of my copay. I called several times about ovira and no one ever called me back. I'm talking once a week, following up and no one ever returning them. I don't need one of your nurses starring at me and making faces with your receptionist because I returned her own attitude. When I've asked a medical release form, they had no idea what I was talking about and they delayed in sending information to other offices where I have to repeatedly follow up to make sure it gets done. Came in for my annual free well woman visit. Visit seemed ok. Told nurses, doctor and then called after appointment to say please use in network quest labs. I also said during appointment please only test for things that are covered during this visit and brought a list of covered items with me to the appointment (I took these precautions as I have had issues with doctors not caring how they bill you in the past). Find out they charged me over $2000 for this visit as lab tests were sent to out of network lab. When I called to speak to their office manager about this (I understand mistakes can happen), I did not feel she was apologetic or that it was a priority for her to resolve this. Had to call many times, email and be persistent. In the end my insurance helped me resolve it and the office manager never bothered to follow up. I found out from these lab tests I had HPV (it was a confusing test result that did not tell me which type). I called the lab and they admitted it was confusing and said the doctor or nurse should call them to confirm the type. I tried to get the office to do this many times but they never did. Also sent doctor email to find out more about HPV and next steps and never really heard back. Doctor kept saying come for follow up appointment. I have no desire to go back considering how much they billed me (+ dealt with issue afterwards) for what should have been a free visit. Just found out now 'their system' has scheduled me for another appointment. I called to cancel and said please do not schedule new appointment again ever. Receptionist said she cannot guarantee that wont happen. Not impressed. read more

Dr. Fernandez is by far the best doctor!! He takes the time to really get to know his patients and is very personable. Before my first, I was of course nervous about everything but Dr. Fernandez takes the time to explain what is going on to you and he really eased my mind. I have since moved from Hoboken and drive and hour for my appointments and it so worth it! His office staff and nurses are absolutely amazing!!! Would highly recommend Dr. Fernandez!!! read more

I would strongly advise against choosing Dr. Fernandez to deliver a baby. At my 6 week postpartum appointment, I learned that the doc had botched my stitches, forcing me to undergo a second procedure. Considering the fact that I gave birth in the afternoon, there is no excuse for the careless job. I chose to have a doctor outside of the practice perform the corrective procedure. That doctor said there was no question that the stitches were botched in a number of ways. This experience has been truly devastating and I am still dealing with the repercussions. read more

Dr Fernandez is very laid back and makes me feel so comfortable. I found him on yelp and so glad I did! Everyone in the office is awesome no issues thus far and I'm almost six months into my pregnancy Update: I just gave birth to my beautiful baby girl Harper on August 9 2017. Luckily I found Dr. Fernandez on yelp & it was the best decision I think I've made doctor wise my entire life. If I can give him 10 stars or even 100 I know I would! From the very first visit in his office I felt completely at ease & comfortable with him. His approach with me & I'm sure all his patients is so warm & the laid back. Like an old friend you have known your whole life, yet professional & concerned with your health. Everyone in his office has been nothing but professional which I am a huge stickler for. I could never thank him enough but I'm hoping this review brings more people to him so they can experience exactly what I did! Great care Clean, friendly, professional office and staff Knowledgeable doctor with a great personable approach. I was very nervous about delivering in Hoboken hospital because I have read some reviews that made me nervous and I've even heard some things that made me nervous as well. I talked to my doctor about my concerns & he put my nerves at ease. My care in the delivery room was exceptional! The nurse was an angel honestly she even came to the recovery room during the rest of my stay to meet my son who came to visit and to check on my daughter who she helped deliver. My main concern and probably the only thing I didn't like at all was that they didn't keep up with the rooms as far as cleaning. I was literally cleaning the room the following day after delivering because I couldn't deal with the mess. They took a while to pick up the food trays so I would call them to pick it up. They provided a candle like dinner with no candle light and the young girl that delivered the food didn't seem interested in anything other then hurrying up and leaving. She placed the food on the counter and walked right out. I had really nice nurses that were always there for whatever question I had or anything I needed. My father bought the floor coffee and doughnuts because I had such great things to say about the treatment. Thanks everyone! read more

It is relieving to experience the exemplary service that Dr. Fernandez provides. I was blessed to have my son delivered by him by emergency c-section back in February of 2012. I didn't forget how kind, straight to the point and informative he was and of course, how awesome of a job he did with my cesarean. Naturally, when I learned that I was expecting again I went to him for prenatal care. Dr. Fernandez listened to my wishes regarding a VBAC and said it was possible. He warned of the risk and explained what would happen when I would go into labor, but assured me that it was possible to deliver naturally although I'd be delivering just shy of 24 months after my last delivery. Dr. Fernandez and his staff were ALWAYS courteous and EXTREMELY helpful. When my insurance ended because of being laid off and I had to apply for Medicaid Dr. Fernandez and Tyra from his office saw me through. His practice concerns themselves with service, and although forgetful at times which made me nervous, Dr. Fernandez never made me feel uncomfortable to voice each and every concern. On January 30th 2014, I delivered a healthy baby girl through VBAC all under the care of Dr. Fernandez and his practice. read more

Dr. Fernandez delivered my son 4 years ago (my first child) and it was a great experience all around. He also helped me through a difficult miscarriage about two years later. However, my third pregnancy experience with Dr. Fernandez is probably the most telling about what a great connection he can have with one of his patients. When I was pregnant with my youngest son, I had since moved from Hoboken and decided to try a new doctor because their offices were closer to my new house and a friend recommended them to me. While this new doctor seemed capable enough, she didn't earn my confidence or my trust over the next several months. Then, in my 38th week of pregnancy, the new doctor was telling me I needed to do a c-section because my baby was expected to be +10 lbs. (trying to scare me into doing a c-section is probably more accurate). This led me to called Dr. Fernandez's office to ask for a second opinion. I am very happy to say that, not only did he call me back within the hour, but he was willing to discuss my condition at length on the phone and then he scheduled me to see him that same week. Shortly after discussing my situation with him, I was confident that if I went into labor and had an issue he would be the best doctor to get me through it. In the end, I delivered my baby at Hoboken University Hospital naturally without any issues at all. I now have another beautiful little boy (8lbs. 14oz). In the years I have been seeing Dr. Fernandez, he always takes his time, he listens and takes his time explaining all the "medical" stuff. I would recommend him to anyone. Dr Fernandez is clearly the best OBGYN that I've deal with. He has the perfect balance of calm/no stress and informative/answering all your questions w/out rushing you out. Interactions with him during my check-ups were always positive, but having him actually delivering my baby was exactly what I had hoped for also...he was a rock star - again the perfect balance between calm, informative and urgent all at once. Poor experience at this office. Waited for over an hour before seeing a doctor (appointment time 930am, didn't see Dr. Fernandez until 1045am and he spent all of 8 minutes with me). Also, very poor communication on test results. Waited 2 weeks, and office did not follow-up when they said they would. Office was nice/clean and staff was friendly, but was disappointed overall. read more

Although I have not been a long term patient of Dr. Fernandez', I have had a fair share of appointments with him enough to provide a helpful review. Dr. Fernandez is a caring, thorough and friendly doctor. However, the downside of his friendliness is that in a tongue-in-cheek manner, he tends to call his (Latin) patients "MA", which I find very unprofessional and disturbing. I understand this is part of his friendly nature but he should really be careful as to whom he addresses this way. Other than that, I have no complaints about his abilities and skills as an OB/GYN. read more

I am not usually one to write reviews about anything or anyone but Dr. Fernandez's outstanding care warrants one. Dr. Fernandez has been my OB for 8 years and I recently delivered a baby under his care (July 2015). For all of the time I have known him, Dr. Fernandez has taken exceptional care of me. He always takes his time to explain and answer any questions. Never once have I felt rushed or that I didn't feel confident about anything we had discussed and his bedside manner puts you at complete ease to open up to him. He made me feel safe and secure that my baby and I were both taken care of especially during some early challenges in my pregnancy and then going into early labor. There is a peace of mind in working with a doctor who you feel is so trustworthy, committed and kind. I recommend Dr. Fernandez wholeheartedly without a single hesitation. read more
