We Always enjoy this spot . The hibachi is consistently great . The chef's right in front of you.. all you have to do is open your mouth if you think your protein is done. :) the chef gladly gives it to you. Anyway, we always go there for our birthdays and have for about 20 years. It's consistent good every time. It's the best place in the North Shore for hibachi show and flavor . I called the restaurant at 11:15am. I said we are planning on coming do we need a reservation for teppanyaki. I was told they were not busy. I said okay we are coming in 1 -1/2 hours. We show exactly 12:46pm. Hungry! We did not eat anything at all before coming. I told them I was coming with my family 3 adults, 3 children. This was for my daughter's birthday. We were told there was no room at teppanyaki table for us that another table came in before us. I was so disappointed and so bummed. My grandchildren had never seen teppanyaki before and my daughter has always liked going out for a lunch or dinner like this. I wanted to leave I was so upset. But we were starving. So we sat at a regular table. We got drink orders in then got soup right away. Then we sat and we sat... and we sat.... waiting a long time to order. We finally got our order in and purchased 3 entrees for lunch, a side salad and a side of rice. My daughter ordered hibachi steak medium and my husband the chicken hibachi. It took a good while but it came- barely warm and the meat very overcooked. The server may have been stretched thin. At this point we had been disappointed so many times it matter ever. To complain about the food. We ate it anyway. It was just terrible. And I even mentioned this was all for my daughter's birthday. It's sad no-one cares anymore. Our bill subtotal was a 92.82 with a cc charge 3%, tax, and a "chef support" charge of 5%/4.42 (for barely warm overcooked meat hard to chew meat). We tipped 15% since we were required to tip the chef on the bill already 5%. Grand total of $114.31 for lunch. read more

Yes, it's expensive but it's hibachi and you are you paying for a cooking performance. Went on a Wednesday night with a party of four and waited about 10 minutes for a cooker to arrive at the table. He verified our order and kept us entertained the entire time with side jokes. The food as always very flavorful, cooked as requested, and well proportioned. We ordered two entrées and a sushi appetizer to split amongst the four. You also have to pay for additional Rice plates if splitting an entree. It was plenty of food and even left with leftovers. There is an automatic gratuity of 15% along with the service charge if you use a credit card. So yes pricey but you will not leave hungry. read more

We have not been there for 12 years. We thought we will give it a try again today for lunch. I love their hot japanese green (no refill). We ordered tuna sushi, salmon sushi, salmon skin roll, snow crab salad, and crunchy roll with shrimp( big roll). They were out of tuna so we canceled the order. I liked the salmon skin roll other than that the meal was blah. There was a lot of sushi rice under my thin salmon sushi. The crunchy roll was dry and tasteless. The snow crab salad has too much eel sauce and looks like a bowl of mush, very little avocado. The waitress was nice. She offered to call the owner so we can express our concerns. I dont really see a point of doing that. When we got our bill, there was a chef support charge of 5% (what was that for?) Then a 3% credit card surcharge. We used to love Osaka. I'm not sure when things changed but we haven't been there in a few years. My son got two hibachi dishes for takeout this week and the price was almost $60!!! Needless to say, we will not be back and it's sad because they have some of the best fried rice around; or at least they used to. It was about the same as many other places this time around. It's really a shame that they decided to hike up their prices to be as expensive as a fine dining restaurant. It's just hibachi. Nothing special and especially not at those prices. Took the two little ladies out for dinner - hibachi and sushi and sake and Ramune, oh my! The hibachi is always fun, but our poor chef couldn't get the egg into our mouths no matter how many times he tried, ha ha ha! No matter, he was funny and quick and the food he served us was delicious. Shrimp and salmon were both cooked perfectly and the rice and veggies were tasty and cooked just right. I also ordered a Po-Boy roll with our meal. Tempura shrimp and softshell crab and nicely presented, it was delicious. The meals are expensive, so we only come on special occasions, but every time we've been here, it's been really good and the service is always remarkable. So, I'm remarking on it. Just left Osaka and we were highly disappointed. We were given plastic forks and spoons, plastic ramekins. No salad. The kids soft drinks were $3.95 kids meals were $17. The portion size was half what it used to be. On top of that they snuck a service charge in for $4.95 for paying with credit. No one told us about that ahead of time. The flavor of the steak and shrimp was so so. They also do not have a liquor license right now as they are going through an ownership change. First off, this location is VERY BAD to get to by car off the main thoroughfare. Anyway, we go in and notice that they currently cannot sell liquor, as their license is under review. Not a deal breaker in the slightest, but the restaurant caters more to hibachi than sit down diners. They have a small dining area for the 2nd class diners such as me and my son. The next thing I notice is that apparently ALL THE WAIT STAFF is serving the hibachi area. Our original waiter disappeared after getting our drinks, so we sat for nearly 10 minutes with no follow up. Finally, the hostess came over and noticed we were ready to order. She took our order and are food came about 10 minutes later. Our original waiter came back, refilled our drinks, and then entered the Great Beyond - never to be seen again. The next snag is that they only had chopsticks readily available. Our hostess dropped off our food, never asking if we needed utensils. I had to get up and ask a waitress for a fork for my son. If I have get up and ask for something as basic as that. Red flags on service start going up. We eat. Now, to their credit, the food was good. I'll not say anything about it. So, we finish.....And we wait.... And wait. Finally, the hostess comes to check on the only other couple and I immediately make eye contact and ask for the check. We get it and the final strike is that the sweet tea is $2.75 a glass. But I make good money and I know when something is worth it and honestly this wasn't.. Great place for hibachi! The chefs are entertaining and the people that work there are very attentive and just have a wonderful demeanor. The only thing is that they no longer serve the salad with that awesome ginger dressing anymore. That is disappointing simply because that was always such a great addition to the entire hibachi experience! I have never really had a great experience here. The staff is bizarre, and once a hibachi chef made me so irritated that I actually had to get up and go to the restroom for a tissue. We have been going to Osaka weekly since 2005 after Katrina relocated our office. Today was the last day our office will ever go back. The hostess was the rudest person I have ever experience. I Love Osaka! This is the second time I've been to this restaurant and it was great both times. The cooks are really funny and entertaining. They start you off with a small bowl of Misou which is pretty tasty and then a salad. This time I had the steak and shrimp. Just Delish!
