What once was one of the better restaurants in Oregon has sadly fallen to one of the most missable restaurants in the city. Flavors aren't there nor is the service. My husband had 2 sushi rolls that were good. I ordered vegetable yaki udon that was really greasy and oily and honestly a small portion for the price. Also, we ordered fried rice that never came and when we were ready to leave and asked it get removed from the bill there was a hassle to make that happen. However, there was a never ending line of takeout pickups while we were there, so it would seem people in the area really love this place. I eat at a lot of different Asian places with my word buddies while we travel. this was the best restaurant and hibachi we have ever been too. I believe his name was Ling and he was extremely funny the whole time he cooked our food. his aim throwing veggies to your mouth is insane. i usually dont leave reviews but this place deserves a lot more than 3.5 stars. a soup, salad, chicken, rice, veggies, and noodles for $16 and cooked infront of you with entertainment. Subpar at best and weird. I know local joints should always cater to local taste and I'm for regionality. BUT this is just weird. How can you combine "sushi" with chow mein? Or have a bento with tempura and fried shuimai (the store bought one)? I've worked in a Chinese restaurant and I know a fried shuimai is at least a day old. Good deal for sushi at lunch time. You could definitely get in and out of here on a standard lunch break. We ordered eel avocado, eel cucumber, and shrimp tempura sushi rolls. The two eel rolls came with six pieces and the shrimp with five. All three seemed to have the same brown sauce on them, but it was good so not a problem! The three roll lunch deal also came with miso or salad. We got the salad. Nothing to write home about: just a standard iceberg, with tomato and cucumber and that dressing that every place like this serves. We were served promptly and attentively. Came in on a Friday night around 9 pm. My husband loves sushi I am not a fan but I make my sacrifices where needed lol plus I love chicken teriyaki and this place definitely satisfied that. The chicken was juicy and very flavorful although it came on a bed of onions and I mean a bed lol my husband scooped them up and ate them. Miso soup was flavorless at least to what I am used to. I can only compare to Tachikawa from when I lived in California which was my only Japanese experience. The atmosphere was inviting servers friendly fast and we got hot sake which warmed me up. There was birthdays going on so it was really loud but entertaining. I will be throwing my husbands birthday party here in the near future for sure. We stopped here en route to Cedar Point. We made reservations for 8:30 and were promptly seated with drinks and appetizers. The atmosphere was standard hibachi, with 8 hibachi grills. Unfortunately, despite it being Saturday there was only 1 chef working. The sushi was good, aside from an octopus nigiri that was very fishy and unfresh tasting. The salmon and tuna was very fresh and nicely prepared. We sat for exactly one hour before our hibachi chef finally came over and started cooking. We had finished our appetizers long before he arrived. We ordered the "honey for two" which comes with chicken, steak, and lobster. We opted to substitute chicken for scallops. This order was somehow miscommunicated and the family across from us got our scallops, and we didn't notice until after it was played. The chef refused to address this and very bluntly told us to talk to our waiter. That item was removed from our bill, but the poor response was surprising. Overall, I was not impressed. The food was just OK but the service was extremely subpar. Our server was super cool, but the overall experience left a lot to be desired. read more

Why put it on skewers if your not going to grill it? Doesn't make sense. Side salad? Really, you have ranch dressing? Please tell me what part of Japan did ranch dressing originate? Yes, I had to try it and that also must have been Kroger brand dressing. Ratting this facility (I can't use the word restaurant) a one star is far too generous. I should have left the building when we were seated as there was what appeared to be a dead insect roasting on the grill where our food was to be prepared. The food that was prepared table side, as is the tradition in Hibachi style food, was uncharacteristically unseasoned and over cooked to the point of making chicken taste like bland rubber. The noodles that were served with the meal were of a taste and texture more associated with spaghetti noodles, not rice noodles. They indeed may have been pasta. During the preparation the "chef" thought he was being entertaining with his food preparation when he sprayed me in the face with water. As he was winding down his performance he was attempting to toss bits of food through the air to one of my dining companions mouth. His score for completion was 0 for 6 attempts. Fortunately his attire allowed for washing and did not require dry cleaning. Save your time, save your money, and mostly save your tastebuds and find another place to dine. read more

The service was very very good I almost hate to even say this. The food is so overpowering with teriyaki on everything they cook it ruins the entire meal. Everything is just coated with liquid sugar and too rich to eat. If you go to Benihana's they very lightly use soy sauce with garlic butter and so on. Unfortunately the cook takes a giant bottle and pours a massive thick liquid of brown sugar soy Teriyaki so thick it dominates the entire flavor of everything. The noodles were terrible. The shrimp the chicken the steak was so dominated by teriyaki sauce it ruined the entire meal almost unedible. But fortunately people in Toledo Ohio do not know any different so they probably think it's awesome because they grew up with peanut butter and jelly and canned foods and Hamburger Helper so to them this was a five star restaurant read more

Wow. I really did not expect this place to be that great considering it was right next to the Holiday Inn Express and in the middle of nowhere (to me). I stopped in for a late lunch on my first full day in town just because I was too tired to drive anywhere and I could walk the 50 feet to this place from the hotel. I went with the bento box with Chicken Katsu and got an order of Harumaki (japanese egg rolls) and have to say that I loved every part of the meal. Under $20 and I got soup, an app, rice, a full chicken breast, california roll and a beverage. I came back the next day for lunch and for just a few dollars more, got the shrimp hibachi (made in the back, not benihana unless there is a larger group) with veggies and fried rice and another round of harumaki. Service was fast and friendly - I wish they had a location near me because I was in and out in under 35/40 minutes both times and could use a fresh option for lunch. I doubt I will ever be back in Oregon, Ohio, but if I am, I'll come here for sure. read more

We come here very regularly. The last few times our favorite waitress Sam wasn't here, although we like the other servers Nobody is as gooD as Sam is. She is so happy and helpful always. It always feels like she is here to serve us and make our experience wonderful. Tonight when we came in she was indeed working and of coursse made us feel right at home. I met Sam a few years back at this restaurant and every single time we come back it feels like we are best friends. The food is wonderful. Osaka is a very good sushi place. It is clean, organized and the people in there that run the place are the best asset. The staff is courteous and respectful and will take care of you, there is a guy that does hibachi will actually do you couple of good magic tricks to entertain you! They also have unlimited sushi on Tuesday which is cool. Best sushi quality to price ratio I've found. Lunch specials with 2 or 3 rolls and soup or salad is good deal and the bento box option is even a better deal and you can sub the Cali roll if desired. Futomaki and dynamite are my standard rolls. Probably eat here 2-3 times per week.
